While the story doesn't call it a suspension, that's the way it reads.

I won't miss him.

Me neither, except I shudder to think who they will get to replace him (coughTOcough).

"Life is hilariously cruel!"

Let's gather 'round the campfire and sing our campfire song,
Our C-A-M-P-F-I-R-E S-O-N-G song,
And if you don't think that we can sing it faster, then you're wrong,
But it'll help if you just sing along....
Bum bum bum....
C-A-M-P-F-I-R-E S-O-N-G song
C-A-M-P-F-I-R-E S-O-N-G song
And if you don't think that we can sing it faster, then you're wrong,
But it'll help if you just sing along....
C-A-M-P-F-I-R-E S-O-N-G song
It'll help.... it'll help.... if you just sing along!
Oh yeah!!

Then will we get TO saying things like "I talked to Michael this week, and he feels bad..."? Or, better yet, TO interviewing Michael Irvin exclusively: "Would you say that your ratings would be better if Brett Favre replaced Steve Young on the show?"

It's funny. My father HATED Irvin as a player. He thought he was a loudmouth and a druggie. This year, my dad's told me that he really likes Irvin's analysis sometimes, and was impressed that Irvin seemed to turn his life around.

My dad, today: "He's an asshole."

Apparently the one week suspension isn't for any criminal wrongdoing, but for failing to notify ESPN that it had happened.

In the real world, WWE believes that no matter what our race, religious creed or ethnic background in America, we all share the common bond of being Americans. American-Arabs are a part of the fabric of America, and they should be embraced by all of us.

Yup. I mean, there's still a question as to whether Irvin committed a big no-no or not _ but there's no question that he should have told ESPN about it right away. I know my bosses wouldn't appreciate being sandbagged on something like this.

Steve Czaban's take on this on The First Team on Fox was outstanding this morning.

He made the point that this is clearly not a suspension, so he must be getting paid to take time off. Good gig if you can get it, I guess.

Jay Cottrelle who is also on the show made a point that he thinks Irvin presents a bad image for blacks with his "street" talk and his mispronunciation of words with "th" being pronounced "f" - wif instead of with, etc.

They went on to say that it's quite apparent that Irvin doesn't do his homework like Tom Jackson does, for instance. That Irvin's schtick is he's loud and opinionated, but his arguments generally don't have any backup.

I don't particularly care for Irvin for just that reason. He comes off as someone who thinks "well, if I say it loud enough and often enough, people will believe me."

I miss Sterling Sharpe on that show. Irvin has done better than I expected him to, though.
