Brock Peters, best known for his role as Tom Robinson, the black man falsely convicted of raping a white woman in To Kill a Mockingbird, died yesterday, peacefully in bed, at 78.
I, being a Star Trek fan, will always better remember him for playing Admiral Cartwright in Star Trek IV and Star Trek VI, as well as Benjamin Sisko's father Joseph. I'll cry a small tear the next time I hear Joseph Sisko's line about dragging that alligator back up to the ceiling every night.
He definitely made an impression on a lot of people, and of course he was an important part of one of the most historically significant movies ever. He had a sincere quality to his performances, something that you can't teach.
Brock, you'll be missed! Thanks for the memories!

A distinctive man with a distinctive voice. He will be sorely missed.
We're the middle children of history...no purpose or place. We have no Great War, no Great Depression. Our great war, our defining crucible, is a spiritual war.
