I still don't like Ana Lucia.

I still like Bernard and Mr. Echo.

I didn't think they could do it, but they did get me to like Ana Lucia. She looks brave as hell after taking out Goodwin. I already like her a lot more than Shannon, although that's not saying much.

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
Did it look to anyone else like Ana shoots Sayid in next week's episode? First of all, he was already pissed, now he's gonna destroy her ass, and second of all, I thought there was only one bullet left in that gun

edit:

So what did it mean when Ana Lucia asked Goodwin about why they only took certain people? He said they only took the good one's. Was it just the ramblings of a mad man or did it mean something.

For once, I'm left really disappointed by a Lost episode. This was pretty much straightforward as far as what we thought had happened. The way that they found the bunker was rather lame. (Then again, at least it wasn't because of a fumbled flashlight.) How did they get it open from the outside, though. I guess it wasn't unlocked. Interested to see the Quarantine again on the inside of the door.

I'll admit, I thought Nathan was the mole. Even when Goodwin killed him, I thought maybe he was doing it because he'd rather he die quickly than be tortured by Ana Lucia. The fact that I remembered thinking something was up with Goodwin when he ran out of the jungle and then promptly forgot that made me feel dumb when Ana Lucia brought it up later. Still, the tension with the two of them alone with the knife was intense.

How did Ana Lucia dig the hole so deep? Wouldn't she have needed help climbing out?

The end part with the flashbacks of the last few episodes set to that annoying drumbeat was just dumb. I missed the first five minutes of South Park for a recap? Dumb.

Still, I look forward to next week. If for no other reason than the payoff to the Rose-Bernard love story.

It kinds of sucks how this week's cliffhanger was last week's cliffhanger, but oh well.

The first ten minutes of this episode were such an awesome 'classic Lost' kind of vibe before the show got into the shelters and waterfalls and whatnot. The real eye-opener was the radio message they got from 'the survivors from flight 815' before Ana shut the radio off. Don't tell me that there's another group of castaways from the nose of the plane or something. Maybe Lindelof and Abrams are saving that surprise for next season.

Weren't there 23 people who crashed originally? Ana, Libby, Bernard, Mr. Echo, Stewardess, Nathan, the nine kids who got taken, the four guys who got killed the first night, the guy with the broken leg who got infected...that's only 21. Am I missing a couple somewhere?

That was Boone on the radio in the Nigerian plane back right before it falls off the cliff.

I forgot to mention that its odd that Rose said Bernard was in the bathroom when the plane crashed, but he was found buckled in a seat. I suppose he could have had time to get in a seat, but as I said, it seems odd.

Yeah -- I assume he was on his way back when the turbulence started, so he grabbed the first available seat and strapped himself in.

I was fooled by Nathan too, especially when he said he was from "Canada." Who else was from Canada? Ethan! So I had a brief, delirious moment of envisioning yet another group on the island, this one consisting entirely of rogue Canadians with similar-sounding names. Then, the shocking swerve occurred, and I realized I had been set up. Eh.

My son, who is the Lost conspiracy theorist in our house, thought the same thing. During commercials he was saying Nathan - Ethan - Canada. You can't trust anyone from Canada!.

I think he was crushed when Goodwin was revealed as the real "other".

I don't like the Ana Lucia character either. For one, anyone who is so damn certain of themselves is going to rub me the wrong way. But then when that person who is so damn certain of themselves is constantly WRONG, that is pretty much going to peg my annoyance meter. She is responsible for killing two innocent people. And yet the other characters just defer leadership to her, when she's done nothing to earn it? In my mind, I wouldn't argue if they threw HER into a pit. But I think that for some reason, we are suppose to consider her one of the "good guys". Don't know how much of this is writing and how much of it is acting, but I don't think the character is really working how it is suppose to.

Did they explain exactly why Nathan was gone for those two hours? They purposely had his character appear shady, and had him make sure he avoided answering and/or dodged questions about himself. The character didn't make too much of an effort to stand up for himself against the accusation of being one of the Others when he was locked in the pit, either.

The crux of the explanation came from Goodwinn, who said that Nathan wasn't "a good person," whatever that means. I found that to be kind of a throw-away explanation, and a little lazy.

Personally, I like the Ana Lucia character. She's the only one of the Tailies with the capacity to lead, in that she's willing to take charge and take risks. The other members of the group seem a little feeble, with the only exception being Mr. Ecko, who went into a depressive state for 40 days where he wouldn't speak. So that automatically disqualifies him.

Remember that a character doesn't necessarily have to be perfect, or all that likable, to be intriguing. As for shooting Shannon...well, she was understandably jumpy, and it could be argued that for the wrong decisions she had made she was the reason the Tailies had even survived for 48 days.

I don't know if I'd say Mr Echo was in a depressive state. One theory floating around last night was that he was silent for 40 days as "punishment" for killing the Others.

I was having trouble switching Josh Randall (the actor)from his character as Doctor Mike on "Ed." We were also convinced with the whole "Ethan" and "Nathan" sound-a-like names.

I also think that Mr. Eko was silent as punishment.

Hey, someone else noticed that, too. Now we've had 2 "Ed" alumni make appearances on Lost.

Or it could hint at why The Others do what they do. They're taking the "good people" while leaving the "bad people" to fend for themselves. I wouldn't classify it as a throw-away explanation quite yet.

Count me in as another fooled by the Nathan/Ethan thing.

After what they left us with last week, this week was yet another "filler" episode. Nothing new. The only real thing was that we know for sure that it was Ana Lucia who killed Shannon. We didn't see the gun fire last week, so I had to put up with conspiracy theorists who thought Desmond or Crazy French Woman shot Shannon while Lucia just happened to hold a gun who's chamber just had been emptied. Whew.

The opening ten minutes were pretty cool, and reminiscent of the first Lost, I'll give it that. Plane crashes are always fun to watch as long as you're not in one. The little backstory about Mr. Eko, who fasted for lent after killing those guys, was good and let him just be silent badass monk for a bit.

This episode did nothing for Ana Lucia, and I still hate her, but I think I'm supposed to. Now, we have to wait an extra week to see how they handle the Lucia/Sayid situation when they could have just showed us last week.

I also couldn't get past Nathan as being Mike from Ed...and I couldn't get past Goodwin being Martell, the asshole QB from The Replacements.

Now that I think about it, I guess there's no reason there couldn't have been TWO members of "the others" that infiltrated the "tailies" group. Maybe Nathan was with "the others", and was killed by Goodwin because he was afraid Nathan would talk (and thus "wasn't a good person"). If you think about it, what motivation did Goodwin have to kill Nathan? As long as Nathan was around, it kept the heat off him. Just a thought that's probably wrong.

My prediction is that Eko is a Nigerian priest, which will somehow tie him in with the small plane Locke and Boone found, since they made a point of saying that the people on the plane were Nigerian drug-runners dressed as priests. Locke heard Boone on the radio (pretty sure), and perhaps Bernard mention that they heard someone on the radio say that they were survivors from the flight. Locke will then probably tell them about the plane. I get the feeling that Locke and Eko will hit it off pretty well.

Also, seeing him with the bible in the bunker, I figured that he was fasting and silent for 40 days as a form of prayer and sacrifice (as Jesus fasted and was in prayer for 40 days in The Bible), and he had also told Bernard that he would pray for Rose, and the other survivors.

Didn't Goodwin say something to the effect of "after you chopped off his finger you might have started to believe him"? Goodwin had to kill Nathan.

Did anybody see the "Dharma Initiative" website lately (www.dharmainitiative.com)? It's got some hidden text on the front page (just highlight it). This is either a spoiler (hence the spoiler tag) or a huge joke. And what's with the netmeeting thing on the front page, too? That's not a fan site, right? It's an "official" Lost page?

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
Phase 3 Disclosure: The Dharma Initiative is not a secret international research project. You see, the island is part of another "dimension", I guess you'd call it, and is sort of "in between" the universes that are made of light matter and dark matter. We call it "Dharma". It's part of a whole planet that is pretty much available for colonization. It could also be used as a future conduit for inter-dimensional/intergalactic travel. The only problem is that we can't exist there naturally. The island only materializes when there's a solar eclipse. During that time the unique electromagnetic frequency added to the gravitational distortion allows both it and us to exist within the same space. But that "effect only lasts for 108 minutes, and then the island disappears from our world, taking any inanimate matter with it that's left behind.

If you were standing on the island after the primary eclipse period ended and the 108 minutes were up, you'd feel a great big suck of air and then "PLOP!" you'd fall right back into the ocean. Naked.

We are trying to change that. Actually, Majestic 13 developed a machine years ago that allows us to exist there. It's weird, but once us and the island "disappear" into the Dharma dimension, we have days and nights just like the earth one. But we can't travel more than 42 kilometers outside the machine's effective range.

The plan is to develop a way to genetically engineer animals with the right quantum frequency so they can exist in Dharma on their own. That's what the project is all about, and until now it's been classified.

The fictional tv series "Lost" is part of the worldwide disclosure plan.

...just in case the writers/producers have completely lost their minds. I'm positive it's a joke. During interviews, those involved with the show tend to mention some of the more ridiculous rumors/theories that spread about the show, including ones like that. I'm not sure if it's an "official" Lost site or not, but regardless it seems to exist just to have a little fun with the audience (notice also the "UnLocke" button).

Watch out for the Dharmainitiative site. I haven't seen anything that says it's a legit site, but I've read plenty about people visiting it ending up with their computers infested with spyware and trojans...

As far as the episode went, the timing seemed off for some reason. You're telling me it was 40 days in before Boone used the radio? You're telling me that it's only been a week since he died?
