This is from the TNA Impact spoilers that were taped last night:

After this the DOA Dusty Rhodes made his way to the rampway to speak about Lockdown. If I understood the Texican he spoke, Dustin Rhodes/Bobby Roode is some sort of Black Widow of Death match, Raven and Jeff Hardy is a table’s match, the six man cage match is a lethal lottery match and the winner of Styles/Abyss will face Jarrett at Hard Justice in May. Rhodes ended by saying all eight matches on Lockdown will be inside the Six sides of Steel.

Yes, ALL of the matches at the PPV will be cage matches. I know Dusty loves that gimmick, but he must have gone completely fucking insane to think that THIS is a good idea. Talk about taking a gimmick match that has already been killed by overexposure, digging it up from it's grave, and then killing deader than it was before.

Being that I am really the only TNA supporter on here I have a very strong opinion about this. Dusty has lost his flipping mind!!!

So, if I interpret the first post correctly, Raven and Hardy are going to have a tables match ... in a cage?

Well. That should be ... um ... interesting.

Man, Dusty must have loved it when they had those caged dancing girls.

I have some concerns about the cage lasting through all the matches.

Good call Dusty...lets kill the novelty of the cage, and the significance it brings to a match by making every match a cage match...why do I still watch TNA? I just don't know.

I support TNA too ... but I gotta say this is pretty ridiculous ... Will Lockdown be this way EVERY year now (provided that there is a next year for TNA/Dusty)?

That being said, I may have to pool my friends together so that we can see just how "ridiculous" this thing is.

You know what this sounds like to me? A real good way to get most of your roster to hurt themselves real bad. Most of these guys get over based on their ringwork, and having them all try to outdo one another in a cage just seems like it's asking for trouble. Besides, Jeff Hardy + Tables + Cage = Trainwreck.

And wouldn't one cage match draw as well as two? These are the things that I don't get.

And that's when I thought that there were only two cage matches at Lockdown. Now there are, what, eight? And some of them have added stipulations (Raven-Hardy and I believe Rhodes-Rude)?

I guess the logic is that if one cage match gets X number of buys, then by golly, a card where we have EIGHT cage matches will get 8X number of buys. Unfortunately, that's just not the case.

In the long-term of getting people to consistently care about TNA cage matches, it's nuts.

But in the short-term of just getting people to order Lockdown, it's so crazy it just might work. The concept of an all-cage PPV is pretty novel, and it might lure people into thinking this is going to be a huge event. Those fans may be sick of the cage by the third match of the night, but by then they've already paid for the show.

The best thing for the gimmick, though, is to get at least one unforgettable cage match out of Lockdown, and then give Six Sides of Steel a rest for at least six months. But I don't expect TNA to show that much patience with what is (Ultimate X notwithstanding) their trademark gimmick match.

Then again...I think TNA loves wearing out novelties...I had a tape of a TNA Wed. PPV and do wish they'd go back to the regular 4 sided ring...it just looks better.

I enjoy a four sided ring but I've become acustomed to the six sides that TNA uses. It is still unique enough for me, yet it adds extra turnbuckle spots to matches. Anyways...who knew but it grew on me.

From TNAWRESTLING.COM ...

SYNOPSIS: In another first for TNA Wrestling, Dustin Rhodes takes on Bobby Roode on April 24 in a Prince of Darkness Match where both superstars will be forced to compete wearing blindfolds! In the battle of Texas vs. Canada, the first superstar to find his opponent and beat him wins the bout.

Yeah. That's right. A blinfold match. IN A CAGE. Wow.

If it's indeed TNA's cage PPV then they must not have any other cage matches this year. How can you now sell it as the ultimate grudge match when you have Apolo and Lance Hoyt wrestling in a cage? Unreal.

Damn- WWE became succesful back in the day because they took steps to become more than a sideshow, but TNA is burying themselves as a sideshow-

When you're already practically just another attraction at Universal Studios- ITS TIME TO WAKE UP! Its time to show the world that you got something special. Oh well, if they keep pulling this kind of crap and bringing in more and more people that are past their prime and putting them over the actual talent... Im sure it'll even out eventually.

From my understanding there is also a six man X Division cage match with the first guy escapting getting a title shot. I'm sure they'll come up with some crazy stuff to do, but I also wouldnt' be surprised if all six of them killed themselves trying to come up with some fancy way to stop another guy from getting eliminated.

Why wouldn't I be surprised if there ends up being a Bunkhouse Stampede Steel Cage Battle Royale on the PPV? And, even less surprised if Dusty entered it and won? Oh well, at least if they did that they could dig up Nelson Royal to explain the meaning of the bunkhouse.
A Blindfold/Prince of Darkness Match: Unless they are going to recreate Burr/Hamilton and make it a Duel instead of a cage match, it still will suck because by definition Blindfold/Prince of Darkness Matches suck.
Now, this one will depend upon intellectual property ownership. However, since Vince hasn't put out a DVD with this type match, perhaps Dusty owns the idea in the same manner as the Lethal Lottery. How, in a card with all cage matches, could Dusty not have WarGames, when that is probably the best brainchild of Dusty's life, is mind-boggling. I'd even consider paying for TNA if a Dusty Rhodes WarGames was on the card, because that is one match where I've seen Dusty actually book in an excellent fashion.
