Gas here in St. Cloud jumped from $2.51 this morning to $2.79 this afternoon, and my brother, who works for a small convenience chain in the Twin Cities, called an hour ago to tell me that their COST per gallon is going up at midnight tonight to $3.00/per gallon, so the prices will be around $3.20/gallon tomorrow. I just filled my truck and my fiancee's car up for just over $80.00 @ $2.53/gallon. I got lucky and found the last station in town NOT to jump their prices yet. Go fill up. Now.

Still 97.9 per litre at the Husky next to my house, but I'd imagine that Alberta's prices will be screwed up due to us having tons of oil.
Sorry, Zed. Didn't see that one. I'll use the search next time. This is my last post in this thread about this, but this just in: we have a local gas supplier that lets you buy gas bulk at a set price. They just upped their price of unleaded 15 minutes ago to $3.27/gallon.
Okay, you've sufficiently scared me to top off with three more gallons on the way home at the bargain price of $2.859 (for premium) at my local SuperAmerica. Congrats.
Hey, if it DOES go up sixty cents overnight, you can be sure that I'll be happy you posted ANYWHERE about this. I probably won't be the only one, either...
On the way to work, the convenience store I fill up at was $2.57.
I read JimBob's post and decide to stop on the way home and fill up at $2.67.
As I am paying they say they are going up again real soon.
I drive home, switch cars and drive the couple miles back to the convenience in the mini-van. The manager is switching the signs to $2.82 as I put $45 in at $2.67.
I fully expect it to be over $3.00 when I drive by again in the morning.
$2.95 - $2.99/gallon here, with word that it could go up another 40 cents tomorrow.
I'm SOOOO glad the wife decided to fill the van up 2 weeks ago, then park it in anticipation of Labor Day, we now have enough gas to get up north and back for the weekend.
Hopefully, we'll have enough left to wait for the post-Labor Day drop.
My dad called me from work and told me that he heard gas jumped up about thirty cents to around $3.00 a gallon in Detroit, and told me I should try and gas up before it goes up around us. I ended up filling up my tank for $26.00 at $2.63. When my dad got home, he filled up for $2.72. So prices are inching up here on the Michigan/Ohio border.
Sunday night, gas was $2.51 at the two stations closest to where I work...Monday morning, they had jumped to 2.71, and dropped back down to 2.56 by the middle of the day. This morning the same 2 station were selling gas at 2.66 a gallon. Then, on the way home, they had jumped another 10 cents, to 2.76 a gallon. One place in town had 2.99 a gallon...God only knows what it'll hit by the end of the day tomorrow.
I pass about 12 different gas stations on my way to work. The range for regular unleaded was between $2.53 and $2.99, though the average was about $2.65. I'm guessing that the 2 stations that were at the low end hadn't changed their signs yet. I should have topped off before I got into work now that I think about it.
From today's paper: "Tuesday's price for bulk prepaid gasoline at Feneis' First Fuel Banks set a record at $3.28 a gallon. He said wholesalers Tuesday announced one-day hikes of 35, 40 and 45 cents a gallon.
The article today explains that HOPEFULLY it's only a one-day jump, but even still, the prices are expected to settle around $3.00/gallon. SUNOFA..............
