After watching Episode 4 again a burning question must be answered.
If Obi Wan and Yoda and vader all dissapeared after they were killed because of their connection to the force and their learned ability to become immortal in the force, why is it that when Obi Wan and Luke find the sandcrawler that had been attacked by stormtroopers all thats left of the "dead" Jawa's are their robes?

Also after watching EP4 this morning when Obi Wan goes into the cantina and heads to the bar you can see that he's talking to someone at the bar when Chewbacca approaches him and starts a conversation. That would seem that Chewie might have recognized him.

OK this is some fairly random answers to previous questions.
1. Why didn't Chewie recognize Obi Wan? Even if they knew each other there is no evidence that Wookies don't suffer from the common human issue of "they all look alike to me". Chewie is easy to keep track of in 4-6 because he is the only one. In 3 with a couple thousand Wookies he far more blended into the group. Also it had been 20 years.
2. The Mitochondrian things was stupid. Saying,"wow that's more than even Master Yoda" doesn't matter to anyone really. Fine we get it Anakin and then Luke are AWESOME. No need for Lucas to even more beat it into our heads how much they rock.
3. Palpatine being Anakin's father does explain the whole virgin mother thing but it was still stupid and I don't think that was what Lucas was going for. He went way overboard in TPM to make us think of Anakin as a cute innocent kid. To me it seems more like extreme fan wanking than any other answer.

My guess is that out in the desert those lil' Jawa fellows are WAAAAAAAAAAAY down the food chain when they're unarmed.

OK, so if my memory serves me correctly: three Jedi survive after Episode 3: Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Bail Organa. Yet, in Episode 4, (once again, if memory serves), Bail isn't mentioned. Any idea on that...or was Bail even a Jedi? I am very curious to know about that.

Bail is not a Jedi. He's a politician. That's why the clone troopers at the temple didn't kill him after Order 66 was given.

Because that is not all that is left of them. C3P0 is plainly seen carrying Jawa bodies into a big pile where Obi wan and Luke burn them. It makes no sense to burn robes.

Vader didn't disapear after he died. Luke burned his body in the Jedi funeral tradition.

And speaking of Episode III, I just got back a couple of hours ago from seeing it. My reaction; eh. Better than I and II but a level below ROTJ. Not as good as the 1st Star Wars and no where near The Empire Strikes Back.

But did Luke burn the body, or just the suit? Because it would seem weird that he would put the mask back on his father before burning him, although I guess it would also be weird to put together an empty suit... Either way, I go with "Luke burnt only the suit" because Anakin WAS with Yoda and Obi-Wan, so I have to assume that his body disappeared at some point like their's did.

Not meaning to mix religion with science fiction (although Star Wars is in fact a religion to some) perhaps Luke seeing Obi Wan, Yoda, and Anakin at the end of it all was the same as seeing an angel or something like that?

I wish I could go back and quote people but this thread is so long I don't have the patience to go through them all again.

Someone brought up how R2 was not mind wiped and actually knew Obi Wan and therefore knew where to go and all that. Not only that, but when Luke and the droids meet Ben, Obi says "hello little friend". At the time you think it's a warm greeting from a nice old man, but now you know they were indeed friends. I thought that was pretty cool. R2 was actually a great character. If you think about it he was with Anakin from very early on all the way until the heel turn. Then was with Luke his entire training. He knows both Vader and Luke probably better than anyone, in fact he might know what's going on throughout all 6 movies better than anyone. Of course this brings up the question that was brought up very early in this thread and I don't think was ever answered. Shouldn't R2 and Yoda know each other? It didn't seem like R2 recognized Yoda on Dagobah in episode IV, not only that but he seemed very annoyed by him. Now you can explain Chewie not recognizing Obi because maybe all humans look the same, or because he's aged. But Yoda is Yoda, you would recognize him.

Also someone said that it would've visually looked better if Obi and Anakin had different colored light sabers. I don't think so. First of all it's kind of symbolic because it's as if they are saying these two guys are on the same side, almost like brothers, but are fighting each other. Also it's a historic moment because it's the only saber fight between two people with the same color.

I have to say it might have been cheesy but I love the last scene when Owen and Beru are holding Luke and looking into the sunset because it just screams "A New Hope".

All this talk about stupid continuity issues seems to show just how much this movie was geared to the geek percentile. I was bored to tears. How about just giving us a fun movie? This must be what regular wrestling fans feel like when Vince starts booking to the smarts.

So you want the third part of a six part story to not tie in to the other five parts? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. If you wanted a movie that didn't tie in to other movies than you shouldn't have gone to see Star Wars EPISODE 3.

Were Obi Wan and Chewbacca ever in the same scene? I can't recall one. Therefore, why would you assume they would have knowledge of each others existence?

For that matter, were Yoda and R2 ever in the same scene?

The rationale is that, because Chewbacca was standing behind Yoda while he presided over a Jedi Council meeting as a hologram - one in which Obi-Wan was present - that Chewie should've recognized him, despite him being twenty years old and the fact that he got a cursory glance at him as one of twelve two-inch-high Jedi holograms. (See, at this point, all the good plot holes have been taken and people have to really stretch to find something new to complain about.)

R2 and Yoda were never in a scene together either but R2 was with Anakin from the time he was a boy all the way until he turned into Vader. So at some time you'd think they'd run into each other, at the very least you'd think R2 would know who Yoda is through Anakin.

Like it's been said R2 was with Anakin since he begin training, so you have to beleive that he would at least recognize the name Yoda, which may be why he was annoyed, maybe R2 had visions of Luke training and turning evil just like Anakin.

R2 was actually with Padme since the time of Phantom Menace (he's the droid in her starfighter at the very beginning). And Padme and Anakin had been completely separated during that time.

So, R2 was never around Anakin during his initial Jedi training. Now, it's possible that after Attack of the Clones, when R2 became Anakin's "co-pilot", he got to know the Jedi better. In fact, the movies never explained why Anakin's droid 3PO suddenly lived with Padme and Padme's droid R2 suddenly started hanging out with Anakin - though I hear it's in a book somewhere that they "exchanged droids" - if you know what I mean.

But, since Yoda was never a known Jedi pilot, it's very possible that R2 and Yoda never actually crossed paths.

It only makes sense for them to trade droids. 3-P0 is better suited to a political/dimplomatic environment, and R2, being an astromech droid, should stay with the pilot. Besides, even if Anakin felt a protocol droid would suit him on whatever negotiations he was undertaking, he could never fit him in the Jedi Starfighters without disassembling him first.

As for R2 and Yoda never crossing paths, they did in the Clone Wars mini-series, for whatever that is worth.

In what was possibly the last episode of Law & Order, we see an excellent episode that showcases some good character work. I HIGHLY recommend people watch this if you haven't yet. The actual plot was tense and effective.
