C'mon, they did "Smackdown! For The Troops." Twice! Surely that more than makes up for it.

"It's always easier to be offended on behalf of someone else, isn't it?"

*rolls eyes*

Once again, I'd like to point everyone toward my track record round here. I am NOT a guy who jumps at the slightest bit of insensitivity. I'm not even particulrly personally offended by the incident. I just think that's a classless thing to do, especially when it's a wholely unnecessary part of the show. Hassan's already mega-over as a heel; is it really worth potentially causing upset over one little thing? I'm not preaching hyper-sensitivity here, I'm talking logic more than anything else.

Just for the record, the thumb across the throat is the gesture for "Slit your throat" not "Chop off your head". And considering that he then proceeds to do a throat related hold, I think it works out okay.

People around the world die from numerous causes every day. Is it wrong* for them to throw Kane in a burning dumpster since people that lost family in a fire would be offended? Is it wrong* for Kane to electrocute Shanes genitals? What would the family of tortured prisoners think?
Is it wrong* for Al Wilson's body to be upended out of his coffin during the funeral? Think of the poor bastards that have suffered that in real life.

* wrong as in insensitive, not as in just stupid, which it is

"Just for the record, the thumb across the throat is the gesture for "Slit your throat" not "Chop off your head"."

How do you know what the "arm across the other guy's throat from behind" is the gesture for since it has never been done commonly before Hassan began doing it? Hassan and Benoit are not making the same gesture. Benoit's is common pre-existing body language; anyone who would claim that Hassan's gesture is supposed to be completely unrelated to beheadings is being intellectually dishonest.

"Is it wrong* for them to throw Kane in a burning dumpster since people that lost family in a fire would be offended?"

For heaven's sake. It would be wrong for Kane to be thrown in a burning dumpster if Shane McMahon's gimmick was the guy who's like the serial killer who threw his victims into burning dumpsters, and if the dumpster-burning was being done to intentionally and directly evoke the real life situation in order to draw burning dumpster heat (doubly hot).

The Undertaker has now beaten every member of Evolution at Wrestlemania --except Batista. Can we expect UT/Batista on next year's card?

Also, I have not been following the shows lately. What happened to Victoria and Molly? Are they BOTH injured? Couldn't they have been a guest ref for the Women's match or something?

From the recaps it sounds like there was no celebrity involvement. They were in LA - come on! Even Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Burt Reynolds, and Donnie Wahlberg brought something to the table.

Considering who they flashed to in the crowd, I'm kinda undecided whether getting a "YOOOOOU CAN DEEEEEEEW IT BATISTA!" crowd shot would have been a good thing or a bad thing.

I'm pretty sure that it would have to have been a good thing.

Okay, you got me there. Now I admit I haven't watched all of the beheading footage religiously or anything, but did they ever make that exact same motion in those videos that were released? Because I don't recall seeing it.

Really, making a motion across the throat with a thumb doesn't scream out "chopped off with sword/axe" to me. It's a common gesture that's been used in movies and tv for years.

But hey, I guess different people see these things in different lights.

Okay, last post, I SWEAR.

"Really, making a motion across the throat with a thumb doesn't scream out "chopped off with sword/axe" to me. It's a common gesture that's been used in movies and tv for years."

True if you're talking about someone drawing their finger across their own throat as a gesture toward someone else, but how many times have you seen the motion done across the intended victim's throat? And how many times by a bitriol-spouting Arab American? With another guy screaming in Farsi next to him?

Friend of mine yelled You can Do it from the top of his lungs during the HBK/ANgle Match. Section around us laughed loudly. He has hopes it makes it on tv/dvd. I doubt it

Quick WM live thoughts.
There was a long line outside still when the battle royale took place. We managed to find a short one, arriving in time to see the final 6 men or so. Cool for Booker to win it.

The Gladiator/Austin promo got a huge pop. I didn't expect it and apparently this went for many others.

Eddie-Rey, lots of things said already. It never really seemed to really break loose so to say..I didn't really pay attention to Rey's mask.

Ladder match. Insane. Shelton got 3 holy shit moments indeed. It was obvious they wanted him to be the star.
Benoit got some sick spots in too. I knew Edge was going to win it, and really liked it. The Brittish guys behind me didn't as they whined about it for a few.

I didn't expect Eugene to show up. His midgets comment was funny. I think most people were kinda hushed because they knew this oughta lead to Hassan & Daivari, which ofcourse would lead to Hogan. Fun moment. Glad Hulk didn't milk it any longer than he did.

Orton-Taker was very cool. Glad that Orton had a good match, yet didn't win. The Brits behind me rooted for Orton. Silly wankers The run in of Orton Sr. WITH cast was awesome.
Kudos to Randy, huray for Taker's win.

I actually didn't find the Women's match that boring or offensive. Must have been because I was cheering for Trish anyways. She obviously made the match with her antics.
I expected more of Lita..at least a trip up at some point.
Guess they were smart enough that would not help Christy's heat at all. Yay for Trish.

HBK-Kurt Angle. No comments other than WOW!

Piper's Pit. Very cool indeed. I cheered loudly for Roddy, just like the night before at the HoF (and WM XIX) the guy was always one of my favorites, even as a little kid.
I thought the interaction between Austin and Piper was fun.
Didn't expect Carlito out there but you knew he was gonna get destroyed. I actually marked out so much that I forgot Austin will stun everyone and thus didn't see the stunner on Piper coming. Nice old school twitch by the rowdy one.

Sumo match. Hrm..I didn't expect anything of this and thus wasn't that annoyed by it. I did notice that Akebono surely held back on the chest slaps drawing out the match.

Cena-JBL. Woohoo..I got me some JBL money. I was hoping for a decent brawl here, as both of these guys can actually do that. I don't like Cena, and love the way JBL behaves so I rooted for the latter. Though I could have lived with Cena winning if only we had gotten that brawl. None of that. stupid 3 moves and it's over. 9 months of building Bradshaw and he gets killed like this? BS.

HoF - I am glad we got Hogan earlier already so at least there wasn't a 20 minute chant for him like at so many shows a few years ago. On a side note, the Sheik really did steal the show on saturday, yelling into the mic and explaining what he has done in his life and how Angle knows all about this (via some minnesota coach)

HHH-Batista. Good match. Started sort of slow, both in the ring and with the crowd (they were sort of subdued I think due to the JBL-Cena ending?) but when Batista started demolishing Hunter it picked up. Nice power wrestling by Dave. Beautiful spinebuster by HHH. Awesome moment to see the big man win. He seemed really emotional and hung around for a long long long time.

Great WM. Considering the short build they had for several matches (which might make it harder for fans to get into the feud) I think they did well. Everybody did their best to deliver in the ring and it showed. I have been to 5 WMs now and this one might be my favorite (yes, that includes the awesomeness of 17 and the greatest moment ever of seeing Benoit/Eddie hug in the ring)

*sigh* Why bother?

I caught the Ozzy song. Yikes. The singing was bad. That hopping and clapping thing he does just makes him look pathetic and old. The Prince of Darkness is really showing his age.
