Okay, kids...Smackdown's taping and the Insider had quick spoilers. I know CRZ frowns on spoiling the whole thing (and I don't feel like doing so), so here I'll reveal the guy who's headed to Smackdown.

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.

And more awesome.

"He is the most overrated piece of crap in the league. He bitched and whined after he got his ass beaten in New England last year, so the NFL changed the rules. Then he got his ass beaten in New England again. Every year he's the top MVP candidate. Every year he's supposed to be the best. Every year he's going to carry the Colts to the Super Bowl. And every single year he goes to New England and gets his ass beaten. And his brother's a whiny little bitch." -A friend of mine, on Peyton Manning

Response hidden.

Very, very wise move. Sure, he's not the superstar with the marks that Cena is, but he's a big enough name to make an impact. More importantly, however, he has a fresh round of opponents. It's incredibly depressing that his last RAW match was against Snitsky, but as long as we get another Angle/Benoit match (before or if Angle gets drafted by RAW) I'll be a happy man.

Here are the rest of the results, courtesy of PWInsider.com:

Dark Match:

Rene Dupree pinned Trevor Rhodes.

Velocity:

WWE United States champion Orlando Jordan pinned Hardcore Holly with his feet on ropes.

Chavo Guerrero pinned Funaki with a rollup and handful of tights.

Danny Basham pinned Nunzio. Spike Dudley hit the ring and tried to hit the Dudley Dog on Basham, but he was tossed over the top to the floor. The Bashams cut a promo saying that "tomorrow night" they would destroy ECW.

WWE Tag Team champions MNM defeated Scotty Too Hotty and Shannon Moore.

Smackdown:

Smackdown opened up with Teddy Long in the ring, discussing the loss of WWE Chmapion John Cena. He said that the championship situation would be decided after the end of the draft. JBL came to the ring and demanded to be handed the WWE championship. Long announced that their draft pick was Chris Benoit. JBL told Benoit that he's seen him win championships all over the world, but he says that the only thing he holds against Benoit was wrestling for ECW. He ran down ECW, setting up Benoit vs. JBL for later in the evening. JBL tried to hit Benoit. Benoit ducked under, then hit a German suplex and locked on the Crippler Crossface, but JBL ran from the ring.

Carlito pinned Charlie Haas with a handful of tights. Haas did a dive over the top but caught his foot and took a scary bump similar to Lita's on Raw a few months ago. Matt Morgan hit an F-5 on Hardcore Holly.

WWE Cruiserweight champion Paul London vs. Akio was interrupted in under a minute by Eddie Guerrero who laid both out and cut a promo on Rey Mysterio.

Booker T pinned Kurt Angle in what was said to have been a great match. Kurt Angle told Tazz before the match that he wanted an answer tonight before the end of Smackdown whether he would join Kurt Angle against ECW this Sunday or not.

After losing, Angle sat in the corner of the ring for a long time. He went outside and grabbed a chair. Angle went to Tazz and said he wanted an answer or he was going to sit next to Tazz all night until he got one. He then hit Tazz with a stiff microphone shot, busting him open. Tazz went to the back. Paul Heyman replaced him on commentary.

JBL fought Chris Benoit to a no contest after ECW and the Cabinet hit the ring. Benoit locked JBL in the crossface and the Cabinet stormed the ring. Tommy Dreamer, Rhyno, and the Dudley Boyz made the save. Kurt Angle, Carlito, and Matt Morgan hit the ring. Tazz's music hit (the place went insane). Tazz, Balls Mahoney, and Axl Rotten hit the ring. Team Extreme cleaned house on the WWE crew and celebrated to end the show.

All I can say is this looks like a damn fine Smackdown. I wanna see the pop that Tazz gets.

I concur, that looks like a very good show. RAW had some good angles to book end the show but no quality wrestling. This Smackdown show has some good angles and at least two promising matches (Benoit/JBL and Angle/Booker). Carlito vs Haas could be good too depending on when Haas took the header. He almost killed himself last week too. Somebody must be afraid of getting cut.

It happened right near the end. Everybody gasped, and Nick Patrick (I think it was him refereeing) ran to the ropes to see if he was okay, and Haas suddenly popped back up and yelled out to let everyone know he wasn't hurt. The match was way too short, though, and it seemed like they might have ended it quickly after the dive.

While it's just a guy going back to SD, it's probably for the best for him, I mean, it wasn't like he was ever gonna get another title shot on RAW, as unfortunate as that is.

At least he did get to hold the top championship, and I was able to watch it...I'm glad for both.

Yeah, but since Benoit went to Raw the entire dynamic of SmackDown's changed. Not to mention the fact that he recieved the biggest push of his career on the other show. He may have been there less than two years ago, but the current circumstances couldn't be mor edifferent from then.

Plus, he leaves Raw with a winning record over HHH.

And say what you will, but anything that gets me another dose of Angle vs. Benoit is fine by me.

Keep in mind that Benoit might not even be on Smackdown at the end of the draft due to trades and such. Though I think its a good move since Smackdown was basically gutted after Wrestlemania last year. I hope this change is permanent. Benoit was growing stagnant on RAW and hopefully this change will do him some good.

That's what I'm excited about. Give these two twenty minutes against each other on every smackdown PPV, and I will gladly give them my $35.

But considering Angle's declining physical condition, is he still able to put on the type of great match with Benoit that everyone would be having high expectations for ?

Erhm...Wrestlemania 21, Angle vs Shawn MIchaels proved to me that he still can go. Make that GO!

I like the draft lottery pick. Indeed it's a whole new dynamic than 18 months ago. He is now the guy that gets a constantly huge pop, no matter what he does or who he fights. If they can another big name (someone like HBK) to the Smackdown roster as well I think all will be well.
And we'll see how/where the titles end up, but Long's statement indicate that the final word hasn't been said yet.

I'm must be the only one but I thought the Angle vs. HBK match was overrated. However, I still think Angle can go, he's been having great matches with Booker and Booker isn't on Benoit's level as far as wrestling. I like the move because of all the young guys on Smackdown. With Cena (assuming he's coming back), Carlito, Morgan, MNN, Haas, Orlando Jordan, Bashams, etc you have a lot of young guys who could use an experienced wrestler to help them have good matches. And in addition to being able to do something good with Angle at any given time he can also put on a great match with Eddie at any time. As well as Mysterio, and he and Booker have a good history of matches too.

If speculation of HBK is going to Smackdown is true then that's another matchup for Benoit. I know they've wrested before but it was never really a one on one feud but part of the three way feud with Triple H.

Plug HBK into a Triple Threat with Angle and Benoit and I think that could headline a few dozen PPV's.

I'd just like to add that nothing has made me look forward to SmackDown more than the prospect of hearing Tazz's theme, one of the best ever. If he comes out with the draped towel and the fog, forget it, I'm cheering like a child.

Ooh, I'd really like to see a lengthy Benoit-Carlito feud. Carlito seems like a quick learner and I bet Benoit could really help him step up his game in the ring. It's a natural feud -- you can imagine Carlito thinking Benoit to be somewhat less than cool. And if Carlito comes out on top in the end, it'd give him a lot of legitimacy and a lot to brag about.

If only it was the No Sleep Till Brooklyn/War Machine mix he used in ECW. The WWE version of his music was, less than impressive.
