Hey, off topic, but since we're talking about Daivari, I remember like seven months ago there was a guy wrestling as a jobber on either Heat or Velocity who had the magic carpet gimmick, and I remember he was about the same size as Daivari. Does anyone know if that was him? I'm just kind of curious now, if they were using him before they called him up for real.

I believe he fought Tommy Dreamer on HEAT once.

Correction: no, you know, wrestler known or namedropped by anyone could ever be on, you know, steroids.

For serious, I am not pointing the sanctimonious finger of evil steroids at anyone. I'm saying it's dumb to point the sanctimonious finger of evil steroids at anyone because you'd be pointing at practically everybody. But if you want to go by the mantra of assume literally nothing and freak right out at the libel every time someone says that Edge, Lita, Daivari, or somebody else in the company besides Spike Dudley uses steroids, I guess that's your prerogative, but all I'm trying to say is it's not really the huge shocking deal a lot of people want to make it out to be in light of the demonizing of those lying cheating stealing baseball players.

Well over at wweshop.com, the only piece of Matt Hardy merchandise left, his ''Caution'' shirt, has catapulted up to No. 6 on he best sellers list and I believe that the Hardys book has shifted a considerable amount over the last month too on Amazon.

You Are Correct, Sir [TheCubsFan.com]

Oh, and I think nowdays everyone's split between two camps when it comes to the 'roids. Either everyone does steroids so when somebody gets caught you can shout "Typical!", or nobody does 'em and when somebody gets caught you can shout "I am appalled!"

Either way, until Vince has some kind of incentive to tell his boys & girls not to use 'em, a blind eye will continue to be turned.

I don't think that would have mattered at all. The guy's not keeping it together over this. Yes, he's the one that was hurt (along with Edge's wife) but he's also the one who's keeping it going in the public by posting on his site, doing interviews about it, and now asking fans to keep chanting at them during live shows just to piss them off.

I don't think that he was fired because of any possible 'altercation' between him and Edge. Yeah, that was probably an option that they knew it might come to, but I after seeing what he was like with anyone who'll put a microphone in front of him, I think they realized that they could never trust this guy to be in front of a live camera or a live mic ever again. Can you imagine if they hadn't fired him, and instead brought him back and let him go on tv? How long until he starts bringing this up on live tv or in front of a live crowd (if he is on Smackdown)? Why should they have to risk something like that, when he's already been going out of his way to try to make this as public as possible.

Matt wasn't fired because they didn't have much to do with him, or because he might fight Edge or something. He was fired because he made this so public that fans chant during any Lite or Edge segment. What could have been another one of 'those' stories that really only we talk about once in a while has now become something that everyone knows about. Yes, he was the innocent one here, but that doesn't give him a free pass to act any way that he wants, regardless of what it does to the business that he's working for.

Matt's not proving to the WWE that they made a mistake, he's just proving to them that they made the right decision in how to best deal with him.

I have a deceant job. I get paid every other week and have money one week and am broke the next, but I am comfortable. However, if I found out that someone that I was working with was sleeping with my girlfriend I'd knock the shit out of him. Fuck being comfortable, fuck the paycheck and hell ... fuck reason. Edge and Lita might be to blame for this whole thing, but Vince fired the right guy in terms of keeping the peace.

Yes, being pissed off and acting on those emotions like a child is so much worse than acting like an adult and commiting adultery/causing immense emotional pain to another human being.

What's so childish about it?

* When he talks about it on radio shows, it's because it's what the hosts are asking him about. It's the big story everyone wants to hear, and like some people have said, it's more interesting than anything they're doing in WWE currently as far as storylines go. He likely wants to keep his name out there as much as possible for when he goes to the next orginization he winds up in. If having to give his side of the story as to what happened is what allows him to do it, why shouldn't he?

* He hasn't been "mean" or overly immature about it. It's not like he's going on his site posting all these secrets about what Lita does in the sack or releasing dirty pictures of her or giving out her cell phone number. The worst thing he's done is call Edge "feces." Ooooh.

Edge's wife seemed kind of nutty to me, but that's not Matt, so I don't hold her ranting against Matt.

* It's only been a little over a month since his release. Is he not allowed to be bitter for at least a LITTLE while? Sure, if he's talking about it a year from now it'll seem pretty whiny, but right now...who could blame him?

From the company’s standpoint, it is. Edge and Lita did not let their personal situations have any impact on the show itself. That was all Matt. He could have asked his friend not to share details early on, or tried to keep his personal business personal. Instead, he fed the story and has turned Lita heel over a shoot angle. And after his release, he's kept it up by encouraging the fans to chant and "Show the WWE they made the wrong choice," thus continuing to affect the company's product.

I feel bad for Matt’s situation, but I don’t blame the company for letting him go after all the problems he's created in the aftermath.

"You screwed Matt," "We want Matt," any variation, are getting tiresome to me. Forget Edge completely for a minute, because those chants are not only distracting and disrespectful to him, but to his opponent. What did Jericho do to have to hear that throughout the match? As for Edge, I get the feeling the "hate" for him is less about Matt leaving as it is for fans who want to show Edge how "smart" they are at matches. Okay, we know you know about the affair and how Matt got a bad deal, just sit back, cheer and boo, just get over it, please.

But they did screw Matt and other they do want Matt. Other they can say whatever they want. Third they (WWE) might even throw up their hands and bring him back. I hope other they chants more just because I want to know what will happen next, and also because Johnny Ace is a fucking moron and this is his receipt for being a dumb son of a bitch.

This "everybody do behave, get me back to equilibrium" directed at Matt and the fans is kind of ridiculous. It happened, it's a fascinating story, it's not going to go away or be erased, and the crowd reaction is one of the many major parts of the story itself, not just an offshoot. Unique and unexpected crowd reactions are part of wrestling and you can't just tell them to stop when you find them bothersome. Otherwise you should be equally upset that people chant "boring" at Chris Masters when they're supposed to be oohing at his feats of strength.

WWE did something crappy and their fanbase across two continents has jumped on it. Now they can deal with the repercussions, and they don't get a "Get Out Of Disruptive Crowd Jail Free" card just because some people are bored by the chants.

Final complaint: the ex post facto justification that says Matt forced the company's hand and they just had to let him go 'cause of all this trouble he caused doesn't hold water, because it places the company in a position of "neutral and consistent arbiter," a status that they are far removed from to a comical degree.

This isn't even a defense of Matt, because he's had some less than stellar, albeit totally understandable, behavior. It's an indictment of dubious arguments.

Okay, admitting beforehand that that I don't really understand every word that you use, I don't think that people are looking at the WWE as being run like a normal Fortune 500 company where everyone wears suits 24hrs a day and plays golf 6 times a week. I don't think that it was a case of them getting rid of Matt because of any fancy, cut and dry corporate policy or anything. These guys have enough of a circus to deal with every day, I just don't think that they wanted to deal with a guy that they probably didn't have anything to do anyways. The guy was 50/50 on being used anyways, and now he's gone and caused a shitload of headaches for the people in charge of deciding whether or not to use him. If he was HBK and this was 1998, it'd be different. But with Matt's place in the pecking order, I can totally understand why they would say "Fuck it" and let him go.

Of course, I very easily could have misunderstood your entire point. Apologies if I did.

I do enjoy the "You screwed Matt" chants now though, to the point where I really look forward to Lita and Edge being on tv just to hear them. I don't know if it was Matt's plan or not, but he is making Edge and Lita a lot more entertaining by encouraging fans to chant. Between the fans chanting (God, I hope they put Edge and Lita together as a big comical 'Fuck You' to all the fans ) and Tyson Tomko making exagerated faces behind Christian, I'm actually looking forward to watching RAW every week. Something that honestly hasn't happened in years for me.

Yikes. Sorry, I shouldn't post when I'm writing a paper at the same time, because then it comes out overwhelmingly tuuuuuuurgid. And ... bitchy.

What I was saying was that the circumstances behind his release aren't just as simple as he screwed up and had to pay the price for what he done, because for one, he had people in power who didn't like him like Johnny Ace who used it as an excuse to get rid of him, and for two, if I tried to come up with a list of wrestlers who've done more detrimental things and didn't get fired, my head would explode. So I don't like the "made his bed and now he has to lie in it" argument like it's that cut and dry, because there's so much more to it. Unless by bed it's only meant a situation where you give people who want to get rid of you an excuse to get rid of you.

It's not the longest yet. The longest one I can remember is the Brock Lesnar quiting thread, which got to 204 posts.

edit: I wrote 207 instead of 204 for some reason.
