Raven, from one Jew to another Mazel Tov.

Don't know if anyone watched Slammiversary tonight, but Raven won the second ever King Of The Mountain Match after Jeff Jarrett was arrested earlier in the night. New DOA, Larry Zbysko lifted Raven's suspension and put him in the match. Raven won the match and finally claims the NWA world title!

Looks like he lost the skirt too.

Even though TNA doesn't have a TV deal right now, tonight's show was awesome and hopefully they are able to keep it up.

EDIT:

Trinity is the hottest thing I have ever seen.

Not a bad show at all; got better as it went along.

Main event was fun, if, honestly, kind of a mess. I was half expecting Jarrett to run in at the end and somehow end up winning the belt.

Match of the Night was the 3-way X Division title match. I was amused when Daniels was all like, "well, how about if I give Trinity the Angels Wings, huh? How do you like THAT?" and Sabin's all like, "yeah, I'm pretty sure I don't care."

Samoa Joe looked pretty good; I've seen very little of him before this. Shelley's new "any move you have, I can counter it" schtick could work out pretty well for him, even if it did no good against the -- I hate to say -- increasingly-dissapointing Shocker.

Are they actually going to give Shark Boy a push to try and cash in on Disney lawsuit publicity?

I'd like to see more Delirious.

How about Samoa Joe? A hell of a debut in TNA for that guy.

Hmm -- I wonder, though, how he'll do against guys like Abyss or Monty or, I don't know, Billy Gunn -- guys who he can't really slap around like that.

I've seen very little of his stuff -- has anyone here seen much of him working with guys more his size? How's that work for him?

So much for that huge deal that TNA made about AJ Styles winning the World Title last month.

As far as Raven goes, he deserves a chance to carry the strap. Too bad it was about 2 years too late.

I haven't followed TNA too closely, so maybe I'm wrong, but from what I've seen and heard about Raven, it just seems like the ship sailed a long time ago as far as Raven being NWA Champion. I've never seen what other people see in Raven, though that's probably because I never had access to ECW when he was there. I guess I don't really have a problem with this, except it was foolish to move the strap onto AJ Styles as a transitional champ but not really treat it as such.

Raven has been milking the ECW version of him since moving to WCW. His matches with Saturn and Kanyon and Benoit and DDP were good stuff. But his WWE stint never took off, and his TNA tenure has highlighted his ability to put over guys by taking a beating.

His greatest and best effort to be something other than a ECW rerun was his genius WCW "what a mark" angle with Kanyon. That was a character with a lot more personality.

I like the idea of Raven but not so much the execution.

So did Raven's win come out of nostalgia for this ECW rebirth trip we've seen of late? With the Rise And Fall of ECW, One Night Stand, and Hardcore Homecoming, ECW's enjoyed a resurgence most recently. One could argue that his title win, after he went back to traditional Raven attire and stopped wearing a kilt is capitalizing on that. Joey Styles himself said that TNA should stop having Raven wear a skirt and give him the world title. And that's what they did.

Joe can adapt his style to work with anybody who isn't Mike Awesome.

Raven's title win really was 2 years too late.

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

I cringe at the thought of having to sit through 40 minutes of Piper's rambling. Seriously, his promos in TNA are bad enough...how is this guy going to connect with a non-wrestling audience?
