I enjoyed the ME.

Say what you will, but there was a tonne of talent in that ring, past, present and future.

Christian is a freakin god!

What? The ME sucked. I wanted Rock, not Hogan. Fuck him and his stupid VH1 show (although his daughter is smoking hot). And by the way, that burn by Jericho on Nash was AWESOME. That had me laughing for like 5 mins straight.

I hope Marty really isnt in jail though.

And, the Flair/Angle match was surreal. Very good, but weird as hell.

I miss the GWF.

-I can’t be the only one who was expecting the Rock the entire night...Ending was very nice. Having the WWE champion in the main event with Hogan & Michaels did a lot to elevate the title back to something of importance.

-Loved every moment of Flair vs. Angle. From Angle’s slapping to Flair’s crotch-grabbing, it was all perfect.

-Smackdown’s roster gets robbed again. Big Show still had plenty of new feuds to get into on Smackdown. No way in hell he’ll be a main-eventer on Raw. As for RVD, what did he do on Smackdown in the past year?

-Crowd was dead for Carlito, but I thought he did great. This guy is going places...

-I’ve always wanted them to try the 3-member announcing again, but the Coach is not what I had in mind. Oddly, the new ring announcer reminds me heavily of WCW’s old announcer.

-Line of the Night:
“Nash will probably pull his hamstring reaching for the phone.”
-Jericho

-Very entertaining show overall.

I would have preferred Rock, but only because he's been away the longest, not because I like him better than Hogan or whatever. Main event was ok but nothing I'll remember in two weeks.

I hope they aren't going to portray RVD as "the ECW guy." If they don't actually bring ECW back he's just going to seem like some dumbass hanging onto the past.

RVD!!! And the "I can talk and not just say Dude, Whatever, and Cool" version as well...the lottery strikes again. And the Big Show.

I thought after tonight we'd have a clearer version of the Title picture, and get a better hint of who was gonna be going to SD, because surely they're not gonna run with the 2 top titles on Raw, and a new title for SD.

Flair/Angle was pretty good, but they went overkill with Flair's methods of escape...

Raw's final 2 go tomorrow night, and then trades until Thursday...will be interesting to see what transpires for the final 3 days of the lottery...but RVD & Angle on Raw, I'm a happy boy.

Overall, a very entertaining show. I'm also on the bandwagon hoping for The Rock. Then again, I'm suspicious whenever the WWE has a show in California.

Is it just me or do you think Big Show will just be trade bait for Raw to get some mid-carder in exchange for Show on Smackdown(i.e, Haas and someone else.)

Carlito does a really good job with the character, he just needs to posse up with someone so he doesn't have to wrestle much.

Angle vs Flair had a lot more emotion in it than any Raw match that I've seen in quite some time.

Yeah. Double-taping tonight, and another double-taping next Monday, serving as bookends to the Asia Tour.

I thought RAW was pretty decent. Not mindblowing, but solid.

Carlito and RVD was pretty good from what I saw of it. That was the first time I've actually liked RVD in many a year.

Angle vs Flair was incredibly awesome. It wasn't a technical masterpiece, but it was two of my favorites giving it their all, and that's all I can ask. And that promo at the beginning was awesome as well. I could take a whoo-off just about every week.

Batista is still World Champ? Interesting. It's a good thing they didn't cut time from the Diva Search to let him actually do something. I figure that he and HHH will wind up on SD, but I'm always wrong.

Diva Search - "Making the crowd boo hot women for two years". Cameron or Summer should win. The rest were blah and surely can't hold a candle to the lovely and endearing Maria (I'm serious).

Hulk Hogan was a letdown. When they say "Hollywood" I think "the Rock". Not THAT would have been awesome.

A Captain Charisma-Goat Boy-Y2J has definite potential as an alliance/faction. Though, I don't understand why everything is hunky-dory between Jericho and Christian, but whatever, I'll roll with it.

Very good show, and with so many stars on during the draft lottery, it has actually felt like the Raws of yesteryear where anything can and will happen.

I gotta feeling it's Battista and Shelton going to SD. I would hope Shelton would stay on Raw as there could be some nice matches between him and RVD in the future. I'd send Tajiri instead to have a little bit more in the cruiser division.

I actually thought the complete opposite... Hogan and Michaels were in the ring for most of the match, and turned it into their usual nostalgia-fest. I kept hoping for them to at least turn to Cena at the end and do a "you can't see me" pose or SOMETHING to pretend he is at least somewhere close to their level. Instead, you have the champ looking like a goofy fanboy doing the "we're not worthy" thing. It was cute, I guess, but I certainly wouldn't say it did anything to "elevate" the title; and, while it of course didn't do any permanent damage to Cena's stardom, it was unfortunate that on a show where you have Batista saying it doesn't get any better than his title, and coming on the heels of a pay per view where Cena's title -- while ostensibly equal to Batista's -- was presented as the obvious warm-up match, you have Cena playing third fiddle to a bunch of old men.

Speaking of old men, was it me or was Ric Flair downright creepy tonight? I'm sorry, but in no way can I understand cheering for a man who is squeezing another man's testicles and chewing on his body parts. I felt like I was watching gay porn.

...Wow. I was more entertained by RAW tonight than I've been in a long time. A very, very long time.

I, too, loved absolutely every second Flair and Angle shared onscreen, from the opening promo to the match itself. This is probably the best match I've seen out of Flair since his return to WWE the night after Survivor Series '01. Was the dirty stuff overkill? Maybe. Do I care? Hell, no. It was a perfect opportunity to remind you that, yes, Flair will do absolutely anything to you to win. Or even just to hurt you.

Big Show returns to RAW? Eh. Color me unimpressed.

The Cena/Michaels segment with Maria was priceless. There are many instances in which WWE hasn't come close to finding someone a gimmick that actually works for them. Having Maria play the clueless ditz is brilliant, because, yeah, she actually seems to be one. Or she's a much better actress than any of us give her credit for, haha.

Anyhoo, Cena and HBK's reactions to that were priceless, and I liked the segment overall, with Cena "keeping it real" with a very low-key approach, yet still electrifying the crowd. I have to give Cena credit, he was boring me to tears on SmackDown, but RAW has grown on him very quickly.

So, Kane grabs Lita in the locker room, chokes her twice, does his freaky "You want to breathe, don't you?" thing, says he's going to enjoy choking every last breath out of her, and he's the good guy. That's life in WWE, I guess.

My biggest "FUCK YOU, WWE!" moment of the night was when Tajiri couldn't break the Masterlock. Oh, please give me a fuckin' break. Tajiri's a multi-time WCW and WWE Cruiserweight Champion, multi-time WWE and ECW Tag Team Champion, former WCW U.S. Heavyweight Champion, former Hardcore Champion, former ECW World Television Champion, and one of the most entertaining wrestlers, in my opinion, in WWE. And he can't break a goddamn full nelson? Fuck that. The Green Mist went a little way towards repairing that in my mind, but it wasn't nearly enough. Any other midcarders whose reputation you wanna ruin, WWE? Or is it gonna be Kurt Angle in four months?

The Cabana was great, and nice to see RVD back on RAW, where hopefully he'll continue the "ECW Rob Van Dam" character he resurrected at One Night Stand. His promo tonight certainly reiterated the things he said at that PPV, and is a good indication that maybe, finally, WWE will allow RVD to be utilized to something approximating his full potential.

If the Jericho crack on Nash's hamstring was the #1 line of the night (and that will get no argument from me), I think the #2 line of the night might go to Carlito when he said, "The truth is, you're still injured. And I kinda like it that way." Followed by him immediately beating the shit out of RVD's knee. RVD/Carlito for the Intercontinental Title in the future? DASCOOL!

Next was the Angle/Flair match, and I've already covered that. My eyes were glued to the screen for every instant of that contest, which is more than I can say for the Masterlock Challenge and Diva Search.

And speaking of the Diva Search, I hit the mute button and concentrated on playing me some WreSpi. Nothing quite like the satisfaction that comes from beating the hell out of Johnny Highspot. I'm quite dirty in that game myself... I will always take it to the outside and start DDTing people on chairs and shit. But I didn't get my first disqualification until my 70th match or so of the game. Bad idea to powerbomb someone onto a table in full sight of the referee, I guess.

I unmuted the Diva Search thing when I saw Sergeant Slaughter on the tube, hoping that maybe he would restore some sanity to this thing. It seemed like a good idea at the time. I re-muted it just before the words "boot camp" came out of his mouth. I'll make sure to have a 20-minute Windows Media Player playlist ready for just such an occasion in the future.

Batista's promo was OK... good to see they haven't forgotten about him, I guess. It was somewhat of a generic promo, though... nothing I'll remember in a week.

Hulkamania running wild again, brothers! C'mon, no one honestly thought his last match would be at Backlash, right? I loved, loved, LOVED Cena's reaction when he heard "Real American"-- he sunk to his knees and held his face in shocked disbelief. That was absolutely the perfect reaction to that. And how freakin' weird was it to see Hogan, Michaels and Cena in a six-man tag-team? And I thought the one-night-only August '99 team of Hulk Hogan, Sting and Goldberg was something to see. (Of course, this team had the benefit of a surprise entrance for Hogan, whereas the only surprise in '99 was that Hogan had finally ditched the nWo colors and returned to the Hulkamaniac red-and-yellow.)

The match wasn't the best I've seen, but I was still marking out. OK, I'm a Hulkamaniac, does that make you feel better? I'm not a member of the Chain Gang yet, but no question Cena's getting better, at least from a charisma standpoint if not necessarily from an in-ring point-of-view.

Anyhoo, good mark-out match to send the fans home happy (or in the case of the TV viewers, to let them, um, remain home happy?) I don't think there was ever any question in anyone's mind who was winning that match, but though it was the biggest foregone conclusion since Triple H's Undisputed Title win at WrestleMania X-8, it was still a fun little match to watch.

Whoa, only three matches in two hours? (And that's only if you count Show/Snitsky, which was boring as all hell). Then why do I have a satisfied smile on my face?

RAW Thoughts:

Good opening promo from Angle and Flair. Really set the tone for their match later in the night....Man, Big Show came over with little fan fare. A squash win over Snitsky, but at least it was a win....I REALLY wonder how many more of these Masterlock segments can be done.....Good RVD promo on Carlito. For some reason, I liked that better than his ECW promo....VERY good Flair/Angle match, probably about as good a match as Flair is capable of having these days....

The Diva Search segment was worth it just to hear Sarge utter the words "Bikini Boot Camp"....Nice of them to give Batista a 3 minute interview after retaining the world title in a Hell in a Cell match the previous night....I don't care if Hogan can't wrestle or doesn't give a rub or whatever excuse you can come up with- when he comes out, it's magic. It's electric. The crowd is totally different than at any other time, and it rubs off on this viewer, at least. And its a feel-good time, for me anyway. Just something about it.

Justin Roberts was doing the announcing for the Live Event I went to back in February, and I thought he was good at it...I like him a lot better than Lillian.

True enough the final two picks are made tonight, and I wonder if they'll do the trades too, since this will be essentially WWE's Thursday.

Just read a good article on Kurt Angle I got while bumping around on Scaia's site...good read, and I think the original website was IGN..check it out.

If a shot of Flair grabbing Angle isn't in the next Captionomics, I'll be shocked. I particularly liked that Flair flat out told Angle exactly what he was going to do and then went and did it.

I somewhat paid attention to the Diva Search, but outside of that first girl, the rest seemed to have little in the way of charisma. The last one felt the need to rip off two wrestlers gimmicks, so it could be interesting to see if she tries to make every appearance go the same route.

I can understand Cena hopping out of the ring early and that seems more like something he wanted to do than something he was told to do. It might have been more beneficial for him to hang around in there a bit longer, but not only did it come off as a show of respect but also maybe a bit of standing on his own in terms of pops. He certainly isn't having trouble getting crowd reaction.

I'm really hoping the Chris Masters thing pays off soon. It's just so repetitive. It doesn't seem to be building up to any particular guy being the one to do it and Masters isn't a big enough name to use this as a way of making anybody. Who knows, maybe Flair just by virtue of being the only one smart enough to use the trick leg to the balls...

I haven't been watching much Smackdown for a while so watching the Cabana tonight was almost like my first exposure to Carlito talking. Very good job. RVD is the most over, under-pushed guy in the company. Now that he's apparently getting a push as the face of ECW' resurrection, I'm just hoping they let him deliver some ECW style matches to go along with his more ECW style promos. Granted, he always was more of a cocky promo than an angry promo, but anything is better than what he had been doing when he was put behind a microphone.

And as for trades, I have to go with Y2J and Batista to Smackdown. Whether Y2J goes in a trade or via draft, the Highlight Reel is moving. I think I would have rather seen HHH go to Smackdown with the World Title, but Batista retaining was a pleasant suprise and certainly looks like a solid endorsement from management that he's got legs.

Good RAW overall. That said, I'm not looking forward to 2 months of 15 minute Diva segments, especially since being the winner doesn't mean they're the only one to stick around afterward.

I hadn't realized until ekedolphin pointed it out that there were only three actually wrestling matches (one of which I skipped because it had Hogan and the Daily Show was particularly funny tonight). Yet, I loved the show tonight. I know, I'm childish, simple-minded and perverse, but I kinda liked the DivaSearch thing. It wasn't wrestling and certainly wasn't intellectually stimulating, but then it wasn't meant to be. Of course, the fact that I shut off my brain as soon as it started made it a lot easier. Also helped me see things from Maria's point of view. I see Alexis as the "heel" in this group, though the one girl got plenty of boos when she was unable to strip. Never thought a girl'd get booed for not wearing underwear, but then, anything *can* happen on RAW.

Angle and Flair really stole the show tonight (what a surprise). I wasn't really there for Flair's glory days, but Angle must've brought out the best in ol' Naitch. In the past few years he's just been a saggy old man trying desperately to keep up with his younger competition. But somehow, he managed to go in there with an Olympic Gold Medalist and actually convince me that he could beat Kurt Angle. Didn't happen, of course, but I gotta admit I was marking for Flair all the way. The overt testicular torture was a bit much, seeing as how I've seen refs in previous shows disqualify with a single low blow, but this is wrestling, it's not supposed to make logical sense. Bravo to both; I just wish I'd taped it.

RVD actually made me give a shit about him, but then, he was actually given a live mike and allowed to talk. His "high-flying moves" haven't been what they were in his ECW days, but maybe the PPV lit a fire under his arse. Just hope he'll be back soon, usually a "re-injury" angle means he's not gonna be ringworthy for a a couple months at least (thinking of Pillman in particular). RVD/Carlito for the IC Title could be a hell of a feud if one of the titles goes back to Smackdown! and he's not stuck on the third tier.

Glad Kane's no longer just standing there and making mean faces. Though I, too, must muse on the irony of the face in an angle being a homicidal multiple-murderer who strangles his ex-wife and threatens to choke her to death. Edgy, I suppose (no pun intended).

I'm amazed HHH jobbed to Big Dave three PPVs in a row. He must have dirty pictures of Stephanie and a moose or something ... though if you're going to go to that much trouble to get him over and get his run going, you don't wanna give him a 3-minute segment wedged between the T&A and Hulk Hogan. Then again, talking's still not exactly his strong suit. He's really better at being freakishly strong and killing people dead.

And I, too, must congratulate Jericho on the Nash line. Any word on if Jannetty really IS in jail?
