That's the first Smackdown I've seen in awhile. An Angle and Benoit match on the same night. That was nice. This was much better than this week's Raw.

I cant buy Taz as a bad ass when he basically looks like my old high schol gym teacher. Buzz cut, short, overweight, and a pissed off look on his face.

He was always an Oompa Loompa with the demeanor of a Vermicious Knid, so it's not like this is anything new.

I thought that was one of the best Chris Benoit promos I've ever seen.

The highlight of the night was getting to hear Paul Heyman scream "GORE! GORE! GORE!". That was sweet music that I haven't heard in a while.

Is this the last comix? Say it ain't so.

It's funny you say that about ECW and the doughnuts. I had read somewhere (Scaia?) that it looked like Mahoney had lost about 30 pounds. Scary.

I think that was just stick-figure Cena waving goodbye to the comix, Pieman.

A Zen riddle for you: If an upper-card wrestler comes out in the middle of a match to lay waste to a couple of cruiserweights a la Scott Steiner in 2001, but that wrestler is Eddie Guerrero, does the Internet make a sound?

You are correct! Pie-Man is very old and didn't actually hear the TV box machine say that Cena went to Raw. CONFOUND IT!

I thought the same thing. I was pissed, but then I'm a London mark. And they did at least give him the plucky "Hey, what's the big idea interrupting my match?" thing. But come on, he's your cruiserweight champion. Let him get *something* in.

At the end, I thought Taz(z) looked like one of those Middle Eastern guys from the propaganda videos I had to watch in the 8th grade. Those guys who dress all in white and cut themselves open and march through town by the dozens.

And that's how you narrate a story.

I had that thought, too. Somewhere out there is a rabid smark caught in a logic feedback loop. “Eddie... destroyed cruiserweights... but it was Eddie... but they were cruisers.... but Eddie.... against cruisers!”

Eventually they’ll find a way to blame HHH for the whole thing, and all will be right in the world.

I am relieved that DEAN feels the same way about Sharmell's hair than I do - kinda lets me know I'm still walking the right path.

I didn't necessarily like whose match they interrupted, but I thought that the whole Eddie segment was awesome. He totally came into the ring during a match and started to cut a promo as if he didn't even see the match going on. For whatever reason, I found that to be so hilarious. And his promo was pretty good.

Benoit main evented Raw and Smackdown in the same week. I wonder who the last wrestler to do that was?

Booker vs Angle was good, but is anyone else tired of seeing the same matches done week after week. It's to the point where with some of these matches, I recognize that it was technically pretty good, but I'm just to the point where I don't care.

Ah, I believe this falls under the IWC "Can a good match come out of this" corollary. Since Rey is still banged up, it stands to reason that Eddie will need someone else to fight for a week or so. Ergo, since Paul London seemed really spunky, it stands to reason that an Eddie/London match could go down next week, and that would be a terrific bout (certainly much better than, say, a hypothetical Steiner/London match).

I enjoyed Smackdown this week, and I have a feeling I'll be liking it more with Benoit permanently on board. Even so, I'm desperately hoping that either Cena gets sent back or they make up for his defection by sending another 2-3 upper mid-card guys to Smackdown to make up for his departure, while Raw gets Cena plus four lower mid-carders they can build up into something (i.e. Haas, Carlito/Morgan, etc.)

"You can look the other way once, and it's no big deal, except it makes it easier for you to compromise the next time, and pretty soon that's all your doing; compromising, because that's the way you think things are done. You know those guys I busted? You think they were the bad guys? Because they weren't, they weren't bad guys, they were just like you and me. Except they compromised... Once." -- Jack Bauer

I totally agree with you 100%. If they give London a chance to get a little bit of redemption against Eddie next week, he could show that he's not just a heavyweight wrestler whipping boy. Maybe Rey makes the save after Chavo interferes?

Was that not a nasty looking bump that Haas took or what?

Frazetta would paint that hair Deja Thoris, and you KNOW it.

Oh the Frazetta documentary is AWWWWWESOME. I always thought he was a British guy. I didn't know that he was from New York and hung out with the Mad magazine guys as a teenager.
