Booker T d. Chris Benoit. Benoit missed the swan-dive, Booker rolled him up, and Sharmell held Booker's feet for the win. Match 2 is on Tuesday. Really good match.

Eric Bischoff told Vince that he was gonna' screw Cena. Cena walked in and Vince acted black including blatant use of the 'n' word. I'm not too fond of that. He then regained my love by doing a HYOOGE VINCE STRUT (~!) by Booker T.

Trish Stratus d. Melina to retain the Women's Title. Joey Styles & Tazz are calling this match, so the announcing should rule. That was actually a damn good women's match. Not great, as they had some timing problems, but still good. Trish & Melina kicked each other with stiff kicks right in the golldamn face!

Triple H d. Ric Flair in the Last Man Standing. Triple H was gonna' pedigree Flair on the RAW announce table. Flair then backdropped Hunter from the RAW table to the spanish table. However, Hunter's body didn't go far enough, and his back hit the edge of the spanish table and his head SMACKED the edge of the RAW table. That had to suck. Flair was the proverbial crimson mask. Hunter hit Flair with 3 pedigrees, but Flair kept getting up. Finally, Hunter his Flair with the sledgehammer for the win. They stretchered Flair out. Match was about 30 minutes, and was great.

Randy Orton tried to convince his team to let him captain because Batista was hurt. Batista then showed up.

Randy: "Hey Dave, we were just talking about ya'."
Batista: "Yeah, I heard."
JBL: "Randy was!"

I LOVE JBL~! Batista finally intimidated everyone into letting him be captain. This was really entertaining, especially Bradshaw. VIVA JBL~!~!~!

Edge is cutting an interview in the ring. Edge made fun of a baseball player at ringside for using steroids. Uh, is this the best week to be making these jokes? The baseball player (something Young) then made fun of Edge for not having a World Title and the announcers followed suit. I wonder if that is foreshadowing?

John Cena d. Kurt Angle to retain the WWE Title. Daivari and two other RAW referees got knocked out. Cena hit Kurt Angle with the FU and Charles Robinson made the 3-count. Since Robinson is a SD referee, I'd imagine this leads to the title being vacated. Started as the normal 50/50 reaction, but turned into about 80/20 for Kurt by the end. Match was pretty good.

Theodore Long d. Eric Bischoff. Michael Cole & Coach are calling this match. Who the FUCK made that decision?!?!?!? This sucked horribly until a run-in was made by THE BOOGEYMAN~!~!~! GREATEST PPV EVER~! Boogeyman gave Bischoff a pump-handle slam and Long got the win.

Team RAW d. Team SmackDown. Considering Long won the last match, I'm guessing RAW wins here. Batista & Rey, both wearing EG armbands, pointed to the sky, igniting a big 'Eddie' chant. That is a moment I will not soon forget. All five announcers are calling this and stepping all over each other and I might kill myself before the match ends. Lashley just got eliminated first by a Kane chokeslam. What fucking moron made that decision? Batista eliminated Kane. Big Show eliminated Batista. Mysterio eliminated Big Show. Carlito was eliminated. Chris Masters was eliminated. 3-on-1 against Michaels. Michaels eliminated Rey Mysterio. Michaels eliminated JBL. Michaels blocked a JBL run-in, but turned into an RKO. Randy Orton eliminated Michaels and won the match for SmackDown. Good match, but it felt a bit rushed.

Afterwards, a bunch of SmackDown midcarders ran down to celebrate. The druids came out with a casket. The casket caught on fire and Undertaker came out of it. He beat up the midcarders and he and Orton had a staredown. They couldn't have done that on SmackDown? It was a pretty odd way to end a PPV.

Funny (call me crazy), but I could have sworn I heard women and children chanting "Let's Go Cena" while it seemed like the male dominant voice was chanting "Let's Go Angle"... truly representational of who roots for each competitor. It was pretty interesting, the entire crowd was exceptional and lended a great voice for the IWC.

Pretty bad show considering this is supposed to be one of the "big four" shows of the year. It seemed more of a "super" TV show than a PPV. Some good matches here and there, but nothing really memorable at all.

Long vs. Bischoff was really so sad that it made me and my buds laugh. Tell me what exactly the "UPN executive" guy was supposed to be doing there on the apron?

Jeez, WWE is so invested in protecting Cena it's ridiculous. Angle once again falls short of winning the WWE Championship, and though it's possible the title may be vacated because Charles Robinson counted the three, I wouldn't hang my hat on it.

Hard to believe that in over eight months as champion, Cena's only had three serious contenders to his title (two if you discount Jericho, who was never booked to appear to have a fighting chance).

And another thing-- Randy Orton gets the pin in the main event? It's as if the wrestling gods, if gods there are, have conspired to make sure I get my daily fix of two guys I can't stand.

I thought the show was actually really well done. Triple H-Flair was a classic and Angle-Cena was better than some of their previous matches. Even the main event was pretty decent...

I was really laughing at Tazz tonight. "Where is this paper?"

I was liking the elimination match but the ending sequences were really rushed, starting with the Superkick on Rey. I hate rapid-fire eliminations. I felt that Big Show's elimination was well done.

The five man booth was a bad idea, so I'm glad Cole and Tazz shouted the RAW guys down and took over.

I thought this was a very solid, entertaining show, the only low point being the GM Battle. But, it was saved by BOOGEYMAN who got a pretty decent pop at the bar I was in.

Flair shows again he will do whatever it takes to entertain. I am suprised HHH didnt get bloodied as well.

Good Main event, lots of decent action, and then the ending looked a it rushed, but still was exciting seeing HBK superkick Rey and JBL out of there. Only question though, when was the last time a Kane chokeslam actually FINISHED a guy off?

Line of the night though, Edge, calling Dmitri Young "Mark Henry".

THANK you! That was bugging the Hell out of me. I can't say much of his in-ring work (of which I've seen absolutely nothing of), but Palmer Cannon is absolutely useless.

This entire show was just...blah. I really can't say anything else about it, except "blah." As far as supposedly being one of the top four shows of the year, it was a big letdown.

First off, I don't care what anybody says, the lazy ass booking of "Big Show takes everybody's finisher to prove he's tough and that's what it takes to eliminate him" was played in 2001.....NEXT.

Cena's win sucks ass. I don't know who's quote it is, but somebody's sig has a fantastic quote to the tune of (paraphrasing): "Real men love lesbians, stockings, and Sean Connery best as James Bond, because that's what being a man is." I can't help but think of that quote when I see John Cena beat Kurt Fucking Angle in another shitfest of a clusterfuck. Real wrestling fans root for Kurt Angle. If you root for Cena, you're a small child, or a pre-pubescent girl who thinks he's "cute". As was mentioned before.

Randy winning the main event? Please. You advertise "The Return of The Undertaker" and then don't show him, even AFTER the main event is over? You KNOW he's coming out then. Can we make it any obvious? The same happened, once again, YEARS ago at the Rumble when Taker came out as #30 (or was it 29? Either way). They advertised him as "Returning"....and you KNEW it had to be as that last entrant because they NEVER mentioned it the whole show. Can we be more obvious, and dare I say...dull?

The PPV had me until Cena won AGAIN and all the goddamn squeaky voices of 12 year olds kids and horny teenage girls broke my TV set. 'Nuff Said. Real men love lesbians, stockings, Sean Connery as James Bond, and Kurt Angle as your WWE Champion, because that's what being a man is. The end.

So, after getting it up the butt from Raw almost every step of the way, the SD team pulls out a win when the chips are down ... and it's immediately brushed aside so Taker can bury half the roster and no-sell death again. Feh.

Not to be schmucky by reposting, but Taker IS a Smackdown star... at least that's a point for them right? Beard and tights kind of uh....suck. Tights + Taker = No.

PS: Before Angle's loss, I was enjoying the hell out of this PPV. Melina/Trish have to build a nice feud into WM if they're smart, and Booker T/Benoit still have it. Triple H/Flair surprisingly lived up to their first match... or at least it was DAMN CLOSE enough to not disappoint. I mean he got out of 3 Pedigrees....I'll take it.

True story: Back in May when RAW was in Calgary, there was a pair of teenage girls sitting in front of the bunch of us who were obviously huge Cena marks (they had all his swag on 'em). Now, Christian came out and cut a sweet promo asking to be drafted to Smackdown to kick Cena's Vanilla Ice-wannabe ass, and the partisan Canadian crowd was eating it up...except for the pair of teenage girls. I got into a nice argument with them over Cena, especially since I noted that since turning face:

(1) He's abandoned his entire rapping schtick, basically ignoring the gimmick that brought him to the dance. Austin didn't stop drinking beers & giving Stunners to everybody, and The Rock didn't stop being an arrogant ass when they were faces, so why this? The fans KNOW when you're pandering to them (Blue Chipper Rocky Miavia, Randy Orton's face run are examples) and it's stupid to try.
(2) Cena's Five Moves of Mediocrity: The F-U ("the gentle drop onto your back"), the Throwback, The Five Knuckle Shuffle ("It hurts more because he WAVES HIS HAND!"), the tackle and the spinning sideslam.
(3) General booking shittery: Weak-ass WrestleMania victory where he got his ass handed to him, then managed to win with 30 seconds of offense. He NEEDED a strong victory to launch his title reign (like Batista needed and GOT), and not getting that really hurt him.
(4) The spinning belt(s). And not wearing the belt.

Having that argument out loud, with babes, would be something. I believe all the ladies in the house should also know that JBL did not draw as champion, and Triple H was overexposed.

I thought the show was alright, with nearly all good matches but only one of real value.

- Booker vs. Benoit was their usual good match. Sharmell is totally awesome. ***1/4

- Man. "Nigga."

- Trish/Melina was a very good effort from them, a lot better than Trish vs. anyone left except Victoria. **

- HHH vs. Flair was really good. One of the rare times that a Last Man Standing stip actually worked and made sense for a match instead of hindering it. The rules played perfectly into the storyline, each guy's strengths, and the psychology. Flair should've won again. ****

- Man. Steroid and amphetamine insults from the glassiest house of them all.

- Cena vs. Angle was bizarre. Good whenever they weren't doing bullshit with the refs, but they were doing bullshit with the refs quite frequently. The loud 50/50 crowd added a lot, much like SummerSlam. But this was way too short, and another match from them nowhere close to the level of the one they had in February. ***1/4

- Bischoff vs. Teddy was horrible. -*

- The tag match was fun but could've been a lot better if they wanted it to (see: the 2001 and 2003 matches). It badly needed Matt Hardy and Shelton Benjamin instead of Lashley and Masterpiece, because a match with 50% big stiffs suffers from a lot of tepid action even if their work is competent. Hardy and Benjamin would've added some much-needed athleticism and bumping and *movement*. Lashley vs. Masters in particular was a funny/sad showdown. And THEY PINNED LASHLEY, in one of the most flabbergastastic booking decisions you'll ever see, considering how easy it would've been ... to not. Good thing he was in this match, then, because he gained so much out of it.

It would've been nice if they'd done more with Michaels vs. Rey and Michaels vs. Orton instead of running through the last few eliminations, but there was enough talent in the match to make it work. And Rey getting to be such a, well, dominant force was great. The five-man announce team made for a unique listening experience but was mostly annoying. ***1/4

Vince McMahon telling Cena he is his nigga was fucking hilarious especially after they showed the look on Booker's face.

And the women's match was good. It had the crowd into it and I hope the continue the storyline for a while.

I hate how the use the sledgehammer with Trips as a crutch for him winning all the time. Its an old and tired gimmick. You'd think someone would have a bigger sledgehammer by now or something.

And I loved Edge's segment. I especially liked the part where he called Dmitri Young "Mark Henry".

The ending of the show felt really anti-climatic. I mean, UT's back...so what? This is like his 100th return from being killed off, isn't it?

Was anyone seriously offended by Vince saying the n-word? It was akin to when Will Ferrell dropped it while covering rap lyrics as Robert Goulet. It was part of the skit, and I didn't find it racist at all.

Man, when those 'character based on Dave Chappelle' rumours happened a few months back, I didn't think the character would've been Vince.

Do you have any way of knowing for sure that this was his call? I mean, sure, I have no way of knowing that it wasn't, but considering his constant promotion of hip-hop culture, his appearances on 106 & Park, and the fact he released a rap album, I can't see him saying "I really think we should phase out the rap".

Oh come on. Every friggin' guy has five moves of mediocrity. For Austin's big face run, from about late '97 to late '99, he NEVER used anything but the punch, kick, flip off elbow drop, thesz press, and the stunner. The Rock had his spinebuster, sharpshooter, belly-to-belly throw, Rock clothesline, people's elbow, rock bottom. Triple H hasn't shown his "awesome worker" gene in about five years, and has relied mainly on punches, clotheslines, facebusters, kneedrops, a spinebuster, and the pedigree. This IS main event style in WWE, and more a company issue than a Cena shortcoming.

And the waving his hand in front of his face is a sign of disrespect. It isn't supposed to make it hurt more any more than Austin flipping you off pre-stunner is. The whole crowd chants "YOU CAN'T SEE ME" when he does that, and you want it out of his act?

But dawg. If he got that extra time, we would never have seen Akebono's scrotum.

Austin never wore his belt, always dangled it at the side. Rock was the same. These are pet peeves, they're not legitimate flaws. No one drew money based on being seen wearing the belt. And that belt is COOL, btw. It's heavy and it looks valuable.

Now, my point is not that Cena is amazingly awesome, but merely that his reign has been a far cry from a failure. Some sprinkled boos here and there don't taint the whole thing. In fact, Shawn Michaels got much of the same during his run in '96, which drew lower TV ratings and PPV buys, and probably moved less merchandise. It would have been more noticeable then if RAW had gone live every week, but it really came across on PPVs. Especially Survivor Series, where an MSG CROWD was dying for Sid to win the strap.

So bring all the valid arguments against Cena you want. He's not a great worker. To that I'd say, he IS a great brawler. He needs to be allowed to work his style, which are stiff brawls that go all over the place. Add more frequent raps to that, and you have a recipe for a standing ovation any night of the week.

And I love Kurt, but I'll say this. I have NO problem with a long run with a face Champion. There is whole nihilistic element to the shows over the past few years that has been removed by having long-term face Champions. This fiction that it's only compelling to see a face chase the title is pure fiction. A man of the people holding onto his prize and successfully defending it against all comers IS compelling. Another eight months of JBL main events is something we don't need.

Oh, and no criticism of the show because I didn't order it. Haven't felt into wrestling since Eddie's tribute shows. But all that aside, I am glad I didn't get this one. Something about Randy Orton, sole survivor, makes me really glad I stayed away.

I saw this on the BIG SCREEN and boy, I should have stayed home and futzed around with my new MySpace account instead, because this show was the drizzling shits.

JUVENTUD/DEAN
Missed this.

BENOIT/BOOKER
This was decent, if not spectacular. Not as good as Benoit is capable of, but Booker is overrated and boring, so what can you do? If you watch the replay, you can clearly see Booker signalling the Oklahoma Roll to Benoit with a spinny finger move.

Backstage, Vince calls Cena "my nigga" in what was the sole highlight of the show for me. I laughed tons, and Booker's catchphrase was perfectly placed too. Well done.

TRISH/MELINA
This was entertaining enough.

So far, nothing had been outright awful, but there was nothing memorable either. Except for my nigga.

HHH/FLAIR
Maybe it's just the result, but man, I didn't like this nearly as much as the cage match. HHH didn't bleed, Flair didn't swear, HHH didn't feel the need to sell the figure-four for even a second once he was out of it. I also don't like that the ten count came without a preceding pinfall or submission, but I suppose if it did, there'd have to be 35 pins off of clotheslines and elbowdrops. Which would certainly fit the spirit of Survivor Series. I did think Mickey Jay did a good job with counting for both guys. Not sure why I noticed that, but I did.

THE CUTTING EDGE
This was pretty decent, up until Edge ran away at the end for no real reason. Calling the Tiger guy Mark Henry was funny. I thought possibly bringing up the baseball drug issue was a bad idea, considering Eddie and the new WWE drug policy, but whatever. It was good for lending credence to the idea that Edge really will say anything on his show. Would be nice to get a talk show on SD instead of two on Raw, though. And it's nice that Matt Hardy has found inner peace and no longer feels the need to attack Edge at every opportunity.

ANGLE/CENA
This was terrible. I hate the heel referee angle. Why was Daivari dead for an hour after falling through the ropes? Why would Daivari refuse to count Cena's pin, but not simply ring the bell when Cena was in the ankle lock? The highlight of this match was the dueling chants, because LET'S GO ANGLE sounded like a normal chant but LET'S GO CENA was all high-pitched because stupid girls and little kids are Cena's only fans.

BISCHOFF/LONG
I never thought I'd type the following sentence, but here goes:

This was a waste of the Boogeyman.

TEAM RAW/TEAM SMACKDOWN
Oh man, where to begin?

- It's not like Lashley can't come back from being booked like a bitch, but COME ON. For real. Leaving him out of the match would have been better than treating him like they did.

- Boy, I hated all the announcers. Cole and Tazz all angry and self-righteous? Awful. Styles, Coach, and Lawler were no better.

- Rey killing Masters when Dropping The Dime was pretty awesome and great.

- Michaels joins Daivari in the oversellers club. They must have made the floor superhard or something. And then we follow that with the lightning-fast eliminations that annoy me so.

- Yay, old man Undertaker is back to PUNK OUT THE ENTIRE ROSTER.

- Despite the fact that Undertaker was all over the opening video package, this one kid yelled WAIT WAIT OH MY GOD WHAT THE HELL WHAT THE HELL when Undertaker's music started.

Maybe I was just in a bad mood or something, but this show was awful. Go TNA.

Totally agreed. People who get moist over long heel champ runs are only thinking about Flair and forget that the WWF's best days were when faces Hogan and Austin were on top.

I mean, sure, I have no way of knowing that it wasn't, but considering his constant promotion of hip-hop culture, his appearances on 106 & Park, and the fact he released a rap album, I can't see him saying "I really think we should phase out the rap".

Whether it was his call or not is irrelevant. The one thing that made his character unique and popular has been taken away. Granted, maybe him rapping all the time would have gotten played out as well, but in lieu of something else that would keep him fresh with the crowd, it should have been continued.

In the real world, WWE believes that no matter what our race, religious creed or ethnic background in America, we all share the common bond of being Americans. American-Arabs are a part of the fabric of America, and they should be embraced by all of us.

Man, I dug this show. Solid wrestling top-to-bottom, and some really fun bits. With the exception of Teddy/Bisch going more than a minute or so none of the non-wrestling was a slap in the face, and even that match was saved by The Boogeyman, who is so totally on his way to IWC cult status. The only booking decision I really have fault with is Lashley getting pinned, and they to come out strong with him to erase that memory. May I suggest him whupping JBL at Armageddon?

With the return of Road Warrior Animal, are they still calling Batista "The Animal"? JR used to call his finisher a Demon Bomb, and that right there gives you a fine nickname for your ginormous, veins-a-poppin', fire-heavy pyro-using champ.
