Here's an interesting article I googled up on the differences between hyphens, em dashes, and en dashes.

In the real world, WWE believes that no matter what our race, religious creed or ethnic background in America, we all share the common bond of being Americans. American-Arabs are a part of the fabric of America, and they should be embraced by all of us.

You cant just sit back & watch one of your employees go nuts about what planet he's from & how he feels the power of the Warriors running through his veins, etc, but never do anything about it while you have the chance, you know?

I haven't gotten to watch the DVD yet, but the impression I formed from the trailer is that nobody in the WWF liked Warrior's schtick, but it was too successful to drop. As much as Vince and company may have hated everything about Warrior, they stood to lose a lot of money if they tampered with his gimmick--or even worse, if they fired him and let WCW have him when he was hot. So when Vince says "I couldn't wait to fire him," I take that to mean "I couldn't wait for him to become more of a liability than an asset, so that I could justify firing him."

He does bring up a good point in regards to Jim Ross that actually got me thinking as I watched the dvd last night: Ross does seem to have a lot of very strong opinions about Warrior...for a man who was barely ever in the company at the same time. Other that the very brief 1996 run I can't think of a time they would have been around each other...

The other thing that really struck me was that this dvd seemed like WWE's attempt at a "I love the 80's" or "Best Week Ever" type production with lots of talking heads cracking wise.

Now that I think about it, in the beginning of the DVD when they are going through the different companies Warrior worked for before WWF, I think I remember JR referring to one of those companies as "we" or "us", as in "He came to work for 'us' for a while, then he went to work for so-and-so". I took that to mean that JR worked for one of those territories that Warrior passed through early in his career.

If not, then it's pretty dumb for JR to talk about who Warrior is as a person like he knows him.

They had a Warrior impersonator on Byte This tonight. He screamed and such. He then read the statement Warrior wrote (well, part of it). Grisham mentioned that he is not, in fact, "queer". They then got Droz on the phone to comment on Warrior calling him a cripple. Droz called him the Anabolic Warrior and mentioned that he looked forward to seeing the DVD. The Warrior impersonator made several jokes about taking steroids. He then was revealed to actually be Matt Striker (so expect a 400 page essay by Warrior on the integrity of a school teacher skipping work to wrestle soon). He clipped the microphone to his nipple, and that was it.

What a weird show.

You would be correct. Jim Ross and Warrior were both employed by the greatest wrestling promotion ever. Maybe Blinky dislikes Warrior because he's made a few negative statements about JR's old pal Sting?

I am honestly starting to think the Ultimate Warrior is gay.

I'm serious. Is there one commentary he makes on his website where he doesn't take a shot at homosexuals? Every time I hear about a new rant, he usually accuses someone of being gay, and mostly, they're not when he does. He can't go five minutes without calling someone queer or limp-wristed, or saying they get done in the bum. His only analogy for all manner of character flaw is some kind of homoerotic similie. I've never met a "real man" so pre-occupied with homosexuality. As for mocking Droz for being in a wheelchair, and making light of the situation in New Orleans, that's vintage Warrior. If Warrior had been crippled, you see, his WILL would have cured his disability by now. And mother nature is too afraid of him to flood Arizona. Everything bad that happens to people happens because they let it, and are inferior to him.

Does he make good points? Yes, but they will be overlooked and rightly ought to be overlooked when her mars them by making utterly retarded statements in the same essay.

And he's not legendary. This is key. He's not unforgettable. He had one good run, and a few non-starts where he never really got his shit together. He bombed as WWF Champion. They went crawling back to Hogan. When was the big spike in business? Where is his place among the all time top draws, of which he doesn't crack the top ten? Where are all the big stadium shows he drew? I count one, against Hogan, who could have drawn that against anyone in 1990. Summerslam '92 was clearly drawn by Davey Boy. That's it. Goldberg was a bigger star than Warrior, when did Warrior go on the tonight show? The entire depth of his impact is a thousand times less significant than he claims it is. That makes him less credible.

Just not less credible than Vince McMahon.

But if they're going to bury someone, it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Now that I read the whole thing through I have to say that he's not as nutty as I used to think he was. Sure he goes off the really, really deep end at times, but a lot of the points in there actually raise a few good questions.

I found this rant to be especially funny. He can be pretty witty at times.

Hogan's My Dad hit the nail on the head. The man is not a legend, he's pretty damn far from it. The ironic part is, and I'm no fan of Vince McMahon, the Ultimate Warrior would be scrubbing gymnasium floors right now if it weren't for Vince McMahon. He had the body, he had the charisma, and Vince McMahon is the only person on earth who could milk that body and charisma to make up for bottomless pit of everything else that is named the Ultimate Warrior. Can anyone argue that NWA/WCW would come anywhere close to what Vince did with him?

Here is a guy history will forget. Hogan can come back time and time again and get a ten minute ovation, I imagine Bret Hart would get the same response. I see no one drooling in anticipation over the return the Warrior. Frankly, no one gives a shit. Name his contributions to the wrestling biz? A 9 month world title reign, which basically came to be so Hogan could take off and make Suburban Commando? That's the extent of it.

He does have an impressive way with words, which might be considered dangerous. A proper analogy would be a 5 year old with a gun. Despite his high level of diction, he is still a moron. Calling people fags, cripples and ridiculing cancer patients, not admirable at all, not in my book at least.

Two questions:

#1. What does Warrior actually do for a living these days ? I find it hard to believe that he makes his living by traveling the United States doing paid lectures. Who would actually pay money to listen what this nut-job had to say....especially after that lecture he did that made headlines awhile back.

#2. Is there anyone in the wrestling community (past or present) that the Warrior actually likes and will say something positive about that person ?

1. Depending on the circuit, there is money to be made lecturing.

2. I don't know... Renegade, maybe?

I wouldn't go that far. I'd say Warrior is a legend. Guy hasn't done anything related to wrestling in almost 10 years and he has a DVD out.

Clouding the fictional accomplishments of the Ultimate Warrior character with real life circumstances doesn't do anything to diminish the accomplisment, either. Wrestling is a fake sport. A TV show. A work. Legends in wrestling are defined by what Vince McMahon "allowed" them to do and whether or not the talent was memorable. Legends in pro-werstling are defined by their fake accomplishments, and Warrior has those.

You say people will forget the Warrior, but this DVD proves that time obviously hasn't come yet. I mean, technically, history will forget everyone after enough time, but where's that Dino Bravo DVD?

How many people in this business have had a moment like WrestleMania VI or ending the Honky Tonk Man's IC Title reign? There's virtually no one in wrestling who can say that they stood over Hogan for one night during the peak of his popularity. That alone is enough to seal the deal and make someone unforgettable. Let alone his spaced-out promos.

I'm not even going into the crass nature of who WARRIOR is as a person. He's definitely not a guy with a lot of class, but what defines his "legendary" status is what his character did on TV.

I totally agree with this. I never even liked Warrior (I was a Hogan mark when I was little and until he feuded with UT always wanted him to win his matches, especially against UW), but he will always be remembered for the impact he had and his great (especially with Savage) and crazy feuds. That people still care and are interested today is testament to his legacy. Sure, it helps that he's a stark raving lunatic, but that just the epilogue to his relatively brief but very notable career.

I find his whole response quite ridiculous, but the part that irked me most for some reason was his knock on Triple H.

Sure, it's popular to rip on the guy, but calling him "the biggest unprofessional asshole the business has ever seen"? Huh? Where is he getting this from? "Unpopular" "Self-promoter" "Jerk", fine. But unprofessional?

Without angering the anti-HHH contingent too much, here's a guy who sells for almost all of his opponents, be they Benjamin, Batista or Eugene. Mark my words, Warrior would have never made Eugene look like a threat. Do they all get a win over HHH? Not at all. Yet when its the right thing for business, he's dropped the belt to Goldberg, dropped the belt to Benoit, dropped the belt to Batista.

Look, I'm not arguing over whether HHH is looking out mostly for himself; we know the answer to that. I'm saying that he's never injured anyone, never held the company hostage for more money, never walked out over a dispute, and never no-sold someone's finisher. That makes HHH much more of a professional in my book that Warrior could ever hope to be.
