That was dumb.

This is only Jarrett's fourth title reign. What's the big deal, it's not like he beat YOU for the title. I remember calling this about two months ago and I'm kinda glad I was right.

Sure, I've enjoyed Raven with the title, but he's really not fit to carry a company trying to get national exposure. When you're putting your weekly show on the Internet for free and not charging a gate fee for your shows; yeah, Raven's a good choice. On the other hand, when you're just starting out on a network and you want to get as many people as possible to watch your show, you're gonna want some one with more name recognition... and that isn't Raven, sadly.

It does indeed suck that they did this at a house show in CANADA, of all places (NO OFFENSE!), but with it already planned that the next two shows are 'Best Of...' shows, they didn't have much of a choice in the matter getting the belt off Raven any other way.

Jeff Jarrett IS the only viable person they have (right now) to put the title belt on. As wrestling shows go, you watch more to see the heel lose the belt then you do for the heel to win the belt. Jarrett is the top heel in the company and you're gonna watch to see him drop it to whoever they decide should get it.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to find out A.J. Styles dropped the title to Raven knowing he'd get it back from Jarrett once they get on SpikeTV. Styles has that 'all American boy' look that makes the average Joe want to cheer him on, I think, and this is probably what SpikeTV wants, initially, for the first month or two.

Anyways, I just so happen to LIKE Jeff Jarrett, so I don't mind this at all.

I'm not much of a Jarrett fan but I don't think this is so bad for several reasons. First, Russo isn't booking. Second, Jarrett isn't booking. Third, Jarrett doesn't have nearly the stroke that he used to have.

This looks to setup Raven bringing in Bubba & D-Von on the first Spike TV show to get revenge on Jarrett and AMW. Jarrett is also probably going to be a transitional champion to someone like Monty Brown. I like Raven but he doesn't really need to be the champion if he's going to be a face. Based on Unbreakable, it will be Monty Brown taking the title off Jarrett.

As long as they keep pushing the X-Division as hard as they have been in the past few months, I'll be willing to give the Jarrett stuff a chance.

Also, doing the title switch in Ontario may also be a good marketing strategy if they plan on doing TNA house shows. It also creates the illusion that TNA is bigger than it really is.

I had a feeling they might be headed in that direction when AJ won the belt at the PPV.

It's almost like hitting a reset button on a video game. It happened before they debuted on FSN with AJ on top the X Division and Jarrett the World Champion with AMW as Tag Team champions. The only thing that hasn't changed is the tag team belts so far.

And with the trigger pulled on the AMW heel turn, their first program on Spike is bound to be a feud with the Naturals, so...

Well lets be realisic about the titles, someone tells them who is to get them. it's all in the script whether it be the network or the company writers or owner. What surely you don't think that HHH kept the title for so long because no one can legetimatly beat him?

Also remember that the network airing TNT might be paying for groceries for the wrestlers families.... Sometimes ya gotta go with the program.

So is the implication that Jeff is in any way fit to carry a company trying to get national exposure? Or that anyone is going to tune into a show to see Jeff Jarrett's act? 'cause come on. And saying that Jeff is the most viable option of their guys with name recognition is like me saying that my tallest midget will do a good job centering our basketball team.

While it remains to be seen whether Jarrett will be doing his godawful King of the Mountain schtick all over their television as the center of the universe, there's no denying that they would be DOA if that turns out to be the case. As far as Jeff being the only choice, I don't think that "television exposure as an upper midcarder on WWF and WCW TV at the end of last century" carries all that much in the way of a starpower. A compelling new face, be it Samoa Joe because he's a badass or A.J. for his unmatched athleticism, would be preferable to someone with the negligible-or-worse allure of the Chosen One, about whom there's nothing I would want to associate my hot new alternative promotion with.

But again, it remains to be seen what kind of role he's going to play as the title-holder. While there's the philosophy that there's money in the face chasing the heel, there's also the reality that there's zero money in a company built around an unover goof shoving himself down everyone's throat.

Well that was never an issue. The guy who walks out when he doesn't want to lose the title match, after all, is ... Jeff. He's also the guy who only dropped the belt after being KO'd by a UFC fighter. Just something to keep in mind about the feeling that they need Jarrett as heel champion in order to properly put over their next big star.

(And believe me, I find "Jeff Jarrett is a right shitty centerpiece" arguments to be as boring as anything there is to discuss in wrestling, but I didn't know that there were still people who thought him as champ was a totally awesome idea.)

Or, at worst, move the belt on the PPV this past weekend to help justify to the people spending money on PPV that it is worth buying the PPV's.

I guess they didn't want to ruin everyone mood's before the X match, or sully the reviews of the PPV, like "****3/4 main event, minus *3/4 for Jarrett taking the title in the previous match."

If anyone has seen the UPW Documentary, this incarnation of Heidenreich is not all that far off from the real version of Heidenreich. I hope Heidenreich gets a good partner or else this feud could totally derail MNM's momenteum.
