And now CNN's also calling it an official cancellation. Damn it all to hell.

The only good news here is that 7th Heaven's also going down with it. But at least they got over 10 YEARS to fester the airwaves while AD got the Family Guy Deal (find a niche the first season, get jerked around from timeslot-to-timeslot so no one can find it or get accustomed to it, cancel series due to "low ratings").

Thank you, Indian givers at FOX, who supposedly signed on to a TWO YEAR agreement. Yeah, Peter Liguori is now on my s*** list.

Taste the sad.

It's almost worth pointing out that today's articles jumped the gun. Their headlines say the show *was* cancelled, but that's just the assumption from the episode reduction. So technically, Fox has still not officially cancelled the show, but the writing is clearly on the wall. And at this point I'm so sick of seeing the show kicked around that it's like wanting to see a child emancipated from his abusive parents.

I don't know the logistics behind another network. Most in-the-know critics have written that it's unlikely due to the show's costs, but Mitch Hurwitz, Ron Howard, and others have always maintained that they think they have something really special and would not give up if Fox cancelled them.

At the very least/worst, I'm happy that they know ahead of time, with five more episods yet to be filmed, so they can create a finale proper, because without closure for the characters this would be infinitely worse. Of course, they've got eight unaired episodes left and December only has, to the best of my knowledge, four weeks in it. Which seems to indicate we don't get to see them until it's time for the DVD w/ Special Unaired Episodes.

According to Zap2It, AD hasn't been cancelled yet.

This article by Tim Goodman answers all the pertinent questions about the show's future, like the likelihood of another network picking it up and whether there's a small chance Fox will bring it back despite the order reduction.

Adult Swim's got them for only 10 more months - maybe if they were around for longer (and they had half hour programming that drew as well), they'd take them out for a while.
