Well, I don't see ekedolphin, so I guess I'll start it again. This was the kinda show you either really loved or really hated, I reckon - and I'm sure you'll be only too happy to let us know JUST which side you were on.

Neither. Thought it was good, but nothing to write home about. HBK continues to prove that he should have been heel a long time ago.

And I kinda dig Rob Conway's theme.

Actually, I think "Tatanka" means "beer gut". Wow, that was from out in left field.

I think anyone who's made fun of me for watching wrestling because "it's gay porn" has an example in the Val Venis-Rob Conway match.

The HBK montage/impression was thoroughly entertaining.

Matt Hardy was a little...intense.

Rob Conway has the best entrance music since X-Factor.

Bonus comment: No one else will probably back me up here, but the Show/Shelton v Masters/Snitsky match entertained ME.

HBK was definitely the only part of the night that had me purely entertained. The main event had its moments as well. Even though it's been the same match two weeks in a row, it really is refreshing to see new faces in the main event. New faces without very odd facial hair.

I applaud WWE for finally listening to the "Val is underrated" remarks and finally giving him some decent TV time...But c'mon. You can't just randomly insert two heat wrestlers and not expect "This match sucks" chants. Give Val some mic time first.

Tatanka vs. Animal in a beer-guzzling contest would be $$$.

Overall I really liked RAW. The only down-points were the Eugene Invitational (which didn't really seem to go over well), especially when fake Native American Who Practices Generalities and Further Spreads Misconceptions and Stereotypes Tatanka (...Buffalo) came out for his match. I was surprised the crowd was as receptive as it was, but I guess everyone in that arena has the same sick sense of humor that I would have to actually give the guy a pop in a live setting.

While I agree with Super Shane Spear that the Show/Benjamin vs. Masters/Snitsky match was entertaining, it seemed to me like they really weren't putting Shelton Benjamin over strong enough. It was one thing last week when he was booked in a handicap match against them, but c'mon. I'm hoping that the WWE didn't read too much into the crowd turning on Benjamin at Vengeance and Show's subsequent pops as of late, because I feel like that could be a mistake. The finish of the match itself confused me as well, as it didn't really seem to further the Show/Masters feud that I sensed they were going for (including during the match itself). And am I the only one who saw Big Show give Shelton a kiss on the top of his head in the ring after the match?

Rob Conway...man, what an awful gimmick. I didn't think the match was as bad as the crowd got onto them for, but when you got a slightly more suggestive Buff Bagwell wrestling a guy whose one-note joke of a gimmick expired five years ago and hasn't won a match in seemingly forever, you're bound to lose the crowd. I couldn't help but feel sorry for Conway after the match...what an awful, dreadful silence. I thought for a second that a ministry had done another purchase of an arena to convert into a church.

The HBK spoof of Hogan on Larry King was good...funny in a cocky heel sort of sense, then appropriately intense at the end (the superkick to the camera to end it was a nice touch). Only thing is that the crowd seemed to be kinda pulling for HBK during the promo, just like the last pseudo-shoot he did against Hogan. If WWE's purpose in this is to bury Hogan and solidify HBK's legacy, they're doing a good job of it. Regardless, I'm liking it.

Cena/Carlito/Jericho was great. Tremendous beatdown to end the show, and it's the first time in awhile that I'm really feeling that big match atmosphere involving the WWE title leading into a PPV.

Matt Hardy was...weird. Very weird. It was smart for them to have Vince give him the rub, but the promo was all sorts of odd at points. The "I hope you die in a car crash" had my mouth agape. And although it too was awkward, I enjoyed the last line of the promo: "Matt Hardy will not die!"

Matt Hardy IS Duncan McLeod.

Was that always Tatanka's theme? I just thought that was the honest a jesus theme thing from the old WWF Royal Rumble game on the SNES (I honestly don't remember always using Tatanka, usually Bret or Razor... or The Million Dollar Man).

It was quite nice how the crowd didn't just boo emphatically when Vince thanked himself, and thought it was rather nice of them to do that thing with Matt... I'm trying to figure out what kind of pissed it is that Matt sounded... sort of the mildly relaxed kind of a guy who will kill you in your sleep.

I dig Carlito like Jethro digs taters.

I would have laughed like a madman if after Shawn finished talking he said he needed to take a bath so he didn't look like a rancid piece of beef jerky (or something to that effect).

Rob Schneider had a boner. That was a bit... spotty.

And Lawler didn't make a village people comment to how Conway was dressed? Dag, yo.

I think I liked it more than I didn't like it.

Mark this down, WWE at last comes clean on the Matt, Edge and Lita story. Or should we say Matt, Adam and Amy !
When was the last time real names were so openly mentioned.

Not sure why they put the Rob Conway / Val Venis match on.
Something that would usually only get a Heat airing.

I feel the Con way is going the wrong way. He is starting to look a little Village People / George Michael !

Larry King was seen to sit-up too early after the Sweet Chin Music. Another Diva farce, but my cash is on Elizabeth, with Ashley second.

As soon as Native Americans were mentioned, I thought of only one possibility, and was right.

Wrestlers were saying The WWE. It's not, it's just WWE.
You would have to say The World Wrestling Entertainment, which does not scan.

You could have said The WWF, as The World Wrestling Federation sounds right. Just a pet hate of mine that !

quick hits:

1. the HBK Hogan parody was fun, but middling details are the topic of the day; if shawn was going to get super serious and cut the promo, he should have taken off the mustache.. because that looked creepy in every wrong way when he pulled off the skin cap.

2. Hardy/Vince deal was fun, because it looks like they are serious about both the Hardy character (is it a character? is it him being insane and real? whatever) in that Vince came out to announce the signing. But, the "hoping you die in a car crash" line kind of scratched the needle off the record.

3. the diva search.. now of course it is really pointless, but on the level is unintentional comedy and trainwreck entertaimnet it never fails to deliver...

the fact that you get a mix of attractive women whom fit into the "serious i do like wrestling" category, the "my agent got me this gig and i have no clue as to what this is" category and the "i just want money and i'll be in Playboy and then start my acting career/this is just a stepping stone" category makes it fun, just because you know in your heart that 3/4ths of these women just entered into something that they are in way over their heads at. it is almost as if it is a job these women applied for and didn't know what was involved with it; the mistaken falls, the uncomfortable moments when they have to do whatever task that is the challenge for the week, the frozen speeches, the uncomfortable smiles when they dance, the whole package. overall, it is great because it is clearly a situation in which the WWE sought out a fair amount of girls whom have no clue about the company in which they are trying to work for, and the girls recation and handling of that situation is both funny and entertaining.

and, if i were to pick, ashley would be the winner because she seems the most into it, and layla would be hired just as a manager/diva/on the payroll just for the tapes and the magazines girl.

HBK stole the show for the second week running. Nothing else even came close to touching the entertainment value of that segment. I know Hogan will still get a great response because he's Hulk Hogan, but I'm sure these promos over the last two weeks have swayed some people just due to how entertaining Michaels has been. I can't see Hogan managing to make Michaels look as bad when they inevitably have him reference Michaels losing his smile and whatnot, especially if Michaels plays up to them.

The Matt Hardy stuff was the only other highlight of the night for me. It's questionable whether or not they should have gone the whole "rehiring" route since his whole anti-WWE gimmick was pretty cool, but this was the easiest way to explain things to the mass audience.

Makes the Kane character look like a total chump though. The guy's in jail for beating up someone who they just admitted was only pretending to be his wife.

The rest of the show was totally forgettable for me. Jericho's promos just seem like they've been rehashed over and over and over again with just the names changed to suit his current feud. It doesn't help that he's working against a guy I find no entertainment value in at all. The recent Cena endings of Raw just seem so flat.

Everything else was garbage. Why the hell are Rob Conway and Val Venis wrestling on Raw? Did they really think the fans would do anything but shit on it?

Oh, and Rob Schneider needs to die.

Man. I hate Shawn Michaels, but that might be the best promo he's ever done. Some good work. Where was this for the last two and half years? Why did every other feud he had seem like he was just going through the motions compared to this?

It's funny, to Shawn all that matters is delivering in the ring, since he was never a good money draw. To Hogan, if you didn't draw money, you didn't exist. I figure the truth is between the two extremes.

So much for the Matt Hardy announcement being "below" Vince. Matt better make the most of this, because I can't imagine he'll ever have a better chance.

Okay, I normally skip the diva thing but I watched. I hope Leyla wins, she is insanely adorable. And she was SCREWED tonight. That other skank stepped OFF her platform and onto Leyla's and they fell off at the same time. How is that a tie? Also, I watched the hot dog thing from last week. It still wasn't hot, but she was still clearly a superstar.

Rob Conway is now getting the singles push everyone has been whining for. I hope you're happy!

Considering Cena got boned last week, they should have let him have a little 'venge this week. Do a back and forth thing, don't mushroom-slap him every week and then only let him get his revenge at the PPV. Only fifteen percent of the audience gets those things anyway.

I missed Tatanka. He obviously spent all the money he got when he sold out to the Million Dollar Man on pizza.

Can someone tell me why Rob Conway is wearing Chyna's old shorts? (And Mrs. Shem did come across with the Village People comment the moment she saw him in that cap.)

As for Matt's using real names, I was more intrigued by his mentioning that the Kane/Lita marriage was just "on TV." Veering a little close to Russo worky-shoot territory there ...

At least Summer got a chance to show off the really nice outfit before she got canned.

Good main event -- straightforward babyface against impossible odds stuff, and everyone played their roles well.

I was asleep for the first 20 minutes of the show... really ought to try and get more sleep on Sunday nights.

Quick thoughts, though. Once again HBK steals the show, but what else is new? Jericho really went out of his way to screw Cena, but how come there's never a referee around when the guys I like are about to get screwed?

Tatanka, huh? Interesting. The reason the crowd cheered for him is because they forgot how much he sucks. I thought the Eugene Invitational was quite entertaining this week, with Kurt Angle going apeshit when he saw Eugene imitating him. Next week, Eugene had better be careful, because the rules of these invitationals always favor the challengers. Eugene has to beat Kurt Angle in three minutes; Angle doesn't have to beat Eugene. My guess is that Angle will end up costing himself the match by accident.

Matt Hardy was intense, and the "I hope you die in a car crash" thing was kinda "WHOA~!", but I wasn't agape at it or anything. Wasn't exactly a Sue from Survivor I moment which had me going "Holy shit, what a fuckin' bitch."

My line of the night: "What'cha gonna do when reality kicks you right in the face?"-- Shawn Michaels

I'll try to recap next week, depends on if I'm feeling up to it. And if I can get some decent sleep.

I really liked the Hardy promo. I was kinda amazed on how far they went with it with the things they had Hardy say. The only thing missing was him telling Vince right to his face that he can go f*ck himself and that he doesn't owe him sh*t.

The HBK/Hogan skit had me rolling (and I'm a big Hogan fan).

At first I groaned when I realized they were gonna have Rob Schneider come out for the diva challenge so that he could promote his new movie...but he made it bearable to watch and made me chuckle a few times.

I think they went a little overboard with all these kicks to the groin to Cena from Jericho. I was beginning to think that maybe Jericho had developed a new finishing move.

The rest of the show really didn't do anything for me.

Pretty solid Raw. HBK was amazing tonight. Hilarious. Nice to see Hardy/Edge move to the next level. Y2J/Cena are having a good program and looks like SummerSlam will be loaded. Also nice to see an actor not be put off by a wrestling show. Look what Jeff Jarrett did for Ben Stiller.

I made myself very proud during the Diva Search. While fast forwarding through it as usual, I caught a glimpse of Rob Schneider. Something in me wanted to hit play, just out of surprise -- but no, I kept going straight past it! I am a paragon of self-control!

Y'gotta keep in mind that Tatanka was never actually slim & cut really. he always had a thick build.

I bet if the Diva segment was on Smackdown, they'd bleep Rob Schnieder saying "boner". Thats the only funny thing in the whole segment. I hope WWE didnt pay him to appear at RAW.

And the Hogan/Larry King segment had me in tears. It brought back WWF in 96 with the Larry Fling Live/Huckster spoofs they did. I wonder where the Nacho Man is these days.
