Why do big guys have such a hard time gettting over or staying over these days? Some may say they are to slow and boring, but I think it has something to do with the way that they are booked.

Wrestling still needs big guys like The Big Show, Kane, and Rikishi. The question is how do you make The Big Show a threat without putting him in the title picture. Well, one way would go *oldskool*. Have someone put a bounty on him, much like Bobby Heenan used to do. Then every week or so have guys like Justin Credible, Raven and Saturn try to collect on the bounty by any means, only to have Big Show squash them in the end. It would be like the old WCW Giant or even Andre the Giant. The guys should get some offense in, but Show is just to much of a monster for them to put away.

This would solve some of the problems in the midcard and also give Show a good long angle. I just kinda miss the old school big guy.

The problem with big guys isn't inherently in their bigness, but when they're so slow that they just can't keep up the pace of matches around them. Vader was huge over in WCW, when he was still healthy and working like a maniac. UT was over when he was still working harder in the ring than in backroom push-killing meetings. Kane was way over when he was lighter and able to move around the ring quicker. The problem is that simply being big isn't enough to keep you over now that people are on tv every week. Andre would have trouble getting over today, simply because after a while the shock of his size would wear off, and then he'd just be a big tall guy lumbering around the ring. Also, out of the big guys you mentioned, none of them are particularly good on the mike. On the other hand, someone like Nash, who knows how to use the mike, even if some of us get bored to tears or angered to the same by the way he uses it, still gets people interested. But someone like Big Show, who has that weird huge-guy voice, cuts promos one step above those cut by the Tough Enough kids under Steve Lombardi's guidance.

There, I feel better now.

Another problem is no ones sells for the big guys like their size makes a difference. 15 years ago Hogan slamming Andre was a big deal. and 8 years ago, Luger slamming Yokozuna was the same thing. But now, Big Show gets slammed and Rock Bottomed and suplexes like any other wrestler. The idea of them being "too damn big" has only applied when The Hurricane was trying to chokeslam Big Show this summer, and that was for comedic purposes, not to make Show a threat.
