This can only mean one thing: Batista wins the match at Vengeance, gets drafted to Smackdown afterwards, and HHH will chase John Cena for the WWE Championship at RAW.

Haha that rules.

I'd say Hassan lost because he's not good and not over and nobody cares about his streak, like Rodney Mack's when it was vanquished by Goldberg. Like, what was the guy who beat Hassan going to gain? Was it going to make a hot new superstar out of Rob Conway? I think not. Of course, who ended Kurt Angle's unpinned streak? Yes the Rock.

But all things considered, I think Cena, who needs to come across as the man, decisively shutting him up was about as good a way to finally beat Hassan as you could think of.

"But nope, Vince was just poking fun (and did a great job at it)."

Right, but his fun poking also drove up Matt's value and made people Want him even more, so that was nice of him.

Live from Phoenix...
Live shows are just so much fun! Just a couple of quick things now -- I'll try to type more tomorrow (as I decipher my unusually illegible chicken-scratch notes.)

Lillian, in spite of the gross Viscera angle, inevitably kicks ass with the national anthem.

A few people in the crowd tried to start a "you fucked up" chant at Shelton, but most of us were more in the "are you OK?" camp. I never saw a ref-X, but he wasn't quite right for most of the rest of the match. Nice job by Carlito of keeping things going while Shelton got himself back together.

Did y'all get Simon Dean's "Huge Hefner" comment to Viscera? OK, that was wortha tee-hee.

They got the entire building with the Matt Hardy entrance music. There had been assorted "We want Matt" before that, so the timing was perfect. And Kane coming up through the ring was killer!

Sign of the night (may not have made camera): "Congratulations Edge and Lita -- now, how about a menage a trois?" Second place: "Edge don't do it -- you can do much better"

I was quite pleased with the pop for Victoria when she whacked Christy. (Do I need to take a sign to Vegas saying, "Victoria, Save us from the Bimbos!" ?)

I'm not really much into the Cena character, but he's a hell of an entertainer. Seemed like a very short match though.

Earl always totally laughs when he gets a pop for his entrance. :-)

I presume y'all didn't get Kurt's cheap heel heat promo: OK, bagging on the Suns is one thing. But when he brought up the football team ... that got more of a laugh than heel heat.

I caught just the very end of the ME when I got home -- they turned the audience volume down! Batista got some of the biggest pops I have ever heard. Angle already was getting the love/hate reaction. Hunter & Flair always get a big response. And we do just love us our Shawn Michaels. So ME was just tons of fun.

No actual after show, which suprised me a little. Fun, fun live show!

ALSO Live from Phoenix...

You must not have been too far away from my section, because we had the same set-up of chants. I'll own up to being in the "You Fucked Up" camp for the Shelton mishap. That was mostly due to my bitterness of nary a single bit of ECW paraphernalia in the building. Figured I had to due something.

The Edge-Lita wedding was crazy-go-nuts in my section with the "We Want Matt" and the "We Want Kane" chants merging into a "We Want Can't" garble. Also there was a huge "boring" chant that made the television as well. The row got brutal after the swerve, throwing down bullshit chants.

I finally got to yell at people chanting "USA" at Hassan that he's from Detroit. Nobody seems to get it though.

The guy that got the most heel heat in my section was this guy three rows down who wouldn't put down his "I am Flair's Son" sign until everybody chanted "You're adopted" at him.

Great show live, not so great on TV when we all rushed home to see it.

They seemed to do some sort of really fast edit with the camera on the tombstone so not to show that the padre's head was about a foot off of the mat when Kane's knees hit.

When Bischoff had Shelton come to the ring before the draft pick announcement, I was sure it was going to be Charlie Haas. I was really surprised and was marking out when Carlito came out. Unfortunately it seemed that the Phoenix crowd for some reason just totally shit all over the pick as the crowd seemed to be sitting on their hands during Carlito's entrance.

I actually look forward to Maria's weekly airheaded backstage interview. The look on Carlito's face and his answer to her question was hilarious.

When I heard Matt Hardy's music hit, I actually jumped off of the sofa. But after about 2 seconds I quickly got ahold of myself and was saying outloud to my television set: "No way is Matt coming out.....he ain't coming out." But inside I was really hoping like a madman that he would step out.

I thought it was really odd that they built up Hassan's winning streak, kind of made a big deal about it, then had him lose in a hugely unspectacular and anti-climatic squash to Cena. I figured that they would have had Hassan at least end his streak at a PPV.

Well, I'm not going to say "I'm never watching again", but the show was bad enough at that point that I was only half paying attention and half playing Xbox. When I heard Matt's music I paused the game and cranked up the set because I thought something really cool would be happening. Then I realized it was just them being dicks to the fans for no other reason that just to be dicks. I just shut the tv off and went back to Xbox, not just because of that 'swerve', but that was the straw that broke my back as far as having to watch a crap show filled with crap leading into a PPV I have no interest in getting. I'm not sure if me turning off my tv was their intention, but if so, job well done.

Shelton Benjamin's Intercontinental title reign lasted 244 days, 4 more than Randy Orton's. So why did Randy's seem twice as long ?!

Cue the 'the longest since The Rock in late 1997 with 265 days' announcer call !

My theory worked out with the draft. End a feud by sending one half of a Smackdown feud to Raw. I predict either Eddie Guerrero or Rey Mysterio next.

This might sound pretty snide, coming from someone who's been out of the loop for quite a while.

I've literally not seen more than 60 minutes of WWE in the past three years. So, I'm flipping around the dial and I see Edge and Lita standing at an altar geting married. I figure that this might be some horribly tacky fun - maybe George "The Animal" Steele will turn out to be the father of the bride or something - so I stick around. MY WIFE and I were putting the over/under at 3 minutes for the appearance of someone to object to the proceedings. Unfortunately, it was longer than that - way longer.

Snitsky? Oh, my. He's quite ugly. Swell poem about dead babies and all.

Didn't know until I read this thread that Matt Hardy wasn't still on the active roster, so when he didn't come out, I figured he'd run in from the crowd or something when Edge started snickering. Guess not, huh?

Then, this big THING pops up from under the altar. My God - It's Isaac Yankem, DDS! Who else is gonna show up? IRS? The Million Dollar Man? Bastion Booger? Oh, I see, that's Kane. I didn't know he was going maskless now. How did they get the mask off of him and how did they explain away the fact that his face was terribly disfigured, etc.? Ah, nevermind.

Edge and Lita do the google-eyed "feets don't fail me now!" and the preacher gets chokeslammed. Gee, I thought Kane wasn't going to do that, after he had so nicely picked him up and dusted him off...

Oh, heck with it. I think I saw about 4 minutes of wrestling from the wedding until the end. And I can't say I was terribly impressed with what little wrestling I did see. I was hoping that Angle might be worth watching, but nothing much there. I think it might possibly be another 3 years before I watch more than 30 minutes of WWE again.

(Just my two cents. I know that if I was actually following things closely this would have been more exciting. I think. Anyway, I understand that there's a whole bunch of luchadores on Smackdown now? I guess I mighgt have to check that out.)

I'm just disappointed that they didn't kill-off Christy. I'd trade her for 1.5 Al Wilsons any day of the week.

This show really promotes adult literacy; every other segment found me reaching for a nearby book.

Man, my Tivo got a workout last night. I compressed the entire show down to about 40 minutes of watchable content, tossing out the rest. Diva search? Skip. Most of the wedding? Skip. Main event? Skip. Only things that survived the onslaught were His Majestic Coolness, Christian/Chris's promos, and Cena. (I don't care if people say he sucks in the ring; I liked his comment on Hassan's racism. They need more of that than "I see sand people.")

Even given all the yawn inducing stuff tonight, it'd be a forgivable Raw if not for the Matt Hardy bait and switch. I wouldn't call it funny -- I'd call it insulting. If they're going to take this ridiculous "No no, see, she screwed KANE! Matt doesn't exist and never existed!" attitude then at least they could be consistent about it... the only reason to break fourth wall and play Matt's entrance is to mock the people who know better. I'm tired of it. Just because I pay attention to the world outside Vince's little fictional viagra festival doesn't give him the right to insult me.

Not getting the PPV, and if I didn't have the tivo, I probably wouldn't even watch Raw anymore. The negatives are outweighing the positives.

I got a "WCW Ric Flair suspension" vibe from the Matt Hardy music. If they were smart (and the theory dies a'borning) they'd mimic the '98 Flair return in Greenville and bring back Matt in the Carolinas. Then again, I can't say the Matt has any more pull here than anywhere else across the country ... And if they were REALLY Smart, Matt would appear with Trish at his side. Trish gets to continue her deadly indults and makes the feud even. Then she and Lita split off from the guys to recharge the women's divison leaving Edge to gamble the title shot against Matt's permamnent exile from the WWE as their blow-off match. Matt wins and gets a quick title match (and loses) to cap off his largest-ever popularity. Edge stews. Lita takes the belt from Trish. She starts to mock Edge for not having a belt, turning him more toward the face camp and cementing the "womens is evil" tenent of wrestling.

Did anyone else think Edge was a bit rocked by the loud "boring" chant during his vows? He appeared to cut to the chase.

Anyone else think the short ME followed by a tag match was to protect Angle? I didn't see the Booker feud, so I don't know how much he's willing to do on a weekly show these days. He still seems to walk a bit gingerly.

Does Carlito have a finisher? I demand every wrestler of note have a finisher.

Of course, Hassan's going to SD; that's the Land of Evil Fur'ners. Imagine the Survivor Series match with Hassan, Dupree, Suzuki, and one of the Canadians against a pro-US team.

No MasterLock challenge this week? Would it have killed them to have Victoria pay Masters to Lock Christy during the promo. He gets his weekly spotlight, and Victoria becomes the desperate heel. Win-Win.

Something else I forgot to mention: Are the RAW directors getting worse at commanding the camera crews? Just last night, for instance, Viscera picked up Simon for a delayed Masshuginator. We get a wide shot of the pair, then a close-up to see their faces. JR says, "now watch this," and the shot now becomes Lillian watching her man, and we miss the finishing slam entirely. We cut back to see the seated Viscera and the bouncing mat. I've noticed things like this happening for a few weeks now.

Someone in the WWE must hate Smackdown; I mean...why in the world would they move Cena, Carlito and Angle? They were three of the most entertaining wrestlers on that show.

Smackdown better get someone really bad ass next Thursday.

Decent Raw this week, but I skipped over the wedding. I keep thinking that Kane should return to the mask.

If Shane McMahon can push Kane into a burning dumpster, and the next week Kane comes back with just a bandage on his arm, then nothing will work to get the mask back on.

I'm making a big assumption here, but I think Carlito's finisher is Jarrett's Stroke. I don't think he's won a match with it, much less actually used it. But there was a point during the match last night where he was very obviously setting up for it and Shelton reversed out of it. At that point I said "Oh ok, he finally got himself a finisher." Granted, I could be wrong if he never winds up using it.

I just checked his wwe.com bio which lists "Finishing Move: Modified Swinging Neckbreaker." That sounds a bit like a Roll of the Dice, which, as finishers go, sucks almost as much as the Orton Overdrive.

Because Smackdown’s getting moved into the “Death slot.” So they’re moving all their top promo workers to the show that will guarantee them exposure time. I’m going to predict that Thursday will probably see Shelton make the jump, and next week will see either Jericho or Christian make the jump (most likely Jericho, but basically whoever wins the WWE Title from Cena). Meanwhile, Rey will probably make the jump from Smackdown.

That would make no sense whatsoever. The only way the story works is if Rollins has better prospects without the Shield than with them, and the only way he has that is if he has Triple H's backing.
