Ok lemme start out by saying that im a total dork...That said i gotta tell everyone about a recent purchase of mine. I bought a CB radio. Ok you might be saying, "good to be back in the 70's," or. "why the hell would u want one of those," but seriously its one of the most fun things in the friggin world... In case you dont know what a CB is, its just a simple radio u put in ur car(u can get hand held ones too) that u talk with to anyone who has one too. I bought one on a whim and i have so much fun talking to truckers when i make a freeway trip.. I showed a few of my friends my radio, and now they are totally hooked too. Seriously it sounds stupid, but get a crappy one off ebay and youll have a blast. Truckers have the weirdest damn stories..ok well theres my useless monologue, lemme know what u think...

Maybe a 70's thing, but it's still got a strong subculture. I had one about 10 years back, and it was always fun to listen to these women offer truckers free lodging. As far as spotting police, far more reliable then a radar detector.

Used to talk to truckers and others out of my garage when I lived in Wyoming. Got some people to run to Taco Bell for me. It was awesome.

I used to CB all the time back in the day. I had a dude *ahem* enhance my CB's capabilities and my station would talk for miles and miles. Great fun.

I used to have one back in the late 70's/early 80's when I did a lot of cross country driving. It helped me through a lot boring stretches of Route 80 in Nebraska & Iowa back then. "The Blue Ghost" retired in 1985 when I got a radar detector (because they were the hot new toy). I still get a kick out watching "Smokey & the Bandit" when it comes on AMC.

Damn...my buddy did the same for mine in my '78 T-Bird (whatta boat), and I dunno if I got *that* far. (Of course, I was only running a removable K40 antenna.) Nice! Don't forget to get one w/ a PA function as well...then hide a bullhorn behind your front grill. Awesome way to yell at people!

Whoa...when the hell did I miss that back then? I could've pretended to be a trucker... :-)

Yes, The Thrill, I had a much better antenna on a pole outside my barn.
And YES, I had a bullhorn under the hood of my car and I used to love watching people screech and jump when I squawked at them.

yea dude, i got the PA feature too. I have a pretty fast car, so last week this dude pulled up to the light next to me in an old explorer and peeled out. My friend told me he knew the guy and that he thinks hes like the shit. This was the day after I had put the PA in so i decited to have some fun. I got up right behind him and told him i was the police and to pull over, but i made it sound GOOD, i was freaking myself out. I know this is illegal, but hell, im a teen why the fuck not. So i say that and he runs the red and squeels around the corner down a side street. I thought that was friggin hillarious that he tried running, even though im obviously not a cop, in a friggin Toyota Celica. So hell, i followed him. We went for about 2 miles weaving in and out of streets, so then i broke off and attempted to cut him off and get in front of him. i come down the street and theres no sign of him. Then my friend points out a car parked on the side of the street, and its his. The guy pulled over, turned off his car, and hid there. So i pulled up next to him, said "Thankyou for pulling over" and drove away. It was freakin great. Later we talked to the guy and he was like, "I only drove away cause i knew i could get away from you." HAHAHA.....right

http://www.lorencoleman.com/myakka.html They may be fake, but they're pretty freaky pictures if you ask me, and I've seen a lot of supposed "unknown animal" pictures. DMC
