I thought that was a rather lackluster show. Why have the finalists sign bland pop ballads noone knows after all of the previous shows had the Idols singing (mostly) songs everyone knows?

Having said that, I thought Bo was superior last night. Carrie seemed to me to be trying WAY too hard on her first two songs, perhaps feeling pressure of having to compete with Bo. While she was singing her first song, I remarked to Mrs. JJD that I wished they'd been singing each other's songs, and Bo proved me correct when he did his third performance.

Isn't that the eventual winner's first single? I thought they did that every season.

The show was absoluteley lackluster.

That being said, I think Carrie won it last night as far as the performances go. I was not particularly impressed with Bo last night; a lot of that had to do with the "originals" which I'm certain were just crappy songs in the catalog of the record company waiting for an Idol contestant to make them superhits. The songs did not fit the style that fits Bo, nor was it anything that we are accustomed to having Bo sing. Even his performance of Vehicle last night wasn't anywhere close to the first one.

Carrie wins tonight.

I complained to another Liberal friend about some of the Left’s tone concerning the 2004 elections. I thought it insulting to hear those “red state” voters caricatured as red-necked rubes. My friend asked, “Well, don’t you think that people who live in large urban areas, who travel and read and speak other languages are better able to make informed choices?” It turns out it is superiority, not familiarity, which breeds contempt. - Pat Sajak

I thought Bo's performance of "Vehicle" sealed the deal.

On a side note, I found the webiste of Bo's band. Their music is pretty good.

I would like to thank the fast forward button on my VCR for making this a somewhat watchable show. It finally clicked with me last night - Bo sounds like Curtis Stigers from his first 2 early albums - neither of the original songs were great but people won't be voting for him based on last night's performance anyway. Carrie finally showed a somewhat human crack in her robotic veneer when she allowed emotion to creep into her final song especially during the final power note and with the tears when she finished. Simon was probably right in that she did just enough to win. I doubt very much that I will be clicking through the spend page here at the W to get to Amazon to buy either one of their CD's.

I'll say that Carrie pulls off the victory tonight (though I will be watching the 2 hour LOST Finale instead)

It will be Bo. Two women have won already and they don;t want this to look like a contest where women will always win. Bo to win, Carrie to have the more successful career.

I also thought it was a pretty lackluster show, JJD. I think Bo was slightly better than Carrie last night, but I don't think last night's performances will have anything at all to do with the outcome. People who are voting at this stage are voting for their favorite no matter how they sounded.

And tonight: two hours to reveal the winner? I will be watching two hours of Lost whilst my VCR records Idol. After Lost, I will watch the last two minutes of Idol to see who won.

Since I believe the show hasn't aired everywhere yet...

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
The last I looked at votefortheworst.com, they were pimping Carrie as the worst (after Anthony was voted off), so that might explain some of the votes.

I'm a little ticked that boring ass Carrie won, but the AI contract looks pretty crappy anyways, so maybe it's good that Bo didn't win.

Had the finale been a week ago, no doubt Bo wins...but he didn't look comfortable apart from "Vehicle."

Clive Davis has already expressed interest in working with him, so neither of them really needed to win, but she'll just have the AI mahcine behind her, much like Kelly, Ruben, and Fantasia all have.

I know personally, that I couldn't pull for Bo, just because I can't stand the southern rock vibe, and maybe that spread throughout...and I just hope that I don't ever have to hear "Sweet Home Alabama" again.

We changed channels as soon as "LOST" hit the screen in the finale and caught the confetti and the final notes of her victory song.

It will be interesting to see if 19 Entertainment can capitalize on the popularity of both Carrie & Bo and get their respective CD's out in a timely fashion. I don't think either one of them has enough talent, charisma and staying power in this what have you done for me lately flash in the pan 15 minutes and counting society of ours to make a splash in 6-8 months if the AI voting public has to wait.
