How many asteroids are there in just our solar system? And she claims the destruction of one throws off the horoscope? The United States does not have a monopoly on stupid court cases it seems.

At least the frivolous lawsuit isn't tying up the American Court System, at least not yet. I think the main problem with attacking the comet is it was a blatant act of war against the Comet Empire. Now, NASA could say there are no life forms on the comet. However, isn't it a slight bit arrogant to state that just because something isn't a life form to us, it isn't a life form to others? Perhaps an invisible race inhabits the comet, or perhaps the composition of the surface is really the inhabitants. And, who says the comet doesn't have alliances in place that are activated upon attack? The chances of this attack on the comet having repercussion are beneath minuscule, but, why risk it?
Not that I value my horoscope to be anywhere near the vicinity of three hundred mill, but I do wonder why they are messin' with this comet. I saw a bunch of nerds at NASA cheer when it all went off without a hitch, but why are they doing it exactly? And is it a real reason or "it might hit us in 4026"?

Comets are basically left over material from the formation of our solar system, so that and the "let's figure out a way to stop one should it be headed towards Earth" are the 2 main points of interest. Plus the fact that comets are 1 of the few things in our solar system we haven't studied up close.
Just another example of someone with too much time on their hands.
I don't want to get personal, but who really believes in the horoscope? I think it's mostly bullshit; it's all random. There are five newspapers here in and around Hamilton (the Spec, the Sun, the Star, the Globe&Mail, and the National Post) and I'm certain that all five will NOT say the same thing.
I wonder how hard the people at NASA are laughing right now.
I play chicken with the train, play chicken with the train train, uh-huh uh-huh!
Hitting the comet was also an example of people wanting to play with toys for a whole lot of money. I realize we sort of discussed this issue before with the going to Mars thread, but aren't there other things to spend money on?

Maybe. Howver, the comet is supposed to be composed of the "stuff" around at the start of the universe. The idea is to knock some loose and try to determine what it is. When we loose our thirst for the quest of knowledge for knowledge's sake, we are doomed as a society.

Well it is NOW since those NASA guys knocked the cosmos off-balance.
BTW, MOSTLY bullshit?
