Torch:

Monty Brown was not at the tapings because he is currently in the midst of a contract dispute with the company. As detailed in yesterday's Keller VIP Audio Update, Brown has signed on with agent Barry Bloom, who proposed a contract renewal for Brown. (Bloom is the agent for Triple H and recently was the agent for Triple H.) TNA officials turned it down and did not even propose a counter offer. Brown had been working recently without a contract, so he is free to sign with anyone. That may explain why he did the job in the six-man tag match at Sunday's Lockdown PPV.

I may be in the minority, but I like the guy. Go get him, Vince.

C'mon, Vince, do us sane people a favor and sign him. Jarrett will look like such an idiot for not giving him the title when he had the chance...

Batista & John Cena represent instant upgrades over their predecessors as world champions. However, there's still a general state of backlash around Cena and a specific state over the way he won (however misguided it may be), and the usual tag/cruiserweight complaints persist. The rematches should be interesting, however...

Well to be fair, Monty Brown had been working without a contract and even before that TNA knew his contract was running out, would you give the belt to a guy who could bolt with your title in hand?

I like Brown and think he has potential to be a huge star. Problem is is that he's one of those guys you have to book correctly or else it just won't work. TNA did a great job of booking him correctly (well, up until his job to Jarrett and subsequent heel turn). I wonder if WWE will be able to handle him the right way or not.

(Bloom is the agent for Triple H and recently was the agent for Triple H.)

This is a great line.

It's been a reoccuring theme since Brown's push took of that WWE was sure to sign him (though probably only to a developmental deal) if TNA let his contract lasped - which makes me wonder why they haven't actually done that yet. I suspect his demands to TNA were reflecting that, and that's why they he didn't get a deal done.

Dear Vince,

Sign him & send him to OVW for some seasoning. This guy has the potential to make you some money.

I like TNA. I hope Brown stays there.

What I mean to say is, I hope Brown stays there and TNA pays him what he's worth and uses him right. It sucks when he's playing sixth-fiddle to JJ, Nash, Billy Gunn and the rest.

For a while there he was the number one (or two, behind AJ) face AND he was "homegrown" talent AND he's still getting better! It seems to me that THAT should be worth A LOT to the Powers That Be -- but if he's working without a contract, he must not mean that much to them. I just don't get it.

C'mon, TNA. Brown has the potential to be one of your anchors for YEARS TO COME. Shitcan X-Pac and open those purse strings.

Monty Brown say hi to Tazz, RVD, and Rhyno. Although who can blame any of them for collecting a nice steady check.

Seems to be a lot like the deal with Abyss. People heard he was walking out over not getting a deal done with TNA and said they thought was all but gone to WWE. That whole mess turned out to be less than aboveboard on the part of TNA management, whose handling of contracts and their renewals has been reported as questionable in multiple instances. Brown may indeed be free to sign anywhere he likes at the moment, but until his signature's verified on a WWE contract I can't take any of the speculation even at face value.

(Disclaimer: I've watched very, very little TNA.)

Given Vince's propensity for pushing exactly the wrong people, particularly at this moment (pushing Heidenreich and Masters while releasing the entire women's division, Rhyno and Hardy), you guys really wanna see one of your favorite TNA guys in WWE right now?

This could be another Abyss deal...we all talk about it and then out of no where he signs a new deal shocks us all. I'll ride this one out and see where he shows up.
