ekedolphin: Once again, you've got your nWo history down pat. Come to think of it, I've got the buildup to and footage of Henning's turn on a tape WCW put out a couple years back, nWo 4 Life!
Good stuff, man.
Star wipe, and...we're out. Thrillin' ain't easy. . . THE THRILL ACW-TV...er, Home Video Technical Director...and Circle Too 4 Life!
This is supposed to be irony, right? Please say yes. I don't think I can live in a world where Big Stevie Cool is or ever was considered a badass by anyone.
As far as actual Raw thoughts go...
Um... the Big Show turn was kind of a necessary evil I guess. Scott Hall and X-Pac do not a legitimate threat make.
HHH segment. Kind of cool, I guess. It was one of those things that kind of made me feel good about the split, like they're actually utilizing it in some sort of way. People want the two shows to feud, but that's dumb because then the fans might not want to watch the heel show. Mostly it's just a self-imposed limitation to allow "special" moments like this or the tag team reunions at the PPV.
Speaking of tag teams... yeah, why bother at this point? No matter how many people Booker and Goldie beat, it can't really go anywhere, unless they invent new titles, which I wouldn't put past them.
I can't stand Ric Flair anymore. I don't mean as a human being, but I just want to go out there and spit on the whiny little bastard he's portraying right now. He sounded like an eighth grade teacher talking to Kevin Nash and his "wah please don't hate me Austin" act was nauseating. I can only hope this is intentional and prelude to a heel turn, although that doesn't really work because in previous weeks it was Austin who was being the obnoxious asshole. That's the problem with shade of grey angles: you end up hating everyone.
See, I'm not a workrate freak and I'm not the kind of guy to get all pissy about Jericho or Benoit or whomever not getting their shot like they're my best friend or something... but jeeze, Hogan as champ kinda sucks royally, don't it? I understand the justification and probably would have put the belt on him myself if I had a financial stake in the company, but... ick. Watching him decked out in garish red and yellow delivering his "I really should be delivering this from a sound stage with a big 'Hulkamania' graphic in the background" promo was just... well, frankly embarassing. I can only hope the crowd turns on him ASAP.
The whole problem I have with the Flair/Austin angle is Flair apologizing for the slow-count and saying that he likes Austin. Hasn't this man received something like 3 or 4 unprovoked stunners? 1 at the signing, 1 the week after, 1 1/2 the next week (he went for it, but stopped half way), and he's sorry? Basically in this angle Flair is being played up to be a guy with 0 in the balls dept., but if were to try to strike back, the "what?" monkeys would boo him. Aah, the world of sports entertainment, where being a complete prick is the key to being over as a face. (or being a part of the childhood of every wrestling fan)
sigh...I miss Foley.

Amen to that. He was like the only high level face ever to be portrayed as remotely sympathetic in the last three years.
You know what's funny about the Hogan thing? Looking in the crowd yesterday, it looked like the people in Hulkamania shirts were still like only sixteen at the oldest. Que? Either they're new Hogan fans, they're nostalgic about watching wrestling as toddlers, or Hogan marks are stringy little bastards destined to get carded at bars until their hairlines start receding.
I truly think Ric Flair is going heel. even more so I don't necessary see Big Show as nWo but more as Flairs lacky (ie remember who Flair called on to get Vince out of the arena on episode 1- do the writers remember?)
I loved the movie review, I haven't laughed at a silly backstage skit in a long time like that. Give the Book and the Golden one the tag titles now. Just in those 4 minutes it was better then anything any tag team has done in 4ever.
Brock killing Hardyz = greatness. Go away Hardyz, go on another vacation please like when the Taker destroyed you.
Senior Perfecto v. RVD was good, perfectly fine for TV. Eddie added entertainment value in commentating.
The women match was perfectly fine, I love Trish, she's still selling her back (awwww) and thrown so hard into the steps (ouch)... Oh yeah has Lilian stopped smiling since Trish came into the ring
I thought it was funny that Big Lazy Kevin Nash really put no effort into arguing to stay, Flair said leave, and Nash just went okay and left -boy that man is lazy-
WWF raw mainevent was subpar. Raw seems to have a decent hardworking midcard but a lame ending. Xpac and SHow on the main event.. ewwww

Well, they *could*, if they wanted to, salvage that rather easily by going the "Flair was always pro-Austin, even back in WCW" route. Wasn't he the one pushing for Austin to be the next big top-level heel before he got drummed out? With Hogan as a face they can't go the obvious route and blame it on him and his early WCW politicking (unless they BOTH go heel, which... eh), but they could always blame it on some nebulous "people on top" that wanted to hold Austin back... which would also serve to give Austin a little more backstory, explaining his whole "anti-establishment" thing.
Granted, it's fairly smarky, and relies on actually aknowledging that WCW... you know... EXISTED at one point.
Yeah, THAT'LL happen.

I think that the wwf is finally going in the right direction after wrestlemaina. They were on a downward like slide ... anyway din't anyone like RAW? i sure did. the matches were great and the big show joining the nWo was a good swere! didn't see it coming....... Flair is getting too mic time though....... Brock Lensar beat the absolute crap crap out of Matt Hardy was well done!
On the contrary, I have really enjoyed the past few RAWs. I just haven't enjoyed the top card. Booker T and Goldust are being robbed by being in the Tag Team title-less division. RVD + Eddie are making me care about the IC title again. Brock is the coolest new guy since Angle, and has brought back my favorite gimmick, the heel manager. Hell, I even am starting to mark out for the Undertaker again.
Austin/Flair has cool tension, but I'm so mad at the way Austin is treating someone that is only trying to do right by him. Not only have his promos gotten worse since the what?/face turn, but his matches have gotten worse as well. Austin displayed a pretty cool mix of brawling and technical wrestling as a heel, but now every match is punch, punch, punch, punch, irish whip, kick, stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp, punch, repeat.
The nWo lose so much that I laugh every time they are tried to be put over as a threat. The Big Show helps, but it seems like all Hall and X-pac have been doing the past couple weeks is getting intimately acquainted with what ring lights and stadium ceilings look like.

I think the most fun I had watching wrestling was in 1992, with WCW Saturday Night on TBS. It started at 6:05pm and ran for two hours. The jobbers were different of course, and my favorite was The Gambler.
