The WWF hasn't had a HitC match since Armageddon 2000, and I was wondering when the gimmick would be brought back. This got me to thinking...how many HitC matches have there been?

The PPV matches....

1. Undertaker/Michaels, Badd Blood 1997
2. Undertaker/Mankind, King of the Ring 1998
3. Undertaker/Boss Man, WrestleMania XV
4. Al Snow/Boss Man, Kennel in the Cell, Sept.PPV 1999
5. Triple H/Mankind, No Way Out 2000
6. Triple H/Rock/Steve Austin/Rikishi/Undertaker/Kurt Angle, Armageddon 2000

Weren't there a couple on RAW sometime as well, involving Kane/Mankind/Austin/Undertaker during the summer of 1998?

Please god, keep Hogan out of Hell in the Cell.

I'd like to see the Undertaker bust out the Cell one more time before he retires. It's kind of become his signature match now that the casket match is gone. I bet he and Angle could work some magic if they were in there by themselves.

I hope they bust one out for Taker's last match, and then don't use it for a while. The six man match at Armageddon 2000 almost killed the gimmick. It should be used as the ultimate grudge match, but that match just didn't mean anything.

And I think that is the exact reason why they haven't used it since.
All of a sudden every other match was a HITC or Ladder match..
They thankfully toned that down and gives us more normal stuff and only the special matches as ultimate blow-off.

Oh, to answer the original question.
I believe there was a HITC between kane and Mankind in the weeks after KotR. Not sure on the exact date.

Remember when Taker gently placed...I mean tossed Rikishi off the cell onto the DEADLY BALES OF HAY?
Let's never do anything like that again.

I kept thinking the DDP and Kanyon vs. Kane and Taker match last year would be made a HitC match, but it ended up just being a cage. So I guess they really are saving it.

I also thought the Austin/Angle feud should have ended with HitC. Or Jericho/Rock. I just don't think all of them should involve the Undertaker.

I would pay big bucks to see RVD/Taker Hell in the Cell for the World Title, though. YEEHAW!

I believe the Kane - Mankind HITC was the day after Summerslam '98, but I am not entirely sure of that (I checked the archives, and CRZ didn't do a recap of that RAW).

Has anyone heard the commentary from the Kennel in the Cell match on Mick Foley's DVD?? Foley and Kevin Kelly do old-school, 80s-style commentary for the match, and it's pretty freakin' hilarious.

I'd love to see just before he retires, Undertaker have one more face run as his old persona, feud with Raven and end the feud (and maybe Undertaker's career) with HiTC.

No kidding! Every time those two duke it out, I mark like a little girl. Just don't throw poor Rob off the top of the cell, please. Even if it's into hamster bedding.

I prefer the first HITC to the second for all sorts of reasons, though Foley's suicidal glee has that impossible-to-stop-watching quality. Muta-scale bladejobs, fine; permanent serious injury, no thanks.

There was also a "lost" HIAC match, with Austin/Undertaker v. Mankind/Kane, sometime before KOTR98.

i dug the six man HITC a lot. there was a great story going on in there. all of the guys in the match got into this punch drunk insanity. when trips and austin stumbled out of the cage after vince and the stooges tore the side off, it was like lunatics spilling out of the asylum.

it's cool that the fed has held off on having another and it's about time they got a feud going that would deserve a HITC payoff (or hook).

    Mike

That wasn't really a match, though - more like one of those "confrontations."

Seems like a bit of a waste to bring in a HitC for a "confrontation," but hey: I'm not a booking genius like Vince Russo.
