Maybe they just decided that there is no interest/money to be made on the womens division beyond Trish Stratus or Lita and felt that Molly wasn't worth the investment. That's not to say I agree with them that there's more to be made on a few bimbos they can trot out there in bikinis or lingerie on Smackdown every week, but with the combination of releases of women wrestlers and another diva search, I can only conclude this is their line of thinking.

Not that I'm happy about it, but if my job was to go out and try to make models look like wrestlers every week, maybe I'd quit too. Women's wrestling had a pretty good run in the WWE for a while there, but it's pretty obvious that the management's not interested in it anymore. Sucks to those of us that actually like women's wrestling, but them, as they say, is the breaks.

Just to chime in here: the wording DEFINITELY sounds like it was an amicable split. I know a lot of people held her in high-esteem, but really, what else was she going to do in the company?

Wow. Within a span of, what, 24 hours three of my favorite wrestlers are now GONE. Color me apathetic about watching the WWE now, after this...hell last night, watching RAW was almost draining. It'll still be on the TV because I'm addicted but....meh...

I've never been one for the indy scene, but it looks more and more like I better learn it.

Damn it. Any more good news for me? William Regal's next, right? Or maybe Booker T?

Unless his friendship with Matt Hardy's gonna cause problems 'Cane's safe as houses. He's a solid fan favourite who shifts a lotta merchandise. And whilst Richards, who's always brought up in these discussions, would seem an obvious choice, he's survived this long. Besides, I doubt they'd fire him now and go through the rigmarole of a one-night contract for the ECW show, when they can just hang onto him for the time being and do as they see fit after they've got what they want from him.

No joke. I'd start wearing lifts in my shoes and concocting a phony family history that included a father and grandfather with wrestling experience.

I thought I heard somewhere that Vince actually likes Stevie Richards, despite the lack of a push? Can't recall where I read that, though.

victoria might be safe as she is rumoured to be the girlfriend of diva trainer Fit Finley. They could keep her to help with whatever crap comes in from the next diva search?

just a thought.

This sucks too much for words. SHG is right. They don't want Us (wrestling fans, especially Women's wrestling fans) watching at all. I have been faithful tho the product since 1981 through spectacualr and craptacualr. But the last two years have got me watching less and less to the point of being nearly done with it entirely. The worst part is I want to be a fan so badly, but it's like being a Laker fan these days. Vince McMahon seriously needs to go like the Lakers should have dumped Kobe's worthless ass.

Unless something's changed, it just says that it was mutually agreed upon. That doesn't mean that she asked for anything. It just means that they both agreed that she shouldn't work for them anymore.

Like others have said, where else is she going to go? Unless she's retiring, I can't think of a reason that she'd want to give up the only steady job she can get on this side of the planet for no reason, whether or not she ever gets a make-believe title again. I see reason it would be her idea.

A post-Mania chopping period was going to come, and apparently we are in the midst of it. At the very least, if they are ridding the company of Molly, eliminate the entire Holly family from the roster. This time next year, perhaps the ten year albatross known as Mark Henry will be dumped on the road leaving Chicago post-Mania.
Maybe they kill the women's division for a few years and try to see if they can get 6-8 hot months out of midgets. They killed the division quickly in the 80's after Richter helped ignite the Rock 'n Wrestling Connection. Looking at the remnants of the women's divsion though, is Moolah currently the #2 heel?

They ain't the kids to mess with (GO GO GO GO)

Anyhoo, there are now multiple sources all giving the same story: that this was some time coming and Molly spoke to officials Monday about leaving, rather than it being a cost-cutting measure, so it was more her asking to be released rather than the WWE firing her. And there is a standard 90-day NCC included in the release.

Beautiful. She left with some dignity, unlike the last couple releases. Again, this is a person who would go for weeks or months without appearing on RAW, so I can't believe that this is a deal-breaker for anyone. It makes very little difference in our viewing experience.
I liked Molly. I don't know about "best North American women's wrestler ever", but she was good. I think Trish surpasses her in terms of an overall package, mostly pulling out front in the charisma department.

She wants to move on, can't say I blame her but is there anywhere for her to go now? A lot of people say Japan but the Japanese wrestling scene is not as solid today as it has been in years past. Maybe she wants to move on with her life in general, leave the ring, marry, have children? All these things seem in line with her value system, and if these are factors more power to her. This isn't necessarily the worst thing in the world if she's a happier person for making the decision.

The only major negative I can see is that they probably won't even bother to plug that hole in the women's division.

One thing I think WWE is missing out on big time with these releases is not writing them into the show. Loser leaves town matches used to do some good business. Of course, you can't force them to do it if they don't want to, but in amicable circumstances like Molly's I see no reason why she wouldn't want to put someone over.

Because it would be someone like Hemme?

Chopping block? Keep in mind I don't remember if half these guys have been fired I just know they ain't been around. Except for Holly. I hate him.

Kenzo, Shannon Moore, Hardcore Holly, Viscera, Jindrak, Cade, the entire Cabinet or at least the Basham that sucks. More. Or the one that's engaged to Gail Kim... if it's not the same one. Regardless, the second (first?) is one lucky bastard.

I can only think that Molly was indeed just fed up of playing second fiddle to clotheshorses on what should be a wrestling (+entertainment) programme. It a damn shame though, as she was always one of my favourites.

She is a superb wrestler, and the way she would do the Molly-Go-Round and always land on her beautiful, big butt and bounce straight up made my day every time.

Look forward to seeing her again elsewhere, though.

As one of the big Molly fans here, I'm sad to see her go. But, lately I've been getting tired of her putting over non-wrestler divas. Have fun wrestling wherever you end up Molly, I'll be watching!

Are you ready for Mahkan-mania to run wild all over you?

I mark for Molly Holly and Lance Storm.
