After being totally blown away by WALK THE LINE, I was wondering what YOU consider the best movie you've seen this year. I cant say enough good things about this movie, it was brilliant.
Considering I haven't seen all the movies I want to, it's a three-way tie at the moment, Batman Begins, MirrorMask, and Jarhead. If we include movies I saw on DVD this year then Life Acquatic and Garden State. Just in the theaters... Right now I am gonna say Jarhead was the best.
As an aside the ones I still wanna see would be: Crash, Walk the Line, Goodnight and Good Luck, Capote... then Harry Potter, Narnia, King Kong, and Aeon Flux.
Walk the Line, absolutely. Brilliant movie. I still haven't seen Harry Potter or Jarhead, although I may not bother with Jarhead. I love the book, but it sounds like the movie is just kind of blah. Movie I'm most looking forward to: Narnia. I read those books relentlessly when I was a kid.
Haven't seen Wedding Crashers, Harry Potter or King Kong yet, so my favorites so far are a tie between "Star Wars III", "War Of The Worlds" and "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory" (with "The Longest Yard" as a close runner-up).
I ran out and bought "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory" on dvd for myself and the family, so I guess maybe for that reason it edges out the rest of my top favorites.

Wow...I just counted that I've seen four movies this years in theatres (Spanglish, Batman Begins, Fantastic Four, Star Wars III)...and I really can't count Spanglish because it was technically on New Years Eve last year.
BUT...I'd have to say the best of the four was Star Wars III.
Next Sunday I'm planning on seeing Harry Potter IV.
I saw Lawrence of Arabia for the first time (Widescreen High Definition on In Demand for Comcast). That easily takes it for me. I also saw Team America for the first time. For new movies... don't see many so Star Wars III has to be it.
1. Good Night, And Good Luck 2. Syriana 3. Crash 4. Walk the Line 5. King Kong 6. An Unfinished Life 7. The Constant Gardener 8. Cinderella Man 9. North Country 10. Batman Begins
And I plan on seeing before 2005 is out: The Family Stone, Brokeback Mountain, Munich and maybe Memoirs of a Geisha.

I was in Cub Scouts for a couple of months. Our Scout Master clearly favored his son and his son's friends. He also just kinda puttered around and we never actually DID anything.
