I haven't seen a post for this, so, with one day left, I would like to hear your predictions for the Backlash PPV. Who do you think will win, and what advances will be made???
Here are the current matches on the card, according to wwfbacklash.com:
Bradshaw vs. Scott Hall
"The Next Big Thing" makes his in-ring debut
Brock Lesnar vs. Jeff Hardy
Tag Team Championship
Billy & Chuck vs. Al Snow & Maven
Women's Championship
Jazz vs. Trish Stratus
Intercontinental Championship
Rob Van Dam vs. Eddie Guerrero
Cruiserweight Championship
Kidman vs. Tajiri (with Torrie)
Edge vs. Kurt Angle
No. 1 Contenders Match
Special referee: Ric Flair
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Undertaker
Undisputed World Wrestling Federation Championship
Triple H vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan
Based on the discussions in a couple of threads, I think it's safe to say that Helmsley will retain the title, hopefully when Jericho costs Hogan the match.
As a result of the title match, I'm calling Undertaker over Austin to advance the Austin/Ric Flair angle
RVD over Eddie Guerrero, but done in some way to extend the feud another month
Scott Hall over Bradshaw
Chuck and Billy over Al Snow and Maven. Giving Maven the Hardcore title is one thing, but I don't see the fed putting tag team gold on Maven
Angle over Edge. I have no reason to back this up, it's just a gut feeling.
Brock over Jeff Hardy (Is anything picking Jeff?)
Jazz over Trish, possibly due to interference by Molly
Kidman over Tajiri
I'm fine, how are you? Elevator, I said Transport Room. I'm fine, how are you?
Bradshaw vs. Scott Hall -Scott Hall, thanks to interference by X-suck. Will probably be a big beatdown, as well, to prolong the feud(No Steiner, yet).
"The Next Big Thing" makes his in-ring debut Brock Lesnar vs. Jeff Hardy -Brock Lesnar, in a total annihilation of Jeff, which will mean no Hardy Boyz on tv for a while, much to the disappointment of squeeling fat chicks everywhere(http://www.geocities.com/fatchickswithhardyboyz/home.html).
Tag Team Championship Billy & Chuck vs. Al Snow & Maven -Chuck & Suck, thanks to Rico, even though they aren't really over or elevating the belts...
Women's Championship Jazz vs. Trish Stratus -Jazz, thanks to Molly Holly interfering.
Intercontinental Championship Rob Van Dam vs. Eddie Guerrero -Rob Van Dam, putting more fuel into this fire. Most likely best match of the night, and possibly a MOY candidate. Look for frog splashes by both, as well as a Van Daminator or two.
Cruiserweight Championship Kidman vs. Tajiri (with Torrie) -Kidman. Expecting the completion of the Tajiri heel turn, and Torrie may leave with Kidman, although she won't get physically involved (I hope).
Edge vs. Kurt Angle -Edge. Angle will get even more pissed, this should be a great match, if given the right amount of time. Oh, and lot's of "You Suck" chants (obvious).
No. 1 Contenders Match Special referee: Ric Flair Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Undertaker -Undertaker, even though this will most likely be VERY overbooked. I expect Flair to "accidently" cause Stone Cold to lose, resulting in a STUNNER STUNNER STUNNER...
Undisputed World Wrestling Federation Championship Triple H vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan -Hollywood Hulk Hogan, even though I'm going to hate it. Triple H will fully go heel, which is what he is best at. Expecting a BEAUTIFUL beatdown on Hogan, with the popular consensus of an nWo joining by HHH, even though he is supposed to be on Smackdown!...sounds like some recruiting will happen, and we'll see the nWo on both shows, which is one of the ideas that was being passed around before the split. (the nWo is Vince's pet project)
-Bradshaw vs. Scott Hall Bradshaw wins by DQ when X-Pac interferes, then Bradshaw fends off both members of the nWo to keep his heat, so JR can call him a real "Hoss" for months on end. I hope they keep this short.
-Brock Lesner vs. Jeff Hardy The Hardy Boyz are yesterday's news, and Brock Lesner has the buzz of being "The Next Big Thing" behind him, so Jeff Hardy is dead. Anything short of a total squash by Brock will be a disapointment to me. Shouldn't take more then 5 minutes for Brock to kill Jeff Hardy.
Tag-Team Titles -Billy & Chuck vs. Al Snow & Maven Billy & Chuck keep the belts. Still, the WWF needs to do something about the very stale tag-team titles, but putting them on Al Snow & Maven isn't it. Best keep the titles on the Ambigiously Gay Duo and rebuild the tag-team ranks. Hopefully this is kept short.
Women's Championship -Jazz vs. Trish Stratus Trish should of won last month, so she'll probably win here. Again I don't see this taking too long.
Intercontinental Title -Rob Van Dam vs. Eddie Guerrero As I said a few weeks ago, RVD is over without the title, Eddie will be even more hated with a nice long IC title reign to piss off the fans. Eddie wins here, after a match which hopefully goes at least 15 minutes. Could easily "steal" the show much like RVD/Jeff Hardy did at InVasion.
Cruiserweight Title -Kidman vs. Tajiri If they give this match at least 10 minutes, then we'll know the WWF is serious about pushing the cruisers. If not, we can here JR talk about the need for the WWF to get serious about a lightweight division for another three years in the Ross Report. Kidman retains, although they should put the title on the Hurricane who is more over than both Kidman & Tajiri very soon.
-Edge vs. Kurt Angle Edge has to win here so he doesn't look like he Billy Gunned the KOTR title. Besides Angle will still be hated win or lose. This should hopefully get some time, and should be a great match.
#1 Contender's Match -The Undertaker vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin (guest ref: Ric Flair) On the one hand, the WWF changed the WWF Title match at Backlash because of the tepid reaction for UT/HHH. On the other hand why waste a Austin/HHH or Austin/Hogan match at Judgment Day when you could save any of the two (esp. SCSA/Hogan) for KOTR or Summerslam. And if UT loses here, who does he feud with for the next month? So Undertaker wins thanks to some screw up by Ric Flair, leaving Austin to feud with Flair. The match itself should be okay/good, as Austin and UT have had good matches in the past.
WWF Undisputed Championship -Triple H vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan Hogan wins and Triple H turns heel as a result (since HHH doesn't work as a face), probably joining the nWo to try and even out the RAW and Smackdown rosters. Then you have Hogan/UT at Judgment Day, bringing up their past history from ten years ago (since they never did have a definitive end to that feud). Match will most likely suck unless HHH steps up his game back to his pre-injury levels.
Looking at the card, I don't know if I'll plunk the 35 bucks down to see it. However I did regret not buying Wrestlemania X-Eight, so It will be a "Game time decision" if I buy it or not.
Bradshaw vs. Scott Hall - Scott Hall. The NWo needs to keep what heat it has left. This could be a match where we see a new member of the NWO come to play.
Brock Lesnar vs. Jeff Hardy - Jeff Hardy will throw everything but the kitchen sink....and Brock will still be standing there, doing that shoulder neck thingy that haunts fan's nightmares. I'm already a huge Lesnar fan, and I've liked how he's been handled so far. Basiclly, I'm sayign Jeff Hardy will fight to the finish....and Brock will STILL beat him easily....
OR maybe one of the youngesters from the farm will come up and play a role in defeating Lesnar. That's Hardy's ONLY hope.
Tag Team Championship Billy & Chuck vs. Al Snow & Maven - Billy and Chuck. And they'll hold onto the belts untila REAL new team comes along.
Women's Championship Jazz vs. Trish Stratus - Jazz. Then we see Molly (~HOT), vs Trish.
Intercontinental Championship Rob Van Dam vs. Eddie Guerrero - RVD will put up a battle, but he'll lose, setting up his "Main Event Push".
Cruiserweight Championship Kidman vs. Tajiri (with Torrie) - Torrie costs Tajiri the match, sides with Kidman.
Edge vs. Kurt Angle - Edge needs the win. Edge wins with that funky submission he does nowadays.
"The ability to think does not make one intelligent".
European Title Match William Regal Vs. Spike Dudley Okay, here's how I'd play it: have Regal completely beat the snot out of Spike, cheating at every turn just because he can. Regal finishes Spike with THREE tiger drivers, And puts his feet on the ropes, then delivers another three tiger drivers after the bell. This could set up Flair trading Regal off to Vince (giving SD a secondary belt while in storylines getting rid of a complete asshole) in exchange for, say, Hugh Morrus and Lance Storm (two guys who could shine on the depleted RAW roster).
Women's Title Match Trish Vs. Jazz Trish, in a pretty entertaining five-minute match. This means she can move the belt into a feud with Molly and/or Ivory, the only real SD contender.
Brock Lesnar Vs. Jeff Hardy Pfft. Jeff's gonna be sucking his meals through a tube for the next three weeks.
Tag Team Title Match Billy & Chuck Vs. Al Snow/Maven Billy & Chuck are getting set for a "Stephanie McMahon Women's Title" kinda reign here, just sitting on the roster for a few months keeping the titles warm while the division is rebuilt. So, pretty obviously, they retain-thanks to Rico.
Scott Hall Vs. Bradshaw Hall after interference from X-Pac. Have 'em lay a good ol' fashioned nWo beatdown on Bradshaw, culminating in a spraypaint job and the hint that the nWo ain't done for the night.
Cruiserweight Title Match Tajiri should go complete ultra-dick heel here, spraying Torrie with the green mist and finishing Kidman off with the red. The cruiser division needs a strong heel at it's head, and with Tajiri already half-established he just pips Chavito to that position. Tajiri takes the belt back and move sinto a feud with the Hurricane after tying up the loose ends with Kidman.
Intercontinental Title Match Bold Prediction: This will steal the show and set van Dam up for a world title run sometime this year. RVD retains his title after fifteen minutes or so, but Eddie will level him afterwards. Then, for the next month, have Eddie help RVD retain the title in every match, stating that if he can't beat van Dam, then nobody can. Flair gets pissed at Guerrero's constant intereference and grants a rematch.
Edge Vs. Kurt Angle Neither of these guys are in a position to win or lose anything here, so I'd say that now is the time to sneak Edge a quiet main-event win, pretty cleanly. Edge wins after a low blow and the Edgecution.
No. One Contenders Match Eh. It should be okay, especially with Taker's recent fiery effort, but we've seen it all before. Flair adds some intrigue, though. Stone Cold wins and shares beers with Ric, but Stuns him on a whim after he runs outta cold ones.
Undisputed Title Match HHH Vs. HHH Jericho sits on commentary for the duration of the match, generally ragging on Hogan and applauding HHH. Then, after the obligatory ref bump, the nWo arrive for a li'l beatdown on Hogan-perhaps with HHH laying on the outside, the victim of a Hogan chairshot. Jericho sits on commentary througohut cheering on the beatdown. The nWo lay waste to Hogan and roll HHH back in the ring, who delivers a Pedigree for the one-two-three. Hall grabs the belt from ringside-and waffles HHH. Jericho, meanwhile, throws down his headset and fetches a bag from under the ring. It contains three cans of spraypaint...and an nWo tee. After spraying down both Hogan and Trips, Jericho poses with his new team-mates and the Undisputed title as the show goes off the air. Then, on Thursday, Jericho can announce that he's the nWo's "SmackDown representative", and he's starting recruiting for the nWo SmackDown branch real real soon.
Bradshaw vs. Scott Hall -HALL WINS... nWo has to win sometimes don't they. Personally I could care less
"The Next Big Thing" makes his in-ring debut Brock Lesnar vs. Jeff Hardy -LESNAR WINS...sure thing (err my last sure thing was WM Jazz losing), easy pridiction much pain for Jeffery.
Tag Team Championship Billy & Chuck vs. Al Snow & Maven -CHUNKABILLY WINS... ohh the tag division is brutal. I keep on asking why isn't Hurricane and Storm in this division??
Women's Championship Jazz vs. Trish Stratus -TRISH WINS... why didn't she win at WrestleMania in her hometown??? I'd like to see Trish on both shows(oh yeah by the way, I care about this match)
Intercontinental Championship Rob Van Dam vs. Eddie Guerrero -RVD WINS...I'm exsited about this match, should be match of the night. Don't like Eddie losing in his first PPV match back, but I doubt they will take the title away from RVD only a month after he won it.
Cruiserweight Championship Kidman vs. Tajiri (with Torrie) -KIDMAN WINS...Torrie will go with Kidman making them the 2nd most annoying couple (1st cheata and matt)
Edge vs. Kurt Angle -EDGE WINS...They keep on saying how important this match is for Edge, they just might give him the win
No. 1 Contenders Match Special referee: Ric Flair Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Undertaker -AUSTIN WINS.., by god Austin wins, pissing the Taker off even more.
Undisputed World Wrestling Federation Championship Triple H vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan -TRIPLE H WINS...Trips will go heel and nWo to beat Hogan, nWo looks and probabley is shit so Trips might help, and him as a face just sucks. Even though I really rather have Hogan on both shows then Hunter. I'll be cheering Hogan, brotherrr
Well, let's look at the results: chazworthington: 6-3 (messed up Cruiserweight, IC, and Undisputed title matches) Mixxer: 6-3 (messes up Cruiserweight, IC, and Edge/Angle match) Busyman14: 5-4 (messes up Bradshaw/Hall, Women's, Cruiserweight, Edge/Angle) El Nastio: 5-2 (did not pick Undisputed title or #1 contender match) (messed up on Cruiserweight & Edge/Angle) squiz: 5-4 (messed up on Women's, IC, Cruiserweight, Undisputed) oldschoolhero: 4-5 (messed up Women's, Edge/Angle, IC, #1 Contender, and Undisputed) Net Hack Slasher: 3-6 (got Bradshaw/Hall, Lesnar/Hardy, and Tag Team matches right) Downtown Bookie: 6-3 (messes up Tag Team, Cruiserweight, and Edge/Angle) me: either 6-3 or 5-4 (don't remember who I picked in the Edge/Angle match) (messed up Women's, IC, and Cruiserweight) Sawan (from rajahwwf.com): 5-4 (messed up Cruiserweight, IC, Women's, and Undisputed) cfgb (from slashwrestling.com): 6-3 (messed up Undisputed, IC, and Cruiserweight) Matt Spaulding (from slashwrestling.com): 5-4 (messed up Undisputed, Women's, Cruiserweight, IC) TNM (not sure who/what this is, exactly): 3-6 (got Lesnar/Hardy, Tag Team, and IC right)
So all-in-all, we suck. All of us. Anyone with a little luck could have gotten 5 out of 9, and the best people got 6 out of 9.

Interesting that practically every match missed by us were title matches(or not, since 5 matches were title matches) still I'd have thought there would have been a bit more spread between the missed matches, except for the Brock match, I guess we all know a push when we see it
Of particular note, the IC and Cruiserweight seem to be the ones missed most often. Wonder if there is anything to that?
Of course, since we have a sample size of 13, I guess we can't say anything too definite, other than we do suck
