As of today (July 11), Matt Hardy has finished his contractual obligations and 90-day release with the WWE.
He's working for ROH this Saturday and announced on his latest website entry that he won't be controlled by anyone anymore - not WWE, not TNA, not ROH. And that when he wrestles for ROH on Saturday, their booker Gabe Sapolsky should know that he's doing his own thing.
This is either about to get really interesting... or scary!
Either way, I'm glad for the guy that he's free and can make his living in wrestling however he chooses. I'm liking TNA more and more the past couple months.
He's also dropped a number of oh so subtle "hints" that:
A) TNA will be his next stop (making references to working "in Orlando," calling them "The Nice Alternative", etc.)
B) One of the reasons he won't be back in the WWE is that Johnny Ace told him not to do "The Matt Hardy Show"
C) Apparently he and Lita are no longer on speaking terms as he calls her a whore. He also mentions going to the North Pole to visit Santa with Edge which is obviously code for "Matt Hardy is crazy."
Also of note, on the subject of former WWE talent on the move (though not at all connected to this story, and not interesting enough for its own topic):
Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
Rhino announced that he will be working the next TNA PPV, but it wasn't really clear whether or not he's signed to any sort of long term deal or anything. It sounded like, from the interview that he'd be working with Jeff Jarrett. Also of note is that he seemed to go out of his way not to burn any bridges with the WWE, which was smart.
Tonight I wanna ruin my life, I wanna throw it all away, In a spectacular way
B) One of the reasons he won't be back in the WWE is that Johnny Ace told him not to do "The Matt Hardy Show"
From reading those posts, it sounded like WWE didn't want him to just drop the show, but drop the site; like the deal was "Okay, we'll give you your job back, but you can never go on the Internet again." And obviously that's a deal Matt's incapable of taking.
It's kinda funny how somewhere along the lines*, things did a 180 and Matt having a WWE job became the last thing he wanted.
* - the wedding bit? because if it's the wedding I told you so!!! point for me

Actually, that was written about in the "Are we there yet?" book. Edge wrote about how they were near the North Pole and were invited up to a local "Santa's Village" type place, and how "Santa" was a huge wrestling fan.
At least that's what I *think* he's talking about -- I haven't seen Matt's commentary, so I may be taking that totally out of context.
As for Matt Hardy avoiding WWE in favor of TNA and his lame little Internet show (assuming he was offered a position by Ace), what a dumb move on his part. Yeah, I'm sure he's angry at WWE still, and he certainly has a right to be. But now is the chance for him to make the biggest money-drawing angle of his career. He tries to come back in, say, a couple of years, it's too late.
And, sorry, airing your WWE greivances in TNA may help Jarrett's promotion marginally, but it's by far the lesser of two opportunities.
He just needs to quit ripping on Edge & Lita every freaking chance he gets. It's getting REALLY stale. He needs to realize that he's not the first guy to be dicked over by a girl and/or job & probably won't be the last.
As for not going back to WWE, probably a smart move for him. With all the animosity that he still seems to carry, it could all blow up in his face. He could do great things in TNA, especially if they give him a live mic.

She pulled a Rob Van Dam in that match. Nidia had her in a half-crab (a pretty darn good one at that) for quite some time, and Dawn was able to run around and jump off the second turnbuckle and everything just fine afterwards.
