That's kind of unexpected...hadn't heard or seen any news of him being ill. Not that I was following it closely, but still...

For some reason, I had no idea he received an Oscar nomination for his role in "The Karate Kid." I was also surprised to learn that he was only about 52 when he played Mr. Miyagi.

Sad...

Sad news.

I recommend you all find a way to see "Only the Brave" which I think is his last film and another great dramatic performance from him.

The flag at Arnold's is flying at half mast. These are not happy days for Fonzie and the gang.

RIP, Mr. Morita.

Weird...just yesterday my Dad made the JC Penney $1.99 belt joke to me and then we wondered how old he was.

Those Karate Kid movies...whenever they're on TV, I can't turn away.

I really didn't see this coming at all. Especially since he's been actively doing cameos during the last year, his most recent appearence being on "Robot Chicken." I'll never forget the Karate Kid and his brilliant cameos and the acting world has experienced another incredible loss.

Wax on, wax off indeed.

I didn't think Al would outlive Arnold. Also, have to give Morita credit for some of his cameos on the early episodes of MASH.

Wax on....wax off. Wax on....wax off.

I loved that scene in Karate Kid. Morita made the movie work.

You know, my first thought was "I wonder if that dude from Cobra Kai read this in the newspaper and said 'get him a bodybag, yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!' "

I was too young to remember "The Karate Kid" coming out, so I'll always remember him as Grandpa on "The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo" on Nickelodeon.

It did get billing in the sense that the episode was called, ahem, The One With The Night Court Reunion. That was one of the most inventive episodes of a show I've ever seen, with an Arrested Development-like* affection for TV comedy history.
