Is anyone starting to like the Giant's chances of going all the way this year? Yeah it's barely 10 games into the season, but they have been kicking all sorts of ass lately. I can't remember them ever getting off to this good of a start, and that win last night was a MAJOR slap in the face to the Brewers. Dusty gets an out call reversed, and Bonds hits a titanic 3 run homer. SWEET SASSY MOLASSY it doesn't get any better than that!
Anyway, I think their starting pitching is a lot stronger now that Shawn "A Beautiful Mind" Estes is gone, their line-up is highly improved by adding Bell, and Sanders will eventually come around too. Plus, Shinjo has been doing a better job getting on base than Bernard or Calvin Murray ever did, and he adds a lot of fan favorite personality to the team too. Remember, this is a team that has been RIGHT THERE year after year--will this finally be enough to push them over the top?

I'm more impressed by Izzy becoming like the 30th guy (give or take a couple) since 1900 to strike out the side on 9 pitches. When he's on, he's filthy and impossible to hit. Unfortunately for the Cards, the easly inferred corollary is also true...
That corollary will rear its ugly head before long.
Edit: damn, I wish I could type when i'm half asleep.

"somewhere down in suburbia it ain't right"
That's true.... it didn't exactly dawn on me that Jason did that on 9 pitches. That was awesome. And impressive.
The cards were an ok team before Big Mac. Then we brought him in and he decided he liked playing for us. He was the heart and soul for awhile.
We built a good team and made a run at it. Unfortunately he got hurt and it created a hole in our team. Big Mac is Big Mac. A legend and a HOF'r.
We had a good foundation built. Morris rejoined the club and we picked up a couple good pitcher (or brought them up) last year. But nobody could beat Shilling and Johnson. Morris gave it one hell of a try but Shilling was just a better pitcher.
This year we added Martinez which should help fill that hole from Mac's injury. And with the showing of our jack of all trades marrero things should be good. Kile is healthy now.... stephenson is back and we have a dominant closer.
I think we have a great team. A returning rookie of the year... a healthy Drew.... a strong pitching staff....
This could be a big year for the cards. Obviously we need to stay healthy and also avoid some bad managerial decisions. I may knock larussa's choices sometimes.... but the team has won the division three years in a roll i believe (at least the playoffs three years in a roll). cant question that.
I am the JOBBER TO THE STARS. You better remember that.
