OH! For over two years, I've never, ever thought that "Eugene says he was just a work, a f{stupid} work!" was a feasible idea, until now and this idea of tying it in with the Con Man gimmick, which is ***** "What Would Jimcornette Do?" booking.
In fact, they should bring back Rico Constantino ("I conned you into thinking I was gay"), Matt Morgan ("I conned you into thinking I stuttered"), the Bashams ("we conned you into thinking we were brothers"), the Heart Throbs ("we conned you into think we weren't gay"), rehire Cornette to manage them, and go after John Cena and Batista for being poseurs.
I hope that he both 1) Comes back to the WWE from this, and 2) Keeps the mentally handicapped character until he's let go.
From the crowd reactions lately, I figure they're only a few months away from Eugene fighting some debuting monster, and while doing the JTTS duty for the night, we hear the crowd chanting "Kill The Clown Retard" again. It's been chanted by a few people at different RAWs, but the gimmick's only got a little while left before everyone gets sick of it and more people start joining in.
I put up with Doink for a LONG time to get that moment, and I'd hate to see Eugene gone from tv before we get the payoff.
I would love to see a "Keyser Söze" angle with Eugene if it is done right. He has made everyone believe he is just a harmless naive retard for over a year, when he is actually a wiley mastermind that uses his act to turn heel on someone in order to get a title or a world title shot.
I'm not sure if I would like to see Eugene as a world champion but it would be a badass storyline to have Eugene turn on John Cena after befriending him for a couple months. Then backstage, show him with his hair slicked back, lighting up a cigarette, and then say "Please Todd, call me Nick."

Heh, well, thanks. Like I said, though, you could go in other directions with losing the gimmick, but I just don't buy that Nick has to be stuck as Eugene in order to stay in WWE. And I would bet they probably sold him on the concept with the idea that they would probably lose it on down the line (only for him to be stuck with it to the point of starting to turn the audience against him, as Tribal Prophet pointed out above).
Anyway, we'll have to see if he's even going to be AROUND first. I hope so. He paid his dues in OVW, was a trainer there, and the audience loved him. From watching him in OVW, I always thought he worked best as a heel, rather than a face, however. His face-time (which lasted quite a while) was a bit too bland for my taste.

I love this idea, especially if he turns on Shelton Benjamin. Both guys seem to have the potential to do much more than they're doing, and having "Eugene" turn on tag partner Benjamin after a loss and completely dismantle & bloody him would be an amazingly cool visual.

I always thought an injury angle was the way to go. Have some heel beat the crap out of Eugene, just murder him. And better if it's just to be a jerk.
Next week, and emotional Nick comes out, different hair and walking normally you'd never confuse Nick and Eugene but you can tell they're related, right? Nick cuts a promo about how all his little brother wanted was to be a wrestler, and heel wrestler X destroyed that dream for no reason. "Now, I'm no wrestler, but I'm a pretty good athlete. I'm going to train and when I get back, I'm coming for YOU!"
Heel wrestler can interrupt at this point, Nick can hold his own for a bit but eventually gets beaten down. Give him a few weeks to train, with Sean Mooney or Craig DeGeorge or somesuch (I can't remember their names anymore) reporting on how Nick is just as much a wrestling prodigy as his brother.
It would be great if they could do a Eugene heel storyline, while acknowledging the fact that he's Eric Bischoff's nephew. Also, it would be good fun if they could incorporate Wiliam Regal, his original "trainer", in the heel turn.

Last week in Manchester, England, Nick Eugene Dinsmore was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital after he was found passed out in a hotel lobby.
After regaining consciousness, Dinsmore admitting to taking Somas and other prescription medication. As a result of the incident, he was sent home from the WWE International tour and suspended indefinitely.
Since returning home, Dinsmore has agreed to seek professional help. He flew to an undisclosed location, where he will spend the next two weeks being evaluated at a drug rehabilitation facility.
Good for him & the company on second chances. I hope that they see fit to bring him back with a slight character change.
Somas and booze are what killed Louie Mucciolo. Depending on the amount, Dinsmore may have dodged a bullet.
Here's hoping he gets the help he needs. He's got quite a road ahead of him, but maybe his old on-screen chum William Regal can show him a thing or two.
The thing that gets me about Dinsmore OD'ing on painkillers is that I never would have imagined his matches took such a heavy toll on his body. Maybe he was bumping like a madman in OVW (and perhaps that's when the problem started), but as Eugene his matches focus more on comedy and nostalgia spots--he's not doing moonsaults every night, he's biting guys on the ass like JYD.
I'm glad he's getting help, but if portraying Eugene takes that kind of toll on a man, I can't imagine how the rest of the roster holds up.
I'm sorry to see this happen to any wrestler, and truly hope he can conquer his demons.
I've been a big fan of Eugene's character since he debutted, especially his work with Regal. Since he got hurt, and was out of action during the draft, however, I think his character was also hurt by losing Regal to Smackdown without the Regal turn that was being built so well.
Even though tag team breakups can be overdone or sometimes just done poorly, when they are done effectively they can be compelling, entertaining stories. Perhaps under the recent circumstances I am looking too favorably back on the Chavo/Eddie breakup when Chavo turned on Eddie, but I do recall at the time many of us were saying "That's how to do a heel turn on a tag partner!"
Since both Eugene and Regal have very good ring skills and know how to make a match work, coupled with their mic skills, I felt cheated when Regal was sent to SD! and they never paid off on the storyline.
It didn't help that one of Eugene's early matches after his return was against Kurt, who really had to work to make the crowd boo him.
So, the Eugene character will be absent again, and I hope he's able to come back. I wouldn't mind if upon his return, Eric told him he's been gone too much, and has one chance to keep his job or else he'd be cut, or traded to SD! Then, he could be welcomed back by Regal, but confused at Regal's heelishness, until ultimately we get the match between them. Last time I checked, Regal's not doing all that much now either.
From what I've read, Regal's had his own share of painkiller/medication issues and has made it through some nasty times. Like I said, I hope he can make it through the rough times as he is quite a talent.
