What? Can you explain this statement?

What's to explain? Kids needs BOTH parents. Now, if you have any question about that, I supect you need to do some quality reasearch about parents and incidence of delinquency and post-adolencent normalization. That is why most of the states (I am not willing to do the reserach here and now, but I suspect the number is 40 or geater) do not grant adoptions to unmarried persons without some special situation. Does that explain my meaning, or is that what you were asking about? I wasn't sure. The only other question you could have been asking about was my use of the word "caretakers" - which you could replace with nannies, "substitute parents" or something similar that Miss Jolie has to hire to care for her children during the time she is working. I doubt she drops them off at Daycare on the way to the Studio.

As I said, I am sure that the kids she has adopted are better off physically. No doubt they are better off financially and helth-wise. I think that there are valid concerns in several arenas, including some of the ones I mentioned in the previous post.

But you didn't say that it would be harder for Angelina to raise her kid then if there were two parents. You said the kid was still half-orphaned. What do you mean by that statement? It sounds like you're saying the kid isn't really a full part of a loving family, and I say that's not your decision to make, if that is what you are saying.

Perhaps part of the problem with raising single kids is that there's such a societal bias against single parents and the kids part of those families. I know a girl who's gotten beat up at school because she has no dad. Must be hard to grow up good with that going on, no?

Of course there a bias, just like there is with anything else that is "different". Kids are all about stereotypes in a way you and I would never dream of being.

But I have no problem with single parents who didn't intend to be. That's life. It's just not what is best for a child.

You know, I don't exactly agree with Cerebus often. And I don't exactly, here. But the impression I got from reading the article is that she adopted this child in a virtual whim. That is disturbing.

I've gotta agree... it's almost like she's going for the United Nations of Adoption. Not that I doubt that she'll provide a better life (I'm sure she will).

I dont know how any of you can make any judgement on what kind of mother she will be or is. All this strikes me as slamming a celebrity just for the sake of doing it.

How many of you have adopted kids from Afrca? or any kid? Is your home open to foster children? If the single woman down the street from you adopted a child from Africa how many of you would slam her? Id never thought I would see a bunch of people slamming a celebrity for NOT doing something self-centered.

We have an adopted child. And we also sponsor several children in countries through the various agencies that help them in their counties, both orphans and children from disadvantaged families. One of our "children", Carmen, has "graduated" from World Vision, which means her family doesn't need support anymore. One of our current kids is in India, just north of the area devestated by the Tsunami. And I have been to Romania to help in the orhanages there.

There - my credentials ok?

Forget alternate energy sources, we should have been thinking outside the box on forms of transport. How did the automobile become the final stop on modes of travel?
