Echoed here...but old computer problems prevent me from playing it.

So on an even older system, I'll give my love to "TIE Fighter." Destroy the Rebellion!

I haven't played any computer games since I started getting consoles with PS1. But before then I absolutely loved Might and Magic 4 & 5, independently known as the Clouds of Xeen and the Darkside of Xeen, and collectively known as the World of Xeen.

I remember getting home with the games and having to go through about 12 floppies for the total installation.

A couple years back I found the game in some old boxes and tried to find a copy that I could play on Windows XP, but I didn't get very far.

These days I only play Freecell and Beshaped, which is kinda like Bejeweled or Diamond Mine, but instead of just rows of colors, you have to make specific shapes.

I'm not a big computer gamer. The games I've played in the past 10 years were mostly point-and-click adventure/puzzle games like 7th Guest and Shivers.

But if we go back further, the pinnacle of my computer game playing was on my buddy's Amiga...the highlights were Might & Magic III, Wonderland (text-based), and my favorite, the Shadow Of The Beast franchise (the first two parts anyway) which makes you cry with its difficulty. Anybody remember those gems? Ten pints!

Now my current favorite: Serious Sam: The Second Encounter. After beating ENTER THE MATRIX, the terrible ending soured my opinion of the game.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Oregon Trail yet. I used to be an awesome buffalo hunter.

This is the only game I've played on the PC.

The wife was crazy about The Sims. We used to have little spats over who gets the computer. We even went as far as scheduling the usage of the computer. Both games capture all of your attention. Next thing you know its four hours later! Instead of attempting to cure our addiction we bought another computer! Hasbro, EA games and HP got a lot of our money during those years.

Empire Deluxe. I lost more hours to that than all the Sim-programs put together. And SimCity is probably my second favorite.

Anyone know if I can get a version of Empire Deluxe for the current machine here?

Commander Keen? Or maybe Jazz Jackrabbit.

Both from the golden age of PC platform games.

Tie Fighter was it for me growing up. Then Civilzation (the first one) was one that I played for years. A guy at work brought it in last year and we were all hooked on it again. My computer at the time could barely play them. I remember having to have a boot-disk to boot straight into the games because otherwise windows 3.11 would take up too much RAM.

I used to like The Sims, but lost interest after a couple expansion packs came out. Roller Coaster Tycoon and Warcraft 3 have me coming back every few months to play for until I'm sick of them.

Damn my girlfriends' brother for introducing me to NETHACK...and damn my girlfriend for showing me how fun it can be. What a difficult, annoying game that can be, but what fun it can be, too.

I haven't played a PC game in so long, but a few of my favorites have been :

NHL 2003
Tyrian
Pro Pinball : The Web
Fox Ranger (old Korean side-scroll space shooter)
Shogo : Mobile Armor Division
Urban Chaos
rRootage
The Longest Journey
Death Rally
and, maybe a bit Shamefully, considering the kind of person I am now, Cobra Mission and Knights of Xentar (Dragon Knight 3)...

Older PC games were so much more fun than newer ones.

Those were the days.

I loved Tie Fighter, Syndicate, Doom II and NHL 95. NHL was probably my favorite of all. For recent PC games, KOTOR and Call of Duty were awesome.

Something from the Worms series. Probably Worms 2. The 3D ones are alright, but I still like the classic 2D format. Nothing beats the thrill of prodding an opponent off a hill into the water. And the super-weapons (Holy Hand Grenade, Concrete Donkey) were awesome as well.

X-E's co-Worst Poster of all time! JKyle.com says:

I second the Oregon Trail (still playable, still awesome) but I also wonder where the love for "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago?" and "The Incredible Machine" is.
