... Got a couple of Angle shirts from a few years ago, a "The Truth Hurts" and a "You Suck -- It's True". Have an Austin "Fock Fear -- Drink Beer", also. I wear 'em, but mostly in my home or a good friends' home. Out in public, they're usually covered by a jacket.

Rest in peace.

I never personally bought any WWE t-shirts because they are just plain out horrible. But, my ex-boyfriend got me a Matt Hardy shirt; the black shirt with the purple and silver V.1 in the front and the back says "The Sensei of Mattitude". I never wore it because well... I have boobs.

Thinking back... maybe that's why he got that t-shirt that was a Medium and I wear large...

I got a Sting tee for a gift a long time ago. It's in the closet somewhere and hasn't seen light in about seven years.

I've got a Hulkamania shirt from like 86 or something, but I never wear it. It doesn't really fit me anymore. But it's in my drawer. I have an nwo B/W shirt that I wear on occasion.

The few shirts I have are really, really old. I have one for Shawn Michaels that somehow still fits (but never gets worn because it's har dto explain the shirtless, posing man on your t-shirt), and I think I still have an old Undertaker shirt somewhere.

I'm with all of the other people who said that if WWE would stop putting the damn logos and asinine catchphrases on the backs of shirts, I'd probably buy more.

Then he got his ass beaten in New England again. Every year he's the top MVP candidate. Every year he's supposed to be the best. Every year he's going to carry the Colts to the Super Bowl. And every single year he goes to New England and gets his ass beaten. And his brother's a whiny little bitch." -A friend of mine, on Peyton Manning

I've owned the Dean Malenko Eyes of Ice shirt, the brilliant X-ray Victim of the Crossface shirt, and the Eddie Guerrero Tobasco label shirt.

Back in the day, I saw a Latino World Order shirt for sale at a kiosk in Toronto's Eaton Centre. I meant to get it, but I had something else to do first. I forgot to pick it up, and I was bummed out when I couldn't find the shirt again.

I had a three-quarter sleeve British Bulldogs shirt back in the day...I'm sure it's long gone by now!

I'm with Frosty...I don't like the black t-shirt look.

Holy crap, Jamie-your post just reminded me I had the same shirt when I was 15. It had red sleeves, and the Union Jack on the front, with Matilda's mug in the middle, IIRC. On the back it said, "#1 Tag Team The British Bulldogs" in old English script.

I got it at a house show in Maple Leaf Gardens in 1986, and my parents were incensed that I spent $15 on it. I ended up giving it to my small-town cousin the following summer.

That's it, Rob...except it was only the Union Jack on the front, no picture of Matilda.

That's the only wrestling t-shirt I've ever purchased...from a house show at the Halifax Forum in about '84 or '85.

I used to wear the Dean Malenko "Eyes of Ice" shirt for gym class in high school, which I bought at a WCW house show, and I also bought a Goldberg shirt and an ECW shirt at a thrift store to wear as a joke.

I mean, I look at all the shirts at places like Urban Outfitters, and I think how they could crack that market. Like the Carlito shirt. They could have sold the blue shirt with the apple-face and people who had no idea who he was would buy it, but they had to slap the HUGE-text slogan on the back, which just makes it go from snarky to stupid.

I remember saying something like this in a column and getting some really furious hate mail from people who thought that, "If I cared about wrestling, then [I] would be proud to wear shirts like that" [with dumb slogans in 400 pt.] "because it sells the product to other people and proves how much of a fan you are."

In a weird way, I think he'd hit upon the origins of my revulsion and the impetus for WWE designing the shirts they do. In my case, I don't mind giving WWE my money for their products. But I do dislike being turned into a giant goofy huckstery ad for a company. And I especially resent the idea of paying a company to advertize for it. If that makes me less of a fan, big deal. I don't need to prove my fandom to anyone, least of all the company.

I think WWE realizes that enough hardcore fans and enough young kids are going to like enough shirts and proudly wear these cotton "sandwich board" advertisements that it's worth it to alienate the adults who might otherwise be buying shirts. If you think about it, a shirt with a subtle silhouette of, say, Y2J doesn't sell anything. People already in the know will understand the shirt, but people who don't like wrestling aren't going to see a silhouette of a man and think, "I should tune into USA on Monday nights to see what this man-silhouette show is all about!" But chances are, for every one adult who'd buy a silhouette shirt, there are two ten-year-olds who will buy a "GET ON THE CHAIN GANG" Cena shirt and wear it to the mall, where they walk around aimlessly for four hours every Saturday.

As for shirts, I always wanted to get a Scarface/Latino Heat shirt and also the Jerichohol shirt, but by the time I had enough money to justify buying shirts that I wasn't sure I'd wear all that much, both of the shirts were no longer available from WWE.com. I wish they didn't stop selling shirts so quickly, because in both cases, I fully intended to get them, but I kept putting it off... putting it off... putting it off.

Another quick complaint: the lack of white shirts is another thing that keeps me from buying them. A lot of the time, if I like the design, it's an almost all-black shirt. Unless I really love that design, I won't even consider getting the shirt, because wearing a black shirt in south Florida (for most of the year) is like strapping a hot stove to your back.

Only wrestling shirts I currently own would be the first Radicals and Y2J shirts that the WWF produced. Used to have the original Macho Man t-shirt that I picked up at a house show back in 86 or 87.

-- A Cactus Jack "Wanted Dead" one with the old-school WWF block logo.
-- A Chris Jericho "Jerichoholic/12 Steps" one, the pride and joy of my collection.
-- A Christian "Captain Charisma" one that I bought at a RAW taping earlier this year.
-- A Carlito "I Know Cool..." one which I've yet to wear.

Next on my list to find: a Los Guerreros "Cheat 2 Win/It's a Family Tradition" one.

It's good to see that the WWE isn't backing away from Batista or Cena. There's still some questions lingering over a few of the draft moves they either made or didn't make (Jericho being a prime example), but the stage is set for a solid run to Summerslam that may send the indicator down. The longer Triple H stays away is also a plus...

I have a bWo shirt that I hardly wear outside the house anymore. I kept wearing it after the bWo disbanded, but I felt like I had to stop after they eventually broke up the nWo. The explanation of "it's a shirt for a defunct parody in a defunct organization of a defunct group in WCW" was just getting to be to much of a mouthful.

Yep. I used to have the "Stone Cold University/Class of 3:16" t-shirt that I bought at a RAW taping back in 1996. I wore that to school a couple times, and that was the end of that. A few years later I picked up a "Jerichoholics Anonymous" shirt, which I still have and occassionally wear under a sweater or button-down shirt. Certainly not as embarrassing as the "SCU" one.

The most recent t-shirt purchased was WWE's re-introduction of the "ECW" black-and-white barbed wire logo t-shirt that I got packaged with the "Rise and Fall of ECW" DVD. For some reason, I'm able to wear that out in public (and even out at bars!) and not only not get ragged about it, but get a few compliments and people approaching me. Go figure.

It should be noted that I usually wear my leather jacket (opened) over it, which I realize now probably makes me look like I'm trying to be the Irish version of Tommy Dreamer.

Kurt Angle: SUBMIT and YOU SUCK
Hurricane: HURRICANE COMICS
Undertaker: UNHOLIER THAN THOU
Rock: LAYETH THE SMACKETH DOWN

I usually just wear 'em to the gym or around the house these days.

I also have three Cactus Jack WANTED: DEAD shirts, but only wear them to wrestling shows or the like.

I own the blue Carlito "I Know Cool" shirt and I wanted to own the Team Angle shirt of early '03, but I missed out on that one.

And my thing with the WWE shirts, too, is the big ass WWE logo on the top-center of the back of the shirt. Ew!!!

Like the Carlito shirt wouldn't even look like a wrestling shirt if it wasn't for that. So disappointing. And they fail to show that logo on WWEShop.com.

Oh well.

I have quite a few, but haven't bought any in years. The original Austin 3:16, of which I actually have two... bought one at a house show, then won one during the IYH: DX chat on the old WWE area on AOL. At one point I had a couple knockoffs of that design, but I don't remember exactly what they looked like. Then there was the bloody Austin 3:16 shirt, with the shot of him at WMXIII on the back.

As they say in history, "then for a while nothing happened." I eventually got the Monday Night Jericho shirt from WCW, which is still my favorite to this day. I also got the original Y2J shirt when he jumped over. The last big-time wrestling shirt I ever got was the red-and-black Edge and Christian shirt, which I still love. The only wrestling shirts I've bought since were two from Kaiju Big Battel, a Dr. Cube shirt and a multi-wrestler shirt tagged with the line "Danger Can Happen."
