CHICAGO -- Cubs pitcher Mark Prior left Friday's game in the fourth inning after being hit in the right elbow by a line drive hit by Colorado's Brad Hawpe.
X-rays on Prior's elbow were negative, Cubs trainer Mark O'Neal said, but a source with the team said later Friday an MRI revealed a "slight" fracture. The Cubs will continue to evaluate Prior's injury to determine how much time he will miss.
Sure, that may just be a "slight" fracture now, but if they don't give it every chance to heal they could be risking a Dave Dravecky type incident. I'm not surprised to see Prior on the DL...it'll be interesting to see if the usual critics are able to spin this and blame it on Dusty Baker like I'm sure at least some are wanting to do.
I hate the Cubs. I love the Cubs. I hate myself for loving the Cubs.

I know I haven't been exactly a great guy. I've done some things in the past. I'm not exactly sure why you feel the need to punish me through the Cubs but why do you have to bring down all the other Cubs fans for my sins, though? I mean, the Bartman thing was bad enough for us, but now you're just rubbing salt in the wound. First you make Zambrano talk to his brother too much on the net, and now Prior. Prior was looking great, and now you've got to take that away from us too. I just don't understand what you've got against me (and all the other Cubs fans).

"Oh, I'm a sad little man? I've thrown a bloody kettle over a pub...what have you done?"
This really sucks to hear and a couple of my co-workers are already wailing in agony over this latest setback. With Prior, Wood, and Zambrano and Derek Lee hitting his stride, there was a real chance the Cubs could have made the big dance this year. Without the aforementioned pitchers, though, it looks like the Cubs are destined for the basement instead.
The really sad thing is, before all these injuries hit, there was a real chance for a Cubs/White Sox World Series this year. So much for that idea.
This is just more proof that anyone who ever contended that the Red Sox were cursed worse than the Cubs are is a complete fucking idiot. I wish I could say that God was just making you guys wait for the centennial, but even that seems like wishful thinking at this point. But then again, I'm the moron who picked the Astros to face the Yankees in the World Series this year, so what do I know...
smark/net attack Advisory System Status is: Elevated (Downgraded from High; April 4, 2005) Batista & John Cena represent instant upgrades over their predecessors as world champions. However, there's still a general state of backlash around Cena and a specific state over the way he won (however misguided it may be), and the usual tag/cruiserweight complaints persist. The rematches should be interesting, however...

No, the really sad thing is, so far this season we were spared the "once our pitching is healthy we are going to win it all" talk. But alas, we couldnt make it to Memorial Day before having to hear it yet again. BTW, the Cubs weren't going to beat the Cards for the Central title, and most likely wouldnt finish in the wild card spot either.
BUT, I am sure there is plenty of room on the White Sox bandwagon if you want to climb on.
Oh come on! The Cubs aren't cursed. Did you watch the play, the WHOLE play. After bouncing off Prior pitching arm the ball went straight to Aramis Ramirez who caught the ball for the out. That's luck right there.

Yeah. I moved and it still my fault.
Look, Chicago has Pizza that is stuffed, it has one of the best greek Food joints in the world (Dinah's), it has a great view, it has a neat lake and people who don't get pissed off at you when you say "hi" to 'em.
Apprently, we don't need a winning baseball team. Or at least, that's my story and I am sticking to it.
Here's the really bad part: I was up in chicago last week, went down to Wrigley and was going to the game but all the tickets under $35 were sold out, so I watched it on TV at the Cubby Bear (the beer was cheaper too).
Everyone acted just like we have here when it happened. Psychic.

I'll take one out of three of those. You can decide which one.
The onyl thing I'll say is that at least this one isn't Dusty's fault. Prior, unlike Wood isn't a creature of poor mechanics. He's just been unlucky in his career thus far.

Maybe if you stopped blaming Steve Bartman for the fact that your team couldn't catch the freaking ball your karma would be a little better?
I don't think so, they'll probably get somebody from the Reds... my thing is that Gammons went off on Weaver, but the Mondesi thing just sorta leaked out now...hmm.
