(Cause I can't do one without the other...)

This is NOT a joke... William Shatner will be 'singing' the theme to Star Trek at the Emmys this Sunday, as if you needed a reason to order UNFORGIVEN on PPV!

Speaking of the Emmys, a few have already been awarded. Danny Elfman won for his DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES theme music, EXTREME MAKEOVER won for Outstanding Reality Program, Amanda Plummer won for her overacting in a LAW & ORDER: SVU episode, and DEADWOOD won 5 for Costumes, Art Direction, Hair Styling, Make-Up, and Camera work. YEAH DEADWOOD!

Marc Singer gets a paycheck! V: The Second Generation comes to NBC late next year.

Sean Astin has joined the cast of 24 for this season. Also, this season takes place 18 months after last season and that's about all I can get about it. Anyone else heard or read anything?

Because you just can't live without it... SOUTH PARK has been renewed through the 2008 season.

What does a long lasting children's animated film series do when it runs out of roman numerals? It becomes a TV series! The Land Before Time is coming to us in the 2006-07 season, so you have to wait a year for it.

Hey, were YOU that ONE person who used to watch Biker Mice From Mars? Well, guess what, you can be the ONE person to watch it again, as it's coming back to TV next year!

Hmm... what else... OH YES! HBO's renewed ROME for a second season. This should make a few of you happy, I suppose.

Are you kidding? Tough break, Cena/Angle, the Shatner is getting my attention. Apparently, the Emmys will feature actors singing various classic TV theme songs throughout the whole show, which might be the biggest train wreck in TV history.

On the flip side, congrats to ABC for hiring Tim McGraw to tailor the lyrics to "I like it, I love it" for every halftime highlight show throughout the "Monday Night Football" season. Just last week, my buddy House and I were discussing Cosell's classic highlight narratives in the '70s, and how nobody had approached them since, and I told House, "Only one thing could ever come close, and I know it's a long shot, but what if ABC hired Tim McGraw to tailor the lyrics to 'I Like it, I Love It' for each week of NFL highlights throughout the season?" And wouldn't you know, it happened! See, dreams can come true. --- Bill Simmons, www.sportsguy.net

The Lonely Island troupe is joining SNL, with Jorma and Akiva writing and Andy being one of the players. That = me watching the show for the first time in a few years without a doubt. Best TV news I've heard in a long while.

The question is - Do I actually watch the Emmys, or do I just depend on the Internet having these available as video clips later that night?

Yep, and they is as follows:

Beyond
The rim of the star-light
My love
Is wand'ring in star-flight
I know
He'll find in star-clustered reaches
Love,
Strange love a star woman teaches.
I know
His journey ends never
His star trek
Will go on forever.
But tell him
While he wanders his starry sea
Remember, remember me.

My understanding of the performance is that Shatner will be speaking the lyrics as an opera singer does the heavy note lifting.

Stop. Enough already. If anyone does NOT watch this now, they are missing out on something that could rival Carl Lewis singing the National Anthem years ago.

I'm leaving work right now to go set my TiVo to record this. Holy crap.

Shatner, whatever, but Kristen Bell was great! I hope she *does* live forever. CSI's good-lookin' black guy Gary Dourdan also turned in a solid performance.

I voted for her performance, for what that's worth. Shatner was CREEPY the way he was staring at the opera singer during her performance.

I can't believe I voted for Emmy Idol. I think somewhere inside, a part of me died tonight...

Anyone catch this after "CSI" last night? It was supposed to be the "House" of the legal system, but I didn't really see it that way. It's almost like Woods is playing two characters- one at home, and one at work.
