They announced that Nash was out of the main-event. No replacement has been announced yet.

Sonjay Dutt d. Austin Aries, Alex Shelley, and Roderick Strong. This match was TREMENDOUS~! They gave them about 14 minutes, and they filled it up with some of the greatest action you could hope for. The crowd was insanely into it. Dutt won with a somersault into a hurricanrana on Strong. Fantastic opener.

Raven came out and demanded that he replace Nash. LARRY came out and said he'd make a decision his way, not Raven's way. Raven attacked him and Larry tried to get him thrown out. Rhino came down and said 5 years ago Raven would have beat the shit out of LARRY, crucified someone, and stole someone's family (that was 9 years ago, but whatever). Rhino said a girl had gotten to Raven's head, Raven went insane, was thrown out, and Rhino gored Cassidy Reily.

Awesome video package, because David Sahadi is god, and pyro.

Samoa Joe d. Jushin Liger in the PPV opener. Joe came out to a Samoan dance tribe. Liger came out to his JAPANESE MUSIC and the crowd threw STREAMERS~! YAY IMPACT ZONE~!~!~! Joe won with a muscle buster and Kokina clutch. WAY too short, as they only got 10 minutes. Really good match, but I have no clue why they weren't given another 8 minutes.

Simon Diamond, Elix Skipper, & David Young d. Shark Boy, Sonny Siaki, & Apolo. Seems kind of out of place on this show. This match could easily have been left off in order to give Joe/Liger more time. Apollo did a cool looking flip dive, which the crowd appreciated. Diamonds in the Rough won, which has to be a first. The match was fine for what it was.

Monty Brown got in Jarrett's face, basically challenging him for the Title.

Monty Brown d. Lance Hoyt. This was much better than you'd expect it to be. At one point, Monty told some fans to move. He then started to throw Hoyt into their section, but instead threw him into the ring. Now THAT was funny. Good nearfall with a Hoyt moonsault. Monty got the pin with the pounce.

Kip James offered 3 Live Kru backup. BG & Killings liked it, but Konnan wasn't happy.

Team Canada d. 3 Live Kru. My cable box acted up, and I missed most of the match. From what I saw, I didn't miss much. Eric Young hit BG with a hockey stick for the win. Team Canada attacked 3LK after the match, and Kip pulled BG out of harms way. He then acted as if he was going to hit Konnan with a chair, but instead ran off Team Canada.

Petey Williams d. Matt Bentley and Chris Sabin in Ultimate X. The match was going on very well, and then the X fell. They repositioned it, Bentley & Sabin took a bump off the wires, and it started to fall again. Williams got underneath like he was going to catch it. And, sure enough, the X fell and Petey caught it. TNA said "fuck it" at this point, and Petey was announced the winner. It's really too bad that the last 3 minutes were so botched up, because this was the second best match of the night up to that point (so far, the pre-show match has blown away the actual PPV). All three looked unhappy in the end.

America's Most Wanted d. The Naturals to retain the NWA Tag Team Titles. One of the AMW was blinded with powder, and hit his partner with the catatonic. This led to The Naturals hitting the death sentence for a near fall. AMW then cuffed Andy Douglas to the guardrail, used a beer bottle on Chase Stevens, and hit the death sentence for the win. Good match.

Rhino d. Jeff Hardy, Sabu, and Abyss in Monster's Ball. Insane match. The most memorable thing was Jeff Hardy doing a swanton from the top of the entrance set, overshooting the stage, all the way down to Abyss who was on a table on the floor. That was probably Jeff's most insane bump ever (and think of the ground that covers), as if he was just a LITTLE off he would have either knocked his head against the stage or landed ass first on the concrete. Abyss teased using the tacks, but Rhino hit him with a gore through the table. Rhino then hit Jeff Hardy with a second rope piledriver for the win. Crowd chanted "That was awesome" afterwards.

Larry announced a ten-man gauntlet match (royal rumble) with the winner getting the NWA Title shot. Add a 30-minute Ironman match on top of that, and I guess that explains the rush job earlier.

AJ Styles d. Christopher Daniels in a 30-minute Ironman Match to retain the X-Division Title. Excellent match. Styles and Daniels traded nearfalls for the last 3 minutes, until AJ hit the Styles Clash with about 8 seconds left, and scored the only pin of the match. Great, great match.

Rhino won the #1 Contendership Gauntlet Match, last eliminating Abyss. Raven was not in it, apparantly being kept out of it by LARRY. Samoa Joe and Ron Killings started out. Monty Brown, Lance Hoyt, Sabu, Jeff Hardy, Kip James, and AJ Styles were also in the match. Crowd seemed to want Joe to win. Crowd died about half-way through, obviously tired out.

Rhino d. Jeff Jarrett to win the NWA Title. Match lasted about 7 minutes. Nothing really to it. Tito Ortiz was distracted with Gail Kim, and Jarrett got a guitar. Rhino tried to gore him, and Jarrett WHACKED him with the guitar. It only got 2. AMW came down and gave Jarrett another guitar, but Rhino gored him before he could use it, for the win.

Afterwards, Jarrett & AMW attacked Rhino. 3LK tried to save, but Team Canada attacked them. They put Rhino in a casket. Team 3D then made a suprise appearance (the place went NUTS for them) and cleaned house. Rhino got out of the casket and Eric Young was put in it. Rhino celebrated with the title, and the crowd (who had died midway through the gauntlet match) went INSANE to close out the show.

Overall, not the blowaway show I was hoping for and expecting. Joe/Liger was too short, the Ultimate X match was great but was tarnished by the botched ending, and the show was pretty rushed overall.

That said, it was still a tremendous show. Styles/Daniels is worth getting the replay to see, and the Monsters Ball match, for what it was, was tremendous. If you can get a copy of the pre-show, then DO IT, because that fourway was blowaway stuff. The ending with Team 3D, the fans chanting for Rhino, etc was a good way to close the show.

Not the 'Greatest PPV Ever' that I was hoping for, but still a damn good show, and certainly heads and shoulders and everything else ahead of WWE's last few PPVs.

The answer to WWE's financial problems...

Never 'Wiener of the Day', and is actually quite bitter about it.

Like some many do after watching an NWA: TNA PPV say...I remember why I like to watch wrestling again. From the preshow down to the end. I was treated to awesome matches that even with botches shame the WWE standards.

Now some the main stories out of this PPV I'm interested in following is...Raven shafted by "NWA Championship Committee". Rhino as Champion. Team 3D and the Jarrett faction. Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, and AMW/Naturals thing.

I'm enjoyed it even when the crowd sorta died near the end but I don't think they expected the Rhino win. That was an awesome show. I hope the upcoming Thursday special does well on Spike.

After my rant last night about the Monster's Ball folks appearing on Impact, they have Rhino come out for a promo WHILE HE'S LOCKED UP WITH NO FOOD, WATER, OR LIGHT??? Did they explain this at all? Yeesh?

Still, I'd much rather have Rhino as champ than Jarrett, and this should start his reign nicely. Sounds like a good show.

Rhyno World Heavyweight Champion somehow doesn't really drive me to watch this program any time soon.

Yeah. Tenay said, during the match, that they had been locked up from midnight the night before until the beginning of the PPV. Again, not really a correction, but more of a retrofitting.

Rhino obviously only showed up for the preshow because -- well, because all of a sudden he was going to be NWA Champion in a few hours. It's important enough to give him that extra time than to worry too much about Monster's Ball stips, I guess.

I agree with Omega -- solid show, not a blowaway.

I thought the end of the Ultimate X actually worked pretty well from a storyline standpoint -- Petey realizes that the X can, in fact, simply fall off, and uses the next opportunity to take advantage of that. Fits his character.

This is why wrestling used to be fun to watch.

Great show. It became a bit much for me, but feel like I shouldn't complain about so much good wrestling in three hours. I'm just not used to that. There was truly no time for a bathroom break, the longer the show went. The unsung heroes of the night should be Tenay/West, who somehow went through 3.5 hours of almost uninterupted action. They clearly fed off the crowd's reactions and the top-level performances of all the wrestlers - Elix Skipper being the exception! lol

The 4-way submission in the preshow match was awesome. All four guys were made to look like stars. I didn't know who was going to win the whole time. Roderick Strong is my new favorite wrestler, thanks to this match.

I was disappointed by Liger - he seemed sluggish, maybe even hesitant. Joe's had better matches. It seemed like they knew they didn't have enough time to get anything going, but it was still good.

Diamonds in the Rough have a good backstory. It's little details like the inner turmoil and growing tension that hark back to the Russo days of "WWF" when every guy on the roster had something to do and a place on the show. The crowd is begging to be allowed to boo Apollo and Siaki. This was filler, but decent. How many times did Skipper screw up? I counted two moves, and he looked really down on himself after the second one.

Monty/Hoyt became VERY fun toward the end.

Team Canada/3LK. Another filler match which became a lot of fun. The Kip James element was annoying a few months ago when BG James had to choose sides. Now it's actually interesting. Some may disagree, but I say kudos to TNA anyway.

How could you not feel sorry for Daniels and Styles after their match? Styles was definitely banged up worse than he showed, and he was still showing quite a bit of it, all nasty bruises aside. Great match.

AMW/Naturals was better than I expected. The last 5 minutes were exciting as it looked impossible for AMW to win, but you still had to think they would find a way. Whether or not you like the shot they keep doing with a bottle, they are playing their heel roles exceptionally well. James Storm has been stealing every scene he's in since the funeral - and I thought he was the one with no charisma!

The monster's ball match surprised the heck out of me. I expected a typical hardcore match. Instead, I was unable to look away.

Someone already said it, but the crowd TOTALLY wanted Joe to win the gauntlet. When he was the first guy to walk out, my jaw dropped, because I'd forgotten all about him thanks to the previous 2 hours of great performances. He seemed to be the favorite the whole way through and the crowd died once he and AJ were thrown out together. Abyss will forever be the bride's maid of all battle royals!

Fantastic and furious end to the PPV. Orlando was going nuts for Team 3D and Rhino, which only made the ending about 5 times better than it would have been otherwise.

Finally, Shane Douglas really added a lot tonight as an interviewer with all his reactions. The Jarrett/Larry backstage interview, conducted by Douglas, was proof positive that all three can be entertaining. Douglas was the star of that.

Looking to the future, it looks like we're going to get Samoa Joe/Abyss... a rematch of the Ultimate X at the 2-hour November 3rd show on Spike (it was mentioned that U-X will appear on Spike in early November)... some combination of Rhino/Jarrett/Raven... and who knows what else?!

Yeah, he lost it to JJ at a house show in Canada just before the Spike debut.

I've read the backstage report that New Japan Pro Wrestling President Simon Inoki was introduced to the crowd before the show went on the air, presumably to introduce Liger.

What are the chances do you think Lesnar might be working with TNA, given the possible relationship between TNA and NJPW?

This was my first TNA PPV in about two years, and I was surprised at how far they had moved from their initial programming (no Goldilocks, no midgets, no comedy teams like the Dupps and Flying Elvises). It's a great cast of performers, and the only glaring anomaly was Jarrett as the champ.

I loved this show. The free 30-minute special sold me with a super-good four-way match. The absence of Nash from the main event made it more appealing, and then Rhyno verbally punks out Raven. I liked how Rhyno became a title contender when he came into TNA and always thought him ill-used in the WWF/E, so his run last night was just what I had hoped to see.

I found myself reacting to the show like I hadn't to a WWE PPV in a long time (unless we count the ECW show which technically wasn't a WWE show). I was laughing out loud and whooping it up over some brilliant moves. Top of the list: the Pounce, which may be the funniest manuever since the Big Wiggle. I instantly became a Monty fan. The Lovely Mrs. Tracker also noted that I was enjoying myself more than with WWE shows despite her raging Klingon Death Flu. She got a kick out of Shark Boy, Sonjay, Liger, some others and said aloud, "so THAT"S where Jeff Hardy went."

The only low point of the show was the much-anticipated Iron Man match which became a resthold showcase within five minutes. I expected much more from these two initially, although the big spots were entertaining. I worry that AJ may be truly hurt from that backdrop suplex off the apron.

I had a great time watching this, and would quickly choose to see their next show than pay for another WWE PPV.

He was introduced, and moronically, the director for the show kept the shot on him for way too long, missing some great spots by Alex Shelley in the ring.

This is the one complaint I have about the show: direction. I'm sure the producers of TNA and the show agree. Whoever the director is, his hesitation throughout the show and jumpy reactions to things was off. Off to the point that we the viewers knew there was something happening in the ring, but for some reason, we get a crowd shot that lasts too long. Perhaps a better shot wasn't ready, but that's what the wide shot is always for. Speaking as someone who works in TV, I got the impression the director calling the shots was second-guessing himself all night with all the action. The last few PPVs have been really good for not missing the action. Oh well.

That said, there were some pretty cool shots with the cameras being in the right place at the right time so that it looked like certain wrestlers were going to fly through my TV set. I literally jumped up in my seat at least four or five times that I recall. Ones like Jeff Hardy's leap of faith, Samoa Joe's running facewash kick on Ron Killings near the start of the gauntlet, Austin Aries being flung outside to the ground, etc. TNA's camera work is much more handheld and in-your-face than WWE's, where they don't cut to the shot, and they usually have plenty of time since WWE's action is a lot slower.

I agree. Vince receiving any kind of pay raise is hilarious, considering where the WWE is right now. That said, it's not like the talent and stockholders don't have any recourse.
