No thread about this one yet, so I thought I'd start one off. I saw the movie a few days ago and I thought it was great. Really tense, moody stuff helped out both by the confines of the plane that 80 percent of the movie takes place in and the huge amount of extreme close-up shots. Right up there with the best Wes Craven has made.

Rachel McAdams is my newest celebrity crush (I will even hold my head high and say I DID watch The Notebook and she owned that movie, at least for me). She is extremely talented too, and likable. You really root for her when she gets pro-active. Cillian Murphy is just awesome here, adding to his turn as The Scarecrow in Batman Begins. The best part about his character is just how damn EASILY he slaps down Rachel McAdams' early attempts to outsmart him. "Secret notes written in someone's book? Talking on a dead AirFone? Message on the bathroom mirror? Please, are you fricken' serious?"

The only bad part was that the movie kinda took a slide once they got off the plane, and once they were in the house it was almost like a horror chase scene paint-by-numbers. It's totally forgiven though because of the great Hitchcock style suspense in the air and the rocking performances by McAdams and Murphy. Those two seriously make the movie. The sudden headbutt early on legitimately surprised me, and that damn pen in the neck was brutal!

It was Collateral on a plane with a script that wasn't as good and direction that wasn't as good and acting that wasn't as good.

Not a bad movie by any stretch, and definately better than Craven's last effort (Cursed), but definately not "great".

I didn't mean "great" like "Citizen Kane is great", but it was definitely one the most enjoyable movies I've seen this year. I had a blast watching it. I definitely see the Collateral comparison, and I'll give you script and direction but I gotta disagree about acting. Definitely some of the minor actors were nothing special and Brian Cox didn't really do much, but Cillian Murphy and Rachel McAdams could and in five years probably will be in that Tom Cruise/Jamie Foxx level. I'm sure as hell not saying either will come close to winning an award for this, and I don't think they should, but the talent is there. They were better than the script. Great actors can still be pulled down into the abyss of crap by other forces. Just look at Jamie Foxx himself in Stealth.

Little late to the party, but I just saw this last night. I was a little disappointed with it, actually. I did really like the scene where Murphy's character revealed his plans. But I didn't like how, unless I missed it, we were left wondering exactly who he worked for- some radical US organization? Another country?

And he also seemed to be one of the most clumsy "terrorists"- I can't count how many times he tripped over something. Why was McAdams' character trying time and time again to get someone to notice what was going on? All it would take would be one phone call for her dad to end up dead. Of course, you could argue that he wouldn't kill off her father without her making the call first, and she'd never do it if they killed him off. But what was to stop him from making the call after SHE did, just because of how she tried to get out of it so many times?

Finally- it needed more Brian Cox.

I did not get closure on the fist bumping storyline! Also, was the episode oddly broken up? It felt like the middle segment was 2 minutes long, and the tag at the end was much longer than usual. Just felt weird to me. "What comes after Tuesday?...
