I liked Flair busting out the phantom knee/elbow drops. That damned ring STILL won't sell for him. Keep working on it, Flair, you'll break it yet!

Those weren't phantom knee/elbow drops. Flair was clearly knee & elbow dropping various apples, as well as the microphone.

I actually think that it makes sense for Ross and the faces to call "Kerwin" Chavo and go on to point out that he is in fact Mexican, while heels like Bischoff, etc. play along with his gimmick. Maybe Ross has taken this upon himself as that would almost make too much sense for the WWE.

I think Murdoch is great, he has the Stan Hanson/Dick Murdoch going, which means he just has to brawl stiff and let Cade do the finesse stuff, like actual wrestling holds. I think it is great they are sending up unique looking guys now. OVW is filled with guys that look like Chris Masters wannabe's, all jacked up and no room for any real personality or ring psychology.

The top guys in OVW who have just been called up or are getting ready to be are. (in no order)
Ken Kennedy
Brent Albright
Cade/Murdoch
Johnny Jeter
Ken Doane

Sorry, I was really trying to get into Cade/Murdoch, but man-o-man what a horrible debut for Murdoch. Awful just isn't a strong enough word. Cade, on the other hand, looked good.

I really hope all goes well for Ken Doane. I've been friends with him for awhile now, and if his job is anything like another friend of mine, Tom Mateva's (Antonio), then it will be nothing short of a gross misuse of pure talent. Oh, this is WWE were talking about. Still cool to see friends on TV though.

And I agree, Ric Flair is the best thing on cable. I would have actually preferred watching 2 hours of him and Angle "woo-ing" each other then the crap we had to watch last night.

I'm far from a Heart Throbs mark, but I at least want to give a thumbs-up to Romeo for making a point of pulling down Venis's kneepad while working his knee over. Little things and all that.

I wasn't particularly inspired by Murdoch, but one match isn't enough to go on.

And Ashley looked bad last night, but she's got a ways to go before she hits Gayda levels of awful.

Just as a follow-up to the Master-Lock Challenge talk from before, from WWE.com:

"the rules of the Master Lock Challenge specify that the challenger must forcibly break the Master Lock in order to win"

First, I love how they pull these rules out of their ass whenever they need them and act as if it's something that we all should have known, but the bigger news is that since he's still undefeated, we can look forward to months of Master Lock Challenges to come!

Ehhh...the WWE is trying to elevate new talent...what's wrong with that? Do we want to see the same people on every show every time? If anyone can do anything with Masters it'll be Michaels. Masters is growing on me every week and I'm kinda interested in how the Unforgiven match is going to turn out.

Oh, btw, the line of the night for me was "Kerwin White is whiter than an IPod" by Lawler. First time the King has made me laugh out loud in years.

As for Masters, at this point, I am numb to him. I know he is going to get pushed and I know it is not his fault. Which one of us would turn this push down if given the chance? He is being asked by the WWE to be better than he is ON THE RUN. With some seasoning and a slower push, I do think he could be a serviceable heel and a mid level title holder. But the WWE is going to quickly ruin his career. Snitsky Part II.

As for the masterlock, I hate HBK, and I felt bad for him last night. A nut shot stops Carlito dead in his pasth but a nut shot to Masters doesn;t lead to a released hold? They should have had Shawn nut shot him and have Masters collapse. Then next week, Master come out and say Michaels could only break the hold illegally. Makes more sense. But then sense is something the WWE does not have.

I look forward to reading the recaps here (GO DEAN GO!) but will have to take a long break from actually viewing the WWE. Thank God for MNF!

I don't think they will notice.

In other news, I'm concerned by Murdoch's top-rope bulldog finisher, if that's indeed what he's going to be using regularly. When a wrestler's opponent always happens to be sitting on the top rope at some point in a match so that the guy can use his finisher, it looks really fake. More fake than wrestling normally looks. Ken Kennedy's move is the same problem... I hope this isn't a trend. I fear that new guys are coming up and, because every possible standing move has been done before, they feel the need to invent these new, contrived, ones.

I'm a bit confused....wasn't Murdoch the one sitting on the top rope, not the opponent? The opponent was in the ring, his back turned to Murdoch as Murdoch jumped and did the bulldog.....I thought.

I'm wondering if sentonBOMB even watched the match or just read the online reviews, because I don't see how anyone could get something so mixed up if they actually saw it.

I think the fact that Ken Kennedy's move is awesome balances out how contrived the situation has to be. It's the same deal with the 619, there's not much that looks faker than a guy suddenly getting to his knees and hanging over the middle rope. They should really start mixing up their finishers a bit, or at least have some clever reversals from people realising that the other guy is gonna hit the same move he does at the end of every match unless he counters.

Why the hell don't inanimate objects sell like they're supposed to. The apples did fine, but that damned mic should have been flopping around like a fish outta water.

And WHY the hell is Jim Ross telling us that he rarely wears underwear. We didn't need to know that. What is it with old people and freeballing these days.

Yeah I'm really sorry about this one... first time ever for me that I'm commenting on a match I didn't see. I got a phone call during the match and missed the finish.

My Mr. Kennedy point still stands, though. Same with, as someone pointed out, Rey Mysterio.

I think the 619 comparison is rather unfair as the drop toehold is an easy and sensible setup for it that's been used a number of times.

As for Kennedy....

KENNEDY...

I await him lifting someone and scaling the turnbuckle to pull the move off. It ought to look even more impressive.

As for Murdoch... I'd be more concerned he's gonna Rick Steiner someone jumping off and grabbing like that,
