For me it was Cub and Boy Scouts plus Church Youth group. My daughter is very involved in 4-H, UMY at church, and a horse association. I got alot out of Scouts and our daughter has really gotten a geat deal out of hers.

I was in the Cub scouts. They booted me out of the Boy scouts when I told my scout master what was the stupidest thing I ever heard.

We were at the National Cathedral and I overheard how Jesus was three people. Well, when I voiced loudly how that didn't make ANY sense, well...he was not happy.

I was in Weblos for a year. That's kind of between cub and boy scouts. I hated it. Screw knots.

I was in Demolay - kind of military and fun

I was in the Sons of the American Legion. I was northern Vice Commander of Indiana one year. That was fun. Plus, I got to do something while my parents ran around.

Then I went in the Army and grew all up

Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, made it to Eagle. Proud of that accomplishment, ashamed that they choose to discriminate. That's it, really.

I made it through Cub Scouts and did one year of Boy Scouts. Cub Scouts was kind of cool (Pinewood Derby time was always fun) but I lost interest quickly in the 7th grade.

I'm right there with you. Loved Cub Scouts, couldn't stand Boy Scouts.

I was in the PR Club in high school. By the time I left, we had the worst bio in the school handbook.

"The PR Club broadcasts MHS This Week every Friday night at 8 on channel 30."

By the time I left high school, we had changed our name, cancelled MHS This Week, gotten our own channel, and the city's channel moved from 30 to 8. Tell that to the handbook.

Then he got his ass beaten in New England again. Every year he's the top MVP candidate. Every year he's supposed to be the best. Every year he's going to carry the Colts to the Super Bowl. And every single year he goes to New England and gets his ass beaten. And his brother's a whiny little bitch." -A friend of mine, on Peyton Manning

Hashomer Hatzair! That's a lefty Jew group. Socialist Zionist scouting stuff.

There used to be a place called RAX, it was like ARBYS. They had a Smurfs fan club thing where you signed up, paid a WHOPPING $19.99 a year and you got a poster, a monthly magazine, and official membership certificate signed by Papa Smurf declaring you the #101st smurf because at the time, there were only 100 of them.

After you joined, you got tons of advertisments for 'special offers' like if you pay them an additional $4.99 a month, you get sent in the mail one small Smurf PVC figure. There wea supposed to have been 100 of them.

Yeah, I made my parents sign me up. I made them get me the crappy PVC figures. I was in that damn thing for over 4 years and I never did get all the figures. The son of a bitches sent a final letter saying that they were ending the club just shy of my #50th Smurf.

...I still have them all too!

Not only are there still Rax(es?-What is the plural of Rax?) I live within 10 minutes of two separate Raxes.

I was in Cub Scouts but set another boys scarf on fire with the candle you lit during the meeting. That ended my scouting career. I mostly played JFL Football and was the Academic Team through Junior High.

In high school I was again on the Academic Team (Quick Recall, Social Studies, and Future Problem Solving), Key Club, FBLA, but the one I got the most out of the was the TSA (http://www.tsaweb.org/) or Technology Students Association. I won a couple of awards that I am told still hang in Tech Ed (fancy word for 'shop') classroom for robotics, promotional media, and PC Repair/Troubleshooting. I actually earned my A+ Certification my senior year of high school through TSA. It's long out-of-date and no longer of any merit since the test has changed so much but it certainly helped me right after high school.

I was in Cub Scouts for a couple of months. Our Scout Master clearly favored his son and his son's friends. He also just kinda puttered around and we never actually DID anything.

I started my Pinewood Derby car, but I never got to finish it before I left out of frustration.

I was also in my church's youth group when I was in high school. That was far more fulfilling as far as building friendships went. Plus we had a reunion about 10 years or so ago where we all sat around and did Jaeger shots. I guess that's...something.

What, no Canadians here? I was in Beavers by the time I was six years old. Can't say it did me any good, though.

I did the Beavers/Cubs/Scouts thing when I was younger. I found my true calling as a part of the YM-YWCA's "Leaders" program. I taught swimming there for five years, and have many fond memories.

This is going to sound weird: Make sure to shower, groom, and dress nice every morning. Doesn't matter what you're doing, even if you plan on staying inside all day.
