This is just the sort of thing that DVR was invented for. Like most on this board, I have better things to do on New Year's Eve than watch TNA. And even if I didn't, I think being inside watching wrestling on that night would make me suicidal, so I'd have to pass anyhow.
Well i must be a loser because I've got nothing better to do on New Year's Eve.
But even if you do go to a friend's house or party for New Year's Eve is a good thing for a bunch of drunk guys to get together and watch so why not put it on New Year's Eve?
To be fair, ECW did its best on X-Mas Eve and New Year's Eve back in '99. And Vince had a comp show later that night on New Year's Eve, culminating with Jericho welcoming in the millenium. If it worked on a Friday Night New Year's Eve, Saturday Night shouldn't suffer much, as long as they have quality, ala Awesome vs. Tanaka in '99 for ECW. Then again, I watch the Peach Bowl on New Year's Eve, so it's just a question of if the wrestling is better than the game. Peach Bowl has the potential for being a pretty good game this year.
Like RSN said, Vince has done a comp show on New Year's even before, don't they usually do one every year? Could this be the first time TNA and WWE goes head to head?

Recently, it's been the last Monday of the year, pre-empting RAW so they don't have to schedule a TV taping on/near Christmas.
