I'm going to go with the wanton mistreatment of the difference between they're, there, and their.

On a similar note, I'd go with any time someone puts an apostrophe-s at the end of a word incorrectly. Just because the word is plural does not mean you have to insert an apostrophe!

Going to have to go with various misuses of your and you're, with people saying ideal when they mean idea coming in a close second. (that is a common occurance down here in Kentucky that I have noticed since my move here ten years ago).

You are all wrong!

It is by far the use of "they" as a 3rd person singular pronoun.

Nearly everyone makes this mistake and it is a very hard habit to break.

I can't tell what you mean - give an example, please.

Oh, and Looser or Loose instead of Loser or lose is probably the worst, but retarted pisses me off everytime I see that as well. It's retarded (and you shouldn't be using it most of the time that you do!)

The misuse of your and you're takes me out of anything I read when I see it happen. Same with their, there and they're.

Nothing pisses me off like people inserting the letter R where it doesn't belong, such as Warshington or idear. It's like fingernails on a blackboard to me.

You've seen it enough on this board and anywhere else that discusses wrestling. Pronounced foo-ed, I assume?

Everyone else knocked off the good ones (your/you're, there/their/they're). But add in repeated hatchet jobs on various names (mostly by my father, as if he is to be believed, Steinfeld was one of the definitive 90's sitcoms and Cingulair is a cell phone company).

Two things:

1) Missing commas - I hate when people don't punctuate correctly.

2) IM speak - I hate when people can't be bothered to spell out "you" or have to say "lol". I find that whole type of conversation very irksome.

I believe I speak for the elderly folks on this board when I say we need a translation.

I thought of another one: the free use of acronyms that not everyone knows the meaning of in your writing. That is frequently done in technical writing and it is frustrating.

Oh, and its and it's - another common and frustrating common misuse. Its is possessive, people!

People who don't use capital letters to begin sentences really bother me. As do chatters who use the number zero in lieu of the letter "O" and other lackadaisical short forms.

You'll find people who chat on SMS chat lines (AirG, Kalador, and others) are prone to that.

The worst abuse? Ebonics. To quote the man, Bill Cosby...

"It doesnt want to speak English. I cant even talk the way these people talk. Why you aint where you is go, ra. I dont know who these people are. And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk. Then I heard the father talk. This is all in the house. You used to talk a certain way on the corner and you got into the house and switched to English. Everybody knows its important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You cant land a plane with, Why you aint You cant be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth."

Axe, I be, 'where you at', a'ight, all of it makes my ears bleed.

People saying "Axe" instead of "Ask" drives me up the wall.

"Supposibly" instead of "supposedly" sends me to the edge.

And when people spell "ridiculous", "rEdiculous" it just pisses me off for some reason...

To add to the previously-listed examples...

It's not, "should of." It's not, "could of." It's not, "would of."

It's, "should have." It's, "could have." It's, "would have."

Learn it. Live it. Love it.

None of those commas should be there. ;-)

The complete ignorance of the definition "literally."

And when did everyone starts using "I'm like" instead of "I said?"

I find myself continually laughing like an idiot at "The Lebrons" commercials that Nike is doing to promote Lebron James new sneaker. if you haven't seen it, it is basically Lebron playing himself (a.k.a. "athlete Lebron")
