Anybody having trouble finding the new toys??

The Toys 'R Us I went to only had 1-14 (They said they didn't get any higher than that), so I'm going to hit Wal-Mart after work today and see. I've already checked out some other boards on Star Wars collector sites and they said that they were able to find figures up to #27 at Wal-Mart (in other areas of the country). Happy hunting!!

Toys R Us had figures for 5.99, while Target had them for 6.99 so you might try TRU first. I've heard Wal-Mart's were slightly less than TRU, so I'll try and post anything I find out later.

I also picked up Jango Fett's Slave 1 ship. Too cool to pass up!

You can check out the full checklist at

The thing I pointed out to someone in teh comics biz the other day was just "how little" Ep II stuff there was out so far. I mean, toys for Ep I were out for 8 months before the movie hit.

Now, Spider-Man stuff, you can't swing a dead cat and not hit these days.

EVERYTHING EP II related went on sale today.

As for EPI Merch, it went on sale the first week of May, 1999 (roughly three weeks before the film came out, just like now). I vividly remember people going coo-coo for the stuff and literally shoving one another out of the way to get the merchandise, like it wasn't going to be around forever.

Here are some highlights from an AP article on the Ep II toys:

Star Wars Toys, Games Reach Stores
By ANTHONY BREZNICAN

LOS ANGELES (AP) - New merchandise for "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" arrived in stores Tuesday as fans lined up for midnight sales of the latest bric-a-brac from a galaxy far, far away.

After a large surplus of merchandise languished on store shelves following 1999's "The Phantom Menace," products for the new film are being kept much simpler.

"We've scaled it back a lot," said Lucasfilm licensing executive Howard Roffman. "We're going to stick to the basics - toys, video games ... the things our fans prefer, rather than some of the fringe items."

There are still loads of action figures and shiny space vehicles. But you won't see Queen Amidala's face on your Pepsi can or be able to relax in an Anakin Skywalker inflatable chair, and you won't have any Obi-Wan Kenobi clip-on braids to add to your hair.

Merchandising executives at Lucasfilm Ltd. dramatically reduced their movie tie-ins for "Attack of the Clones," which opens May 16, cutting the number of products by about half and reducing licensees from about 85 to less than 50.

"Last time, they just shipped too much," said Dave Gerardi, senior editor of the toy trade magazine Playthings. "After a few months, retailers had to put a deep discount on them and still couldn't move them."

A lot of the surplus toys - many of which featured the much-maligned Jar Jar Binks character - hung in store aisles so long they earned the dubious title of "peg warmers."

The "Star Wars" merchandise line was still wildly successful, earning about $2 billion worldwide.

Meanwhile, "Attack of the Clones" promotions through Frito-Lay chips and General Mills cereal are expected to be low-key compared to 1999, when about 8 billion "Phantom Menace" Pepsi cans were produced and Pizza Hut and Taco Bell "Star Wars" commercials were ubiquitous on television.

There are no soft drink or fast-food deals this time.

"Last time, we really went for promotional tonnage," Roffman said. "But I think that just contributed to the sense that you couldn't turn around without seeing 'Star Wars' in your face."

Myself, I'm just sticking to figures from the original trilogy. Much easier on the wallet & my sanity. I did get the 1st wave of Ep. 1 figures when they came out, but then I stepped back and realized "Hey, this is going to cost a lot of $$$".

We have plenty of fun Star Wars toys in stock. If you can't find them at your local Toys R' Us try the Giant Tool that signs my paycheck:

When I was in grad school, I was heavily into the figure game. Somewhere at home, I have boxes of TNG figures (Hey, maybe that'll be CRZ's birthday present this year) and B:TAS figures. I used to have the latter arranged on my wall next to cool Silver Age comics featuring the relavent character.

Now, if I buy a figure, the first thing I do is take it out of the plastic and fiddle with it.

Right now on my desk at work, I have three Simpsons figured (Frink, Sideshow Bob and Bumblebee Man), Solomon Grundy (from the JSA PVC set), Dr. Wagner (which I picked up in TJ) and Ichiro.

Same thing for me when I was in college and shortly afterward. I have boxes and boxes of Star Wars POTF figures. Like Mark, I also pull what I buy out of the package, too. I have LOADS of stuff in my office (next to the ample collection of MONKEYS): Jay and Silent Bob; Comic Book Guy, Bart Simpson and Ralph Wiggum ("I'm learneding") in the comic store playset; The Golden, Silver and Modern Age Green Lanterns; Green Arrow; Black Canary; Morpheus and Death; Jesse, Cass, Tulip and the Saint from PREACHER; John Constantine; Spider Jerusalem; Max Mercury and Impulse; Golden Age Flash; and Ash from Army of Darkness. I just added Sgt. Rock(!) today.

I'm nothing if not a glutton for punishment, so I'm still looking for a few of the new figs.

I can't find the Anakin (Hangar Duel), Yoda, Count Dooku, Mace Windu, Luke (Bespin Duel) or Darth Vader (Bespin Duel).

Got everything else tho. Is there an emoticon for exhaustion (physically and monetarily) ;-)

Good thing the ol' birthday is coming up!!

I'm not really into the Star Wars figures anymore, but on my quests for Simpsons and WWF figures I'm amazed at the amount of Star Wars figures still on shelves at discount rates. But when it comes to buying figures I go with the train of thought that if I buy them I might as well open them.

Since I know nobody is getting any sleep worrying that I'm a few figures short of a set (figuratively and literally) ;-), a friend of mine who's coming up for Derby next week was able to locate 2 of the 3 I needed.

Now I just have to be patient and wait for the scads of Count Dooku's that are sure to be with future releases of figures. Yes, I realize it's a sickness.

I also got some of the Series 8 Simpson's figs the other day too. One day I'll have a basement where I'll be able to display all the cool stuff I have stored in boxes right now . . .

I've not yet seen the series 8 figures. Who's in the assortment? A better way of writing it may be "Who's left to make a figure of?"

"Ripped" Groundskeeper Willie (complete with cafeteria grease drum) who actually says "Grease me down, woman!" is a part of the set. You know, from the ep when he went into the vents after Santos L. Halper.

BTW, Cape Feare was on last night. One of the ten best episodes ever.

I think the Series 8 figures are these:

Kearney
Sherri & Terri (you get both on one card)
Ripped Willie
Uter
Superintendant Chalmers
Daredevil Bart

You can also get the DMV with Selma (Patty was in another Series), and the Cafeteria with Lunchlady Doris.

Of course, the High School Homer & Marge two-packs are in Electronic Boutiques now, and the Homer & Lurleen two-packs are supposedly out too.

If you're ever curious about what is out, the best site I've seen for Simpson's news (not just figs) is nohomers.net

Happy hunting!!

Wanna see my new hockey mask and chainsaw?

I think he's talking to you!

Hey kids, wanna drive through that cactus patch? Yeah! Yeah! No! Well, two against one!

Things to do:
- Threaten Bart
- Do Laundry
- Buy Corn Holders

Lisa: Bart, I figured it out! Who's someone you've been making irritating phone calls to for years?
Bart: Linda Lavin?
Lisa: No, someone who _didn't_ deserve it.

Linkify You can actually buy them, but I was more entertained by reading the comments.-- Especially the comment that purports to be on behalf of altria and the fact that someone further down didn't understand that the comment was a joke.
