Good opening segment, but I'm afraid WWE is going to pay in the long run for making Batista into a comedy character. Good crowd response to Batista though....Jericho/Grenier was nothing, and it didn'te help that Grenier was halfway onto his back before Jericho reached for his legs to trip him up for the Walls....The backstage segments with Christian were awesome....A classic Hogan interview, complete with Mean Gene. I love it. I'm guessing that segment was taped in America, otherwise I'd be pissed if I were the England fans that Hogan came all that way and didn't even make an appearance in the arena....

William Regal is writing a book? Who next, Val Venis? Seriously though, I bet there are some good, WWE approved stories in there....Good to see the "TWO!!!" tradition carrying overseas....The non-title tag match was decent, and the right guys went over....Hey, they've managed to make Viscera entertaining....Nice to see Val Venis getting some work. I do you perform in a gimmick like that where you get no character advancement and the character, for all intents and purposes, petered out 5 years ago?....

You know what's "embarrassing"? Being Coach's publicist....Nice, random "Batista Fears Headbanger Mosh" sign....Sure sounded like Christian had his supporters during the main event. The match itself made Christian look pretty weak, it seemed....Decent episode of RAW, certainly helped by the Christian and Viscera segments as well as the hot crowd. Can't believe there's a PPV Sunday, though.

"Petered" out, you say?

I think they hired Vince Russo back for a couple hours to write the Trish/Viscera segments.

What a hot crowd. Plenty of love for Captain Charisma tonight. The backstage segments really made the show.

Why spend the money on Russo when you can apparently hire anybody who can watch an old RAW with Mark Henry and Chyna and carbon copy it?

Thank you for putting the thread back on track. Did anybody get a wierd feeling as if the Batista chants were an audio feed or something?

They have the "evil" Arabs win. Going in to a PPV...wait there is a PPV this Sunday...umm where was the build for, talking about Backlash not the matches, this?!?

It all seems to rushed...the matches were good. I thought it was all pretty good to be leading into the PPV after Mania. Anyways...HHH finally getting the heat for a pedigree on Batista.

***EDIT***

Did anybody catch the Pro Wrestling Torch spot?

I liked the show because of the skits, both the Christian/Evolution subplot and the Trish/Vicera date. Could Viscera become the new Rikishi? Signs point to "perhaps."

I think they need to change Batista's wardrobe. Pink ties on coral shirts under gray jackets are bad enough, but his look still smacks of Evolution when he needs his own identity. I do not like the week-spanning JR [dirty term for intimate oral gratification] as it takes the heat away from Big Dave, and this spot could easily have gone to Hurricane to build off his mini-angle with Triple H. Why put over the announcer when you could put over in-ring talent?

Christian owned the crowd and did a great job with the significant workload tonight.

Fun moment when HBK couldn't tear his shirt a la Hogan.

It wa a fun two hours, but there's no way in hell I'm buying the PPV. It's just too small after WrestleMania.

HBK was against tearing his shirt to begin with, for it's against his religion. Funny how he now uses his born-again status to veto storylines, rather than just throw a tantrum and leave for a few weeks.

The tearing of one's shirt is against Christianity? Granted I haven't read the Bible from cover to cover, but I'm pretty sure I would've heard about that one.

Good RAW tonight, although I was tired and missed the main event, dammit.

Tearing a shirt with his likeness and initials on it is against the christian religion?

I'm not sure if this is what he was wearing but you get the idea. Of course, it would seem to be more offensive to stick your name on a cross to begin with but that's just me.

Did anyone by chance catch JR with the Freudian slip dropping a Matt??

During the postmatch Edge/Venis beatdown...he caught himself pretty quick and got back on track, but it cracked me up...

Dunno what to think of the show, not as good as last week, which is bad, since it's the last one before Backlash.

First things first...HBK's latest gimmick shirt (WWE ShopZone) that he wore last night has no cross on it. Behold:

Second...it's not against Christianity to tear one's clothes. However, the Old Testament says that the tearing of one's garments is used to show anguish and/or remorse at one's recognition of one's own disobedience of God...not to show how ready you and your tag-team partner are to take on them evil A-rabs at a PPV. Check it out:

31 Then they got Joseph's robe, slaughtered a goat and dipped the robe in the blood. 32 They took the ornamented robe back to their father and said, "We found this. Examine it to see whether it is your son's robe."

33 He recognized it and said, "It is my son's robe! Some ferocious animal has devoured him. Joseph has surely been torn to pieces."

34 Then Jacob tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and mourned for his son many days.

And I'm digging Batista as basically a more GQ, yet bigger and more bad-ass version of The Rock...and I'll admit to enjoying Viscera/Trish. But damn, between Trish having her back to the camera when she had her, ahem, rack displayed, and Lawler calling out the ringside camera for being on the wrong side of Stacy Kiebler's ring entrance, 'twas not a good night for my WWE photog brethren.

I'm sorry, but even without the bigger, badder or GQ parts how is Batista ANYTHING like the Rock? You CAN'T mean his mic work.

I thought Raw was good and didn't have any particularly bad segments this week. The crowd was hot and that always helps.

Viscera has been interesting in his backstage skits with Trish. Now, the problem is we have to watch him in a PPV match.

It looked like Jericho was portraying the heel this week, but the fans were still showing more support for Jericho while booing Shelton in their interaction.

Christian was "on", as usual, and seemed to have an impressive number of his "peeps" in the English crowd.

My only problem with Raw is the logic, or lack of logic, behind HHH suddenly having so much power on Raw. Are we back to the McMahon-Helmsley era and HHH can just make all the matches and stipulations as he sees fit? Where is Bischoff? First, HHH makes his match last week forcing Jim Ross to wrestle. Now, this week, he appoints a special guest referee and time keeper in the main event match. It would make a lot more sense if Bischoff was still being portrayed as HHH's puppet as he was in the past, but that hasn't been the case for several months.

My "tearing of the shirt" comment was in reference to the fact that lately, HBK has been refusing certain storylines and a heel turn due to his religion. Hence the "Funny how he now uses his born-again status to veto storylines, rather than just throw a tantrum and leave for a few weeks" comment. It was supposed to be a joke but I guess it went down in flames.

I don't think he was saying he didn't like it ... just guessing that it was taped in America. I assumed the same thing, actually.

Looks like HBK is having a blast with this program, though. At first I thought he was subtlely mocking Hogan (especially with his "what ARE you gonna do?" remarks last night) but I think he's just having a helluva good time basking in the glory of Hulkamania. lol.
