X-E's co-Worst Poster of all time! JKyle.com says:

Seriously, spoilers.

Since it airs tonight, I don't think this is too early.

There will be no spoiler tags, as evidenced by the large SPOILERS in the title.

As one of the thousands of Hawaiians who sat in the rain for three hours or more to see the premiere (I was the one huddled against the railing to the VIP section-no, really- after showing up nearly last and persevering where my other Lost fans failed in being able to stand the crowd [and they said I learned no valuable skills from Star Wars]) I got to see the new episode of Lost close to a week ago.

What Works:

Hurley calling Jack on his crap

Kate teasing that sees Locke's way of thinking as viable

Locke KNOWING that's what she's thinking (or wants Jack to think... con woman, remember?)

The end ties into the beginning

Matthew Fox's wig. And his flashback scenes.

Walt. Or his visage. Someone on the raft didn't make it, and I knew I had to wait TWO weeks to find out who it is. I'm eight days away and I STILL don't know. No clues as to who it was based on attendance, because all the rafters were there watching along with us.

What Doesn't:

It's not that big a twist. The jogger has a VERY recognizable accent, so the thousands of "GASPS!" around me had me rolling my eyes. I wished they'd moved his appearance WAAAAAAAAAY back.

What Else:

If you thought this season was going to get off to a running start, you're going to bitch about this episode. The crescendo started at the finale FAAAAAAAAADES and does not end in a crash.

The More You Know:

Maggie Grace glows like an angel. The men were just struck speechless.
Guy: You're even prettier in person!
Maggie: It must be the make up (Smiles even wider)
Me: (Virtually melted inside) Good make up. (other around me laugh)
Other Guy: (to annoyed looking girlfriend) Did you get a good picture?
As if he didn't have a flawless mental one.

Josh Holloway must've not felt like mingling, he waved and sat down without getting near the rail.

Michelle Rodriguez and the guy with the 90 syllable name (other new cast member) walked the parts of the rail FAAAR away from me.

Harold Perrineau signs EVERYTHING within reach. He went along most of the safety rail.

Ditto for Matthew Fox, but with less chitchat and more handshakes.

Yes Zed, I got within 4 feet of Fox without mentioning Haunted.

But I wanted to ask about DVD releases...

What I did do was relay the request of the guy behind me to see the tattoo, repeat that at Fox's request, and get a pretty good laugh from Fox and my area when I asked the guy if he thought that he could see the monster if he looked at the tattoos picture under a black light.

Daniel Day Kim didn't get a lot of the rail, but the parts he did he stayed and talked for a few minutes every few feet. Very cool. Busted some Korean out for a chat with a tourist who looked about to faint.

Dominic Monoghan is the NICEST HUMAN BEING ON EARTH. Apparently. He hit the ENTIRE rail, giving handshakes to all the guys and a combination of a kiss, a hug, or a photo op to all the girls.

In the first three rows.

The guy leaned over the first two rows grabbed a girl's camera, and gave to a first row girl so she could take a picture. The huge screen caught several of his moments mugging with fans in front of a camera.

He also had to be called back to his seat so they could start the episode.

It may sound like I'm gushing but you didn't see those baby blues up close... I mean, it's really awesome to see someone not completely miserable about being rich and famous.

Only regret is no Yunjin Kim, Terry O'Quinn, Yunjin Kim, Jorge Garcia, Yunjin Kim, or Yunjin Kim.

I thought the man in the bunker would be Rousseau's kid. Of course, it somehow might still be I suppose.

Walt's appeareance - very creepy.

Wait a minute... "the Depths of Hell" is Hawaii? I don't even want to know what that makes Pittsburgh...

So whomever had "an old aquintance of Jack's listening to horrible music" in the "What's In The Hatch?" pool, feel free to collect your $25. (I really wish they hadn't given him that "see you in another life" line in the flashback - he certainly was going to be important, but before he said that it was possible he'd play a role in the next Jack episode. Once they threw that little bit of foreshadowing out there, there was no doubt in my mind.)

Oh and I'm not entirely sure exactly how long ago Jack's flashbacks were supposed to be taking place, but there was never a time period where there was any kind of excuse for that hair.

I'm of the belief that Alex Rousseau is the woman who blew up the raft in the season finale. I'm nearly positive it's a woman, at the very least - Danielle has always "played the pronoun game", and referred to him/her only as "my child".

Wait, did I miss something? Was there news somewhere that someone on the raft didn't make it?

It was a decent twist, I thought. I got a sneaking suspicion that it was going to be him, but it wasn't due to the accent. As soon the stadium scene ended and he said to Jack, "See you in another life," I realized that his hair and his torso looked very similar to the guy in the hatch in the first scene. Nonetheless, I was still shocked it was him.

The appearance of "Walt" made my blood run cold, man.

Seriously, this is the best show not named "24" on TV, and I bitterly jealous of AngryJohnny.

I live in Hawaii... I come from elsewhere.

I'm just thinking someone on the raft died b/c of the 3 newbies.

Probably not Sawyer.

Probably Michael, as it would continue the streak of luck life has handed him.

I'd rather not know, but is it a confirmed spoiler that someone on the raft dies, or is it just that we think one of them is going to die? I rather like everyone on the raft... Although given that he's been in the commercials, I would think Sawyer is a safe bet to survive.

Crazy episode. I wonder what it means that Kate disappeared into the ground with the white light, much like the black smoke tried to grab Locke and pull him in.

That Desmond guy is insane. That has to be the same guy that Jack met at the stadium, right? It can't be like a twin brother, or a guy that looks like him? They so telegraphed that it would be him in the hatch (though I admit at the beginning I thought it was a flashback for a new survivor. They got me there...)

Next week can't come soon enough. I got spoiled watching the episodes weekly over the summer.

For what it's worth:

The OnDemand Guide for next week says something about the raft survivors encountering "a new predator" in the ocean, and it lists Michael, Sawyer and Jin by name. I do think there's a decent chance they don't all make it back to the island - though I think Jin's the most expendable, especially since he made peace with Sun - but as of now, they're most likely all alive.

I saw a piece one of those entertainment shows did (Extra, I think) before the season premiere, and Harold said he survived. I'd be surprised if they killed off anyone in such an anti-climactic fashion, although I suppose Jin is somewhat expendable after resolving his issues with Sun.

I'm pretty sure the producers confirmed someone on the raft will die. I highly doubt it'll be Sawyer, since Michelle Rodriguez is touted as adding a 4th leg to the Kate/Jack/Sawyer love triangle. Plus, Sawyer is too damn cool to kill off. Out of Michael or Jin, I'd put money on Jin.

Notice the hatch said "quarantine" on the *INSIDE*? Meaning everything outside of that (i.e. outside on the island) was off-limits. How long has the facility been there? Before Rousseau's group arrived? Those computers were pretty dated. And what was it used for?

Also, the facility has some kind of magnetic field generator (notice Jack's key stand up?). We also got a hint of that w/ the screwed up compass in season 1. So far, we know about: Rousseau's group landing there, the drug runner plane crashing, and flight 815. Are/were all these people brought there on purpose (by way of messing w/ compasses/navigation equipment)? Why?

I don't know how plausible this theory is but the magnetic field is powerful enough that it screwed up the plane's controls and caused it to crash? I'm pretty sure they want to keep the dueling ideas of Jack's Science vs Locke's Faith. They made sure to do that with Shannon seeing Walt. Sayid was clear to point out that she hadn't slept or eaten in a long time so the "science" side can play it off as a hallucination of Walt because she was guilty about losing the dog.

I was really worried that whatever was in the Hatch could make or break the show. Based on last night, Season 2 is going to be as good as Season 1.

I can see the field leading the plane off course (something the pilot said before the monster got him), but not making the plane split in mid-air.

Could it be because the size of the plane, because the drug runner plane was a small plane while 815 was a big commercial airliner.

Anyway I thought it was great and I kind saw Desmond as the bunker guy coming though.

Oh and Maggie Grace is an angel.

I'm sure (hah!) we'll get answers, but the hatch looked pretty well stocked, with clean running water, full cupboards, and plenty of Mama Cass records, as well as electricity. I'm wondering if hatch boy is stocked regularly by somebody (the others?).

I thought I read that somebody was going to die, but nobody specified if it was a raft person or just a regular cast member. Rumor sites months ago said that somebody felt underpaid and underappreciated and he/she shouldn't expect to survive more than a few episodes.

Jin made nice with Sun, but they haven't told each other the FULL TRUTH about their actions before coming to the island.

So I don't think they're at peace at all.

Also sad that if Michael or Jin dies so does their races' representative on the show. In Jin's case, on tv entirely, as far as I know.

I hope everyone on the raft survived. Sawyer is my favorite, and Jin is my sister's favorite it seems. I'm not that crazy about Michael, but he should probably be around to help get Walt back. If anyone on the cast dies this season I hope it's Shannon, Maggie Grace is hot i'll give her that, but she's easily the weak link on the show acting wise.

According to the official ABC.com preview for next week's show, the three survived:

Next Episode:
Wednesday, Sept. 28, 9/8c
"Adrift"
With the abduction of Walt fresh on their minds and their raft destroyed, Michael, Sawyer and Jin fight for their lives and discover a new predator in the roiling ocean. Meanwhile on land, Locke must descend into the hatch when one castaway goes missing inside.

Subplots usually move from episode to episode like this after the previews are written. The episode recaps even include scenes that didn't air.

Here's what Walt said to Shannon. The dialogue was spoken backwards, so you have to reverse it to make out what he said.

"Don't press the button. The button's bad."

You have to listen closely. The audio reverses right after Shannon's name is yelled, so that's where you want to start listening.
