The Dalek episode was pretty excellent! Everyone died! Christopher Ecclestone convinced me the Doctor'd gone insane! Oh look Rose has boobs and they bounce when they run! DALEK BROKE YOUR FACE.

Simon Pegg in a few hours. No idea if this is going to be even remotely good. Also betting the new guy dies in the Untitled Episode - which now has a title but I won't spoil it because I'm a nice person.

Willing to bet many dollars that Rose says "I love you Doctor" and the Doctor turns into David Tennant and wacky hijinx ensue.

SO WHAT THE FUCK

I feel bad. All six episodes have been (ahem) made available to me but I've only made time to watch the first - which I liked! So I really should have been watching as soon as was possible! Maybe the UK people will have something to say, even though we're not talking about Silvervision DVDs or whatever

When it's not available in the US by any other means than piracy, is it really piracy?

You should watch them all. Well, you should watch The End of the World, Unquiet Dead, and Dalek. Aliens of London and World War Three are optional as fuck but they do redeem Mickey the Idiot Boyfriend as a worthwhile character.

Plus he took over the whoisdoctorwho.co.uk fake website that used to be run by Clive in the first episode! Same bad formatting and crappy Photoshop and everything.

Oh man the Dalek episode was BADASS. Eccleston's first face-off with it was friggin' awesome, from the initial "oh fuck" look to blind terror to prickish gloating to pure painful sorrow. Coulda done without the hilariously out-of-whack American accents the supporting characters were sporting, but you can't win 'em all. I'm having trouble deciding between this and Unquiet Dead as the season high-point so far-I think I'd have to give the edge to this just for Eccleston's absolute bossness. Shame he's only gonna be around for another few shows-hopefully they'll do something whacky with the regeneration. I'm liking the thought of having Rose admit her love for the Doc juuuust before he turns, and when he comes out all weedy and eccentric (because, let's face it, that's the kinda Doctor Tennant should play) she's all "what the FUCK?! I can't get hot over you NOW, dawg".

And, as Paul said, only a few more hours to PEGG~! playing evil. Can this series get any more fanboy?

Fun factoid: all those wacky American accents? They all came from Americans. Everyone except Diana the publicist, anyway, who's played a British lady on an American show and an American on a British show.

These are the terrible nerdy things you pick up on gallifreyone.net. I might be getting laid illegally as a result.

I know shit about David Tennant other than he's in Casanova, which I haven't seen being an American with basic cable. A few friends went the Google Image Search route and found a bunch of pictures of him, and he looks different in all of them. What's his deal, other than he keeps saying he wants the Doctor to wear a kilt?

The Doctor wearing a kilt? I'm in love.

Here's an interesting little conspiracy theory piece about Christopher leaving as the Doctor. Of course, Tennant was made the Doctor, so who knows.

http://www.twistandshoutcomics.com/twistblog/
For the last month, publicity for the new series of Doctor Who from the BBC has been everywhere. Tabloid, broadsheet, news programmes, anything to mention the show as fans have finally been promoted to positions within UK media where they can call the shots.

This week, the BBC announced that after the viewing figures of the first episode, that a second series and a Christmas special has been commissioned. The first episode thrashed the ratings-winning Ant And Decs Saturday Takeaway over on ITV - even with David Beckham guesting, the worlds most famous playing footballer.

But no sooner has that hit the stands than the star Christopher Eccleston announces that hes quit the show and wont be in the second series, and the producers reveal theyre talking to David Tennant to take the role. The character of the Doctor can regenerate, changing his appearance, which had allowed its longevity as a series concept.

Eccleston is being lambasted for taking a role he wouldnt stick to, the BBC lambasted for not agreeing longer contracts, and Doctor Who is all over the front pages again.

At the exact moment Ant And Dec announce theyll have Prime Minister Tony Blair MP as a guest on the show.

What few people have noticed is that the Eccleston announcement is itself a spoiler announcement of that spoiler announcement.

The production team never had the intention to renew Christopher Ecclestons contract past the Christmas special. They have an option to renew Ecclestons contract, they have decided not to. They *want* a regeneration, to sell that integral concept of the series to the new generation of viewers. This has been Russell T Davies plan all along. Eccleston is playing along. And the BBC are continuing to set the agenda for entertainment stories in the UK right now, and Doctor Who is again on all the front pages.

Mentioning David Tennant is a red herring - he will appear in the Christmas Special but not necessarily taking the role of The Doctor after the Eccleston look regenerates. The BBC may do a bait and switch to surprise the viewers. Bill Nighy and Chiwetel Ejoifor are both up for the lead. Either way, Tennant, Chitewel or Bill will appear at the end of the Christmas Special, and then into the second series.

Mentioning David Tennant now is designed to help sell the BBC1 showing of the series Casanova, written by Russell T Davies, featuring Tennant in the central role. Beautifully written and Tennant is a star turn in the show.

The BBC are playing with the media in a way they rarely have before, with Doctor Who and the newspapers are willing to play along as they get excellent content, news, features and opinion column matter. Expect more as the Dalek episode approaches, and a lot more before the last two Dalek War episodes.

Four DVDs will be released for the first new TV series, in May, June, July and August with a DVD box set of the series with lots of features in October.

Yeah, that theory was booted around a bit for awhile, but Tennant's been solidly confirmed in the British press-as well as on the BBC-as the new Doctor. I kinda buy into the idea that Eccleston's one-series run was agreed upon a long long time ago, tho.

Saw this last night (yes, three movies this week) and it was just OKAY. The gist of the story is four friends get talked into exploring an unmarked myan temple by a vacationing German guy.
