TNA Wrestling’s Saturday night debut on Spike TV drew a .8 rating, which translates to roughly 850,000 viewers. The show remained consistent in the ratings throughout the show, peaking in the final quarter-hour at a .82 for the segment involving Team 3-D, Kevin Nash, Jeff Jarrett, etc. The show drew a .7 audience among males 18 to 34 and 18 to 49. The strongest viewer demographic was between ages 25 to 34 at .9. The median viewer age was 35, which is slightly older than what WWE’s Monday Night Raw usually draws.
So..... is that good?
By the way, Storm's gimmick includes 1.) telling the audience to shut up, and 2.) occasionally making everyone stand for the Canadian national anthem. You know they don't know what to do with a wrestler when he's making fans stand for a national anthem. It's like waving a white flag and saying, "This guy has no personality -- we give up."
I would be really happy with that number, if I were TNA. I think a 1.0 or higher would be expecting a little too much. I, personally, thought they would do an 0.6 or 0.7, so I'm happy with the number.
Of course, the real test is to see the next 2 or 3 weeks of numbers. If it rises, then great. If it stays steady then that's fine. But, if it drops.... oh boy.
The answer to WWE's financial problems...
Never 'Wiener of the Day', and is actually quite bitter about it.
I think Spike's gonna have to get the word out more as to when it's on, but I think this is an OK start. Guttman said in his column that 2 Spike TV ads ran during Raw in the NY area. Not sure if they were for UFC or TNA, but it's a start.
Some people were waiting until the Monday night replay to watch it with the rest of wrestling/ufc night. Is it possible it gets a .2 on the replay for a 1.0 total?

PWInsider-via-411 is reporting that the replay got a 0.5.
That seems pretty good to me, although I don't really know what it means or anything.

It means a third of the regular Raw audience (in numbers anyway) watched the debut show, which is 4 or 5 times more viewers than they ever had watching them on FSN.
It also means they drew a higher number in the Saturday night timeslot than Velocity had in over a year, so I'm sure Spike will be happy with it.
The ratings over the next month and the buyrate for Bound for Glory will be the main factors in determining whether the show is a success or not.

So, is the .5 on the replay 500,000 unique viewers or viewers that watched the Saturday show and watched the replay on Monday? Or is it even possible to tell such a thing?

My thoughts: -RVD/Jericho: I know why there is such a big disagreement on whether this match rocked the house or blew monkey spank... cause both sides are right.
