I just wonder what the person who is most responsible for presidential victory behind the scenes gets: a cushy cabinet post or the continent of Austrailia. :)

Yeah but Zod is no Howard the Duck, or for that matter Pogo.

The guy generally held the most responsible for the 00 elections is now US ambassador to Canada. (He was governor of one of the Southern swing states or something. Maybe it was the 00 primaries over McCain? Shows how much I was paying attention.)

(Or at least that is how they tried to sell him to Canadians. Does anyone do any research on this stuff? Do the words: Least likely to impress mean anything to anyone?)

Is this serious? I looked over the pages, and nothing says its a joke outside of the page being hosted by a gaming site.

See, when I first heard about it, I thought it was a joke. So when I saw this I went and looked up the site... now I'm not so sure.

All he has to do is threaten to stab someone in the face with a soldering iron and declare that the American Presidency "Needs more Cowbell" and he's got my vote.

David Wilkins (US Ambassador to Canada) was a SC state rep for 25 years including serving 9 years as speaker of the state House of Representatives. He was also the chairman of the South Carolina Committee To Re-Elect in 2004 as well the co-chair of the SC Bush For President campaign in 2000.

Now, the rest of it is educated guessing. Considering the results for the GenElect in 2000 was a pretty handy victory for Bush (Bush 57%, Gore 41%), and even moreso in 2004 (Bush 58%, Kerry 41%) all it leaves for something to be considered a thank-you was the 2000 primary in South Carolina where McCain had just beaten Bush in New Hapshire and was limping badly into South Carolina. Forgetting for a second a few possible bits of possible chicanery that may have took place, the bottom line is that Bush won the primary, allowing him to cruise to the nomination and subsequently 8 years in the White House.

So in the end, it's totally possible that the ambassadorship was his reward, which isn't all that uncommon among Democrats and Republicans alike.

I seem to recall that this is more of a "fan tribute" site than a serious political bid. He knows about it, and thinks it's pretty funny, but isn't seriously running for office.

Now, I don't exactly remember where I heard that, but I believe it was an interview with Jimmy Kimmel or Conan O'Brien or someone of that ilk... but again, I don't exactly remember.

Edit: And here ya' go... Snopes: Walken for President

FEMA's top three leaders -- Director Michael D. Brown, Chief of Staff Patrick J. Rhode and Deputy Chief of Staff Brooks D. Altshuler -- arrived with ties to President Bush's 2000 campaign or to the White House advance operation, according to the agency.

Scorching criticism has been aimed at FEMA, and it starts at the top with Brown, who has admitted to errors in responding to Hurricane Katrina and the flooding in New Orleans. The Oklahoma native, 50, was hired to the agency after a rocky tenure as commissioner of a horse sporting group by former FEMA director Joe M. Allbaugh, the 2000 Bush campaign manager and a college friend of Brown's.

Hopefully they'll go back to handing out ambassadorships in '08.

Y'know, I'd vote for Christopher Walken over who we currently have. And for that matter, the way we're headed, we might as well vote for General Zod.

In all seriousness, though, the moment Barack Obama announces he's going to campaign for president is the moment I volunteer to join his campaign in some way, shape or form. Can't think of any other current possibility I could say that about. (Except Walken. )

I feel that way for John McCain. And I hardly ever vote Republican.

If McCain had dropped from his party and ran as an Independant I would've voted for him.

Same with Dean.

But it turns out both guys are just politicians - more interested in keeping what they've got and staying in the game than putting it all on the line to take the country.

Nobody has mentioned that Zod already HAS experience ruling the world (except Australia). He's even got Oval Office time.

I'd rather kneel before Zod than bend over before Bush.

"Kneel before ZOD!" is a damn catchy campaign slogan.

Lends itself well to buttons, signs, posters, and t-shirts. It also appeals to nerds, jackbooted facists, and people who go to BDSM clubs, the oft ignored, yet sizable voting blocs.

First, the schedule has been all crazy, so I decided to make a grid to help myself remember what new programming is airing. Perhaps you'll find it useful too. The date is when the next new episode airs, and how many new episodes are left. MON8:008:309:
