This is a waste of talent IMO. I loved Rhyno's push in 2001 along with one of the best Hardcore matches i've ever seen in WWE at Backlash against Raven. He had a memorable feud with Jericho and was going strong until he suffered that neck injury. Since he came back WWE didnt have a clue what to do with him and he just got lost in the shuffle. It's a real shame.

According to the Torch, WWE will try and bring him back for the ECW PPV, where Rhyno may have the chance to impress WWE brass enough for them to bring him back.

I thought (with no particular evidence) that the WWE used the "Y" spelling so that they could trademark it, whereas they can't do that with a common word. If that's the case, could he use "Rhino"?

I thought it was because Marvel Comics has "The Rhino" trademarked and don't want anymore legal trouble. It's the same reason that Taz became Tazz, they just don't want to get sued.

It sounds more like one of those firings to send a message to the boys about how to conduct themselves in public. I would have fired Rhyno too if he indeed smashed a hotel flower pot while fighting with his wife.

Rhyno would be a really good fit for All Japan because he could actually work like a powerhouse instead of just another guy.

Wasn't the Tazz/Taz thing because AOL/Time Warner owned the Taz name, and this was in the middle of the Monday Night Wars?

There's also RVD, Chavo, Hurricane, Kidman, and Spike. And Stacy and Torrie, if gravy bowl matches count.

The WON's description of the incident, with Rhyno going over the edge and shouting something like "fire me, I don't care, I've got nothing left," is really sad.

I don't see him fitting the mold entirely for a gaijin in the traditional sense for Japan, but things are so different there now I don't know that it matters that much. Given the current gaijin crop in AJPW at the moment, he may be the top worker of the bunch. If he were to go to Japan I think he may be better off in NOAH, where the foreigners who aren't giants (Mike Modest and Scorpio for example) can get a decent run.

Stacy and Torrie I wouldn't count. I did somehow forget Chavo (that time as a trainer threw me off), Hurricane is so far down the food chain I forget him, Kidman, well is Kidman, and unless a flea market is around, don't care. Spike I somehow counted with the other Dudleys and just forgot to remember his debut around Mania in '01. I did remember RVD, however, I couldn't count him, as his debut was in July '01, either 4-6 months after the death of ECW. By counting RVD as coming over from the Fall of ECW would be similar to Flair coming in 7 months after WCW died and saying he came directly over. Its semantics, but, then again, just about everything is semantics.
However, even if everyone above is counted, it still shows how quickly VKM was able to purge the remnants of WCW and ECW without much notice.

Can Mark Jindrak be included in that bunch as well?

I think mr. nation was accounting for Jindrak, Shannon Moore, and Akio when he disqualified people who took the long road getting to the main roster.

Rico showed up, won the tag titles, then went home. Meltzer said he's not going back, but never said why.

To be fair, there's a good deal of WWE talent from that time frame who aren't around as active wrestlers anymore, either. Rock, Austin, Jeff Hardy, Rikishi, Al Snow, Test, Albert, Crash, Billy Gunn, X-Pac, etc. That's just how these things go.

I had no problem with them tagging with Nunzio in the FBI on Velocity every week, but I cry myself to sleep when I think of them wresling in the RWTL tournament or the Champion Carnival.
